I'm always amazed by this type of issue, how are these guys passing the interview process and getting hired? I had a situation where we installed thirteen, 20 Ton, 2 stage package units on a warehouse and 3 of them didn't start up properly. One had zero refrigerant, one had a bad transformer and one the blower didn't work. The technician said the blower motor was seized up and needed to be replaced. So being the pain in the ass Project Manager I am, went up on the roof myself only to discover 2 of the 3 blower motor spade connectors had come off the bulkhead connector due to shipping vibration or just a factory screw up. I spun the blower motor by hand to verify it wasn't frozen and with the wires reconnected that unit worked perfectly. I also took the good transformer from the unit with no refrigerant and replaced the bad transformer on the other one so now there was only 1 unit needing service. For anyone reading this thinking I shouldn't have touched anything that is under warranty here is my response. Then don't do such a shitty job that the customer CAN find your mistakes!!
I have an account that we get multiple calls to each year for breaker off, they stack boxes right in front of the panel and always bump with boxes.....it all pays the same!
Lol I get this often for walk in freezers. Employees don’t want to be in the box with the fans running so they’ll kill the disconnect and clock out. Next shift shows up and I get a call. 🤦♂️
@@HughesManHVAC always learning must keep an open mind. And I worked around the Detroit metro area a lot of taco bell , Mac D's little caesars. Now trying to stay with residential
I've heard of bad start-up and commissioning, but these guys must not have even stood there for one single second after turning power on to the unit in order to miss something like that. That's ridiculous. Great video tho!
You jumped G to R to bypass the thermostat. I am a newbie. Is G just to power the blower relay ? How does Y get power for the compressor contactor ? I wish you had referenced the wiring diagram for this important point so everyone could follow. Thanks for a great video
24v feeds down to the thermostat from the transformer, the tstat is basically a switch that sends power back to the unit depending on what you want it to do. if you want ac it sends 24v to y and g. if you want heat it send 24v to w. in the old days the 24v would go back to a series of relays but now it goes to the main control board and the board will then send power to the contactors to bring on the bower and compressors or start the heating process by bringing on the inducer. sorry im late with the reply.
Nice job. Seems like installer didn't check well or just check if blover was running right way they thought it is right way for compressor too but was not. How I know it: because I made same mistake before. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend and memorial day
@@HughesManHVAC Nice find and simple fix! Looks like the Indoor blower on this one was PSC, so the installer assumed if it was correctly phased, so the 3-Phase compressor was too! Not! Have a safe Memorial Day!
It is, slight oversight on my part. Was kind of in a hurry with a ton of other calls. Realized it while editing the footage. Probably why the compressor phasing was overlooked In The first place. Thanks for watching!
Sure is, so phasing didn’t matter for the blower and was probably why this compressor was overlooked. An oversight on my part also when I recorded this but we aren’t all perfect, well I’m not at least… not sure you might be though
I dont understand when your standing pressure is so good that you spend so much time looking for leaks ,even before you properly check out compressor.its a wast of time.
