Curious what Orthodox Jews have to say about a Rabbi Solomon Friedman who is the owner of Pornhub. I didn’t know this until yesterday. Is there condemnation from the Jewish community about this? Prevalence and easy access to porn is one of the great destroyers of young men in America. To know that an Orthodox Rabbi owns the largest distributor of this filth shocks me to my core.

Isn't the only reason that blood and/or sacrifice is necessary, because God decided it would be? Couldn't He had decided that Anything else would've been acceptable...or that no atonement would be necessary at all?

I have thought about this as well but the way I work through this is to remember the religions of the world and what they typically would require as well. Many other Gods of their surrounding nations (Rome, Babylon, Egypt, canaan) had rituals, and sacrifice and incense burning. I believe it is yet another way of God working with the stiffnecked ways of human hearts. We could say maybe God could’ve just left Leviticus out but I think that takes away from the way their society worked. All of their societies whether in the Lord or not, would be centered around sacrificing and utilizing idols for the various gods of the area, The Lord is kind of saying look I’m going to have a system that you can recognize and relate with without the need to sacrifice your children or family members on alters of fire, or without having to have ritual copulation with prostitutes and animals for the local fertility Goddess. It’s almost like trying to redirect our virtues to something better. God bless

@@jayvansickle7607 maybe, but that’s very hard to say with our modern context, and sensibilities. Hindsight is 20/20 as they say Society was much different back then. They thought of things alittle differently, numbers are used differently. Slavery was not a moral and ethical problem it was baked into the fabric of the economy, same with the god rituals. I understand where you’re coming from but like I said hind sight is 20/20, it’s not really for us to say what would’ve been better or worse for a society 3-4000 years ago. Just cuz God decided instead to go in a radical new direction and give them a worldview that could be totally and completely free of any of these ritualistic concepts, doesn’t mean that the Jews would’ve even followed it, being that the Bible records that many Jews were far more entranced with Baal, Molech, Asherah etc. it’s hard to say whether they would’ve found that genuinely more valuable than the worldviews around them or if they would’ve took it less seriously. It would all be our own inferences

@@1surfpesca_ So...If I understand...instead of God saying... I'll just save everyone, and not require sacrifice... He decided that it was better to be more suitable for the culture at the time....and send people to hell if they don't follow the rules?
