My dad kept asking me "what about picking up drums and play together?" I replied "Nah, I'm not that passionate". But then I saw Larnell playing with Snarky Puppy... Now there's my drum kit in the basement!
After owning the album and not having seen him play it, I cannot believe how easy it is to take for granted his stamina on the rides! Let alone the entire track! Go buy his album and support him! He gives you a hand signed card with it! Talk about a class act.
@@LarnellLewisMusic I shouted out loud “No way!!!” and my wife shouted from the other room “what!?” I told her I could not believe you included a hand signed card! She thought something was wrong! Hahaha I truly was beside myself and it really felt special. Thank you again Larnell. I cannot wait to one day see you live in person. The autograph is to be treasured beyond what you know.
Notice the definitive Skateboarder Vans keeping time under foot with the smoothest Diamonds on the Sole of your Feet, the Silicone that helps slide or Grip according to the Beat in the most dangerous of situations for us Riders or Players of Pedals or Boards completely Off the Wall. As a Drummer or a Pool Rider we are always in the Groove ! Nice One Larnell.
@@ianmackay8602 Where talking about a drummer who many people, would put in the same bracket as Weckl, Coliauta and Chambers, I think he'd manage it quite comfortably.
@@mrcooper7027 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FssULNGSZIA.html I'm not saying he couldn't play it but he wouldn't be able to hear it once and play it perfectly
suggest everyone come back for a 2nd or 3rd listen. the song is so complex that it kinda grows on you. all but and at the same time. Larnell is the greatest Jazz musician of this generation
The name Larnell Lewis has an hidden secret nobody has been able to crack until today: LARNELL: LEARN LEWIS: WISE The remaining letters were put there to distract us and make it look like an human name. You machine.
Amazing playing and performance.... got his new album a very good long listen and felt proud that there are people like larnell lewis who will further expand and explore the world of music. Love from India...❤😊
OMG, seeing you picking different themes for the different parts and adressing different cymbals for the soloists + the tasty supportive access... great work!!!
This is really great, but I just recently found a video of Brian Blade playing with his band and if you don't know Brian Blade, you really should. His playing is unbelievable and, like Larnell, you can see his passion in every hit. The guy doesn't play the drums, he becomes the drums! Here is the video if you're curious: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6qwv2f5m0xM.html
Anyone who can convince me to enjoy drumming like this guy does is a God. Never in my life do I think I would like anything drumming and jazz. I'm always looking forward for something new from you. Thank you.
This is the best example that a human can achieve something so moving through hard work and passion. This is beautiful, very few things as badass as you Mr. Lewis!
Giving me some Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers vibes from the Freddie Hubbard and Cedar Walton days...even Bu would be blown away by Larnell’s chops!
First public comment on RU-vid. Without doubt, this is the most incredible showcase of your extreme talent, skill, education, and innate ability. I've watched and re-watched numerous videos of you with larger sets and this exceeds them all (well, in reality everything you do exceeds every bar). Seeing you manipulate a small, simple set is the best example of how incredibly talented you are. "If it give you goosebumps, you know it's real". Something my dad said many years ago... every performance gives me goosebumps. Would love to see you collaborate with JD Beck, DOMi, Al DiMeola, heck, anyone because I know that you would be able to mix incredibly well with anyone's style. Thank you for bringing this into the world; we all need something positive and inspiring right now.
Man, I discovered you three years ago and since then I have been fascinated with your skill as a drummer and musician. You are one of my greatest inspirations.
It's kind of hard to articulate, but I love Larnell's playing for the same reason I love the Pixies. When you learn to understand the way a player plays, or a band writes, you learn to anticipate what they're likely to play in a given moment, but you never know exactly what it's going to be. You just know that it won't be something typical or standard or ordinary and you know you will like it because it's them. And when it comes you think, yep, of course that's what he was going to play. And that's it - that's appeal.
