If you made $1,500 profit to replace a condenser; you overcharged your customer.

Nice video John. You are looking great. If MO99 is $100 a pound, I wonder what my old jug of R22 is worth in my garage? I think it only has 20# left in it. I'm not a Tech by trade. I bought a jug of R22 from a Tech that was fired while doing a service call. He asked me if I wanted anything from his Truck and sold me the R22. I had a Duplex in Washington State that had 2 down R22 Heat Pumps. No one would service them so I did. Bought around $1k of test equipment and went to work. Both were working great and then I eventually sold the place.

I bought some Goodman 16 SEER equipment for my house right before the pandemic hit. I was really surprised that the condensing unit looked like an Amana with an ECM fan motor and the wire grate on top. The equipment package came with a GMVC furnace which has to be programmed via a Bluetooth connection with Goodman’s CoolCloud app.

I work for a Rheem dealer in NC and yes both the condenser and the evaporation coils on the pkg units are micro channel. Have been i think since 2015. We have had a few issues, but overall they've held up pretty well. We shall see when the warranty runs out.

Not to confuse people but if you get a rheem ac for your house, it will not be and has never been micro channel.

Rheem uses micro channel evaps and condensers ONLY on their RACA14/15 straight cool and RGEA14/15 gas package units for the residential market. Their residential packaged heat pumps are tube and fin condenser and evaporator coils.
@brianporter4352
@brianporter4352 2 года назад
@@andrewpierce2213 Yes you are right, the 14 and 15 SEER packs are micro channel. The 16 SEER is conventional coil, as is the pkg HP's. Sorry should've clarified that. Thanks for setting the record straight.

Around here u are not supposed to be putting refrigerant into a leaking system u are supposed to recover existing refrigerant and leave if customer doesn't want to have leak repaired be responsible and do the right thing u are directly venting refrigerant

Hi John this question originated on your ( Old GE Condenser Change Out ) video but I didn't know if you still reply to your old videos, so I'm asking here, I have a old GE model #21TA936H1F, I wanted to check or just change the 2 capacitors, I pulled the 2 capacitors, but they are so rusty you can't read anything and the suppliers I tried said they need the uf can you get your buddy Ted Cook to find out the references for both fan and run capacitors. I don’t know if he sell parts? Thanks John, I appreciate it 96 deg today 98, 100 tomorrow

I thought that most companies were dropping that micro channel design? Perhaps Rheem has fixed the leaking issues but $1200 is a lot of money so the ICP sounds great.

Wouldn't it be better to recover 99% of the 22 and then just recharge with the replacement refrigerant. If your pulling a vacuum on a system with a leak, your just pulling in air.

Sir, Question. Why wasn't your 460's being used correctly? You can NEVER charge a unit the correct amount of charge without using wetbulb, drybulb indoor, outdoor temperatures and pressure, your PT chart which should NEVER be left alone ever!!... Did you use the rule of thumb #3? Plus 30*f for surrounding temperatures? To help you become a better Mechanical Engineer Service, Maintenence, Installer and or a Tech. Here's something that you most definitely need to use and always remember when you're out in the field!!... Heat can be transferred in three ways: by conduction, by convection, and by radiation. Conduction is the transfer of energy from one molecule to another by direct contact. ... Convection is the movement of heat by a fluid such as water or air. ... Radiation is the transfer of heat by electromagnetic waves. I retired as a MES Mechanical Electrical Serviceman Local 250 before becoming a CEC State Inspector. I'm not trying tobe a dickhead just trying to help you, from one MES to another!!... The Widowmaker a man of God!!... "E Pluribus Unum" D'n Deus Le' Vult!!...
