I made this today for the holiday tomorrow, but I have already tried a piece. It's pretty freaking heavenly. Love that it's not too sweet! I'm looking forward to making it again for other holidays with different decorations. THANKS CHEF JOHN!!
chef john’s voice and sense of humor, still very healing after all these years (i had forgotten about this channel, but i am happy to have rediscovered it)
Chef John, I am amazed, as usual. My mother and I love your receipes, and we do one every week. You made me like cooking! I am in your debt. Thank you, you are the best!
I made this recipe yesterday, and it's fantastic. I'm doing keto, so I have to make a couple of tweaks to make it low carb, but it is still delicious. Thanks for posting this recipe!
Chef John you are amazing! My boyfriend is due to visit from finland next month and I wanted to make a super amazing dessert for him this is perfect! Easy to make and so beautiful! Thank you!
Anyone else think he would be a great announcer for price is right? I can so hear him talking about a brand new bedroom set! All in a good way of course :) looks delish!
"americans, greatest contry in the history of the world... and most humble..." lol I will make a russian flag, I´m russian-brazilian and love strawberrys and bluebarries
I'm going to use mango for the yellow on the Malaysian flag while keeping the rest identical and make it for our National Day in August. Awesome idea, Chef John!
Made this for independence day and it went over great! I followed the recipe exactly this time around, but maybe next time I'd add a little more lemon or possibly some orange zest to compete with the richness of the mascarpone.
This was a pretty cool recipe. i have one that's similar but instead of using whipped cream, i used gelatin to set the filling and you end up with a texture that's like panna cotta.
Firstly, if you live in this country you represent whatever foolishness this country decides to show to the world like it or not past and present. Secondly cowardly name calling doesn't show no more than your lack of intelligence towards what you don't know or are naive to. If I come to your house (like a scouting ant) and say that I discovered your house( you live in it but I didn't see you), and then go and bring people to your house and then take over your house, i'm sure that you would be celebrating me stealing your house. Then you would understand. Columbus Day should not be celebrated as much as you think so. Stop calling equal rights and you know this land is stolen!!
Yes it is true that taking over land is not new but at least it's acknowledged. It doesn't matter what you say you represent it! If you say that this land is free you represent it. That means you also represent how this land got it's freedom too! You have naive cancer!
do you have any suggestions for keeping it firm while it sits outside on the dinner table roughly 2-4 hours? also, is it okay to throw it in the freezer for 10-20 minutes before serving?
I've read that it's also smart to make your whipped cream bowl super cold, just like the heavy cream because it helps make the whipped cream a bit quicker and more consistent... is that the case for you, or is it better off in a room temperature bowl?
I didn't notice it before in old videos - with the 'allrecipes production' at the end - I love allrecipes videos too :-) I can't wait to make this and use the NZ flag instead to serve up for family for Sunday dinner tomorrow!!!
I'm gonna make this for our 4th of July party at the American studies department at uni! You Americans are so lovely, and we Germans love you(r food) :D
You said that the colder the cream the better, but when I used cream that was frozen with liquid nitrogen it didn't mix very well. Does the recipe become more complicated once the cream becomes this cold? If so, what are the extra steps?
I have a question, I will be commuting for roughly an hour to my friend's BBQ. After I finished making this will it survive commute? Will it completely melt when I arrive, do I need to put this in a cold bag?
This looks so amazing. I hate cooking overall but after making some rather delicious home ice cream, I wouldn't mind branching out to try more desserts. Something like this would be right up my alley ^_^
Why make a cake for a country that no longer exists? The Russian flag would be blueberries on top, then strawberries, then no fruit at the bottom. But I suspect you knew that.
the crust didn't stick to the pan here, like its happened with me. Wondered whether laying down baking paper or something would make it easier to remove after it hardens up? :)
Chef John, for the sake of laziness, would it be plausible to simply combine all the filling ingredients at once in a blender or food processor? Or would this change the final texture? Love your recipes. Happy Independence Day.
Red and white would be a Canadian flag. Making a maple leaf would be tricky though. So intricate. My maternal ancestors emmigrated to America from Eastern Europe, before coming to Canada.
Making a maple leaf (or any other intricate design) would be very easy. Take a piece of wax paper, etch your design on it, then cut it out. Use a colored sugar -- you can either make it or buy it -- to fill in the cut-out part. Voila! Alternatively, you could probably use an appropriately-colored fruit puree to fill in the cut-out part, but it may be difficult. Give it a try.
I changed the cream cheese to cottage cheese, the graham cracker crust to saltines, and the fruit for jelly worms and it was AWFUL! Next time I will try your way and see if it tastes better. THANKS! ;) Your the best :)
