Is a stop at Graymoor Monastery still a thing on the Trail? We stopped there for the night. It was about 4 miles from Bear Mt. Bridge. When you crossed the Hudson, you passed the lowest point on the AT. When you looked north from the bridge, you saw what Benedict Arnold was going to hand to the British. An entire artistic movement was named after the river that painters tried to capture called the Hudson River School of art. History is crammed into the lore of this lovely river. And my family came to this area fleeing from famine in Europe in 1710. Thank you for your splendid video today!

That part of the trail closed due to the 1000 year flood the day before I got there, so I had to take the road walk around the mountain. The one part of the trail I missed. The parks were both closed too but we went through anyway. The zoo was also closed along with the bridge. Thanks for showing me what I missed. Looks so different with no flooding.

I live in Vernon, NJ, a few miles from the AT Boardwalk, I was hoping to run into you both, but I wasn't out that weekend you were passing through. Sorry, you haven't seen bears yet. I could feel your disappointment in not seeing any bears and the zoo animals hiding out. But it was pretty cool seeing the trail that was closed, open again. What was that tower used for? I follow both you and Stick and you aren't that far from each other, and theres still thing's that you show us that Stick wasnt able to. Kinda neat to see different things in the same area, from two different hikers. Im glad they opened the trail if its the same one that detoured onto that busy, dangerous road. Thanks for sharing your hiking experience. I would suggest that you get new shoes in North Conway, NH for the Wildcats and Maine. If you don’t, your shoes will be destroyed long before Katahdin.
Have you tried those little mesh nets that go over your head. Cap bill keeps it off your face but still protects from the bugs. Might be worth a try... Thoroughly enjoying your videos!
Enjoying your hike..so that zoo has only injured animals that can't live in the wild. So it's a good place I think I haven't been there. But I have been over that bridge many times, and have friends just a little north of there on both sides of that great river.
No Bears..... Keep part of that sub in your tent tonight, you'll see a bear, and a racoon, maybe a skunk LOL. Still plenty of chances to see a bear though. I know NH has a healthy population of bears, Moose too. Totally enjoy your videos! Hike on, stay safe and Happy Birthday!!

Spectacular views, new shoes, and 2 subs! Too bad that the zoo and the Black Mountain view didn’t meet expectations. Plenty of other things on trail have exceeded expectations. Showed great restraint by not jumping in the lake. Keep on enjoying the trail.
I'm so sorry you didn't have a good experience at the zoo. Stick at the eagle is 3 days ahead of you and he had a wonderful experience and saw all of the animals.
I really hate that the animals were hiding in the zoo so many others have been lucky to see them. I'm so glad you got to go across Bear mountain. Brian didn't have a choice on the shoes. It couldn't find them in his size. He needed a size 14 and no one had them. Thank goodness he finally got some.
Hi Mike. You’re Doing great. Lately I am getting a glitch in your vids where it jumps back and plays over again randomly. I follow a bunch of hikers and never see this. . Curious if anyone else experiences this. Just letting you know. Keep up the good work
Were all the animals supposed to be rescues and unfit to return to wild? I thought that is what I have seen on other videos of AT of this zoo. Could be wrong, does not look like the same then again. Two different AT zoos? Hudson River Bridge looks like it dead ends into Bear Mountain- btw there is an Art movement named after it- -fall color mecca. Glad you got new kicks and now are post 100 days into your hike! Ice those feet when you hostel/motel stop. For an added comfort treat ask for ice and treat your feet when you hit a restaurant/deli. Don't forget your ankles and calves. It is so worth taking off your shoes and taking a few minutes to rejuvenate. Just rub the ice over the areas and don't forget to share some with Leo. That UGQ "quillow" looks awesome! How do you like it so far? I just checked it out on their website and I'm resisting buying new gear...it's so hard...😖🤣 I just had to buy my dog a new backpack, she grew a full size over the winter, her puppy pack doesn't fit her anymore. She got 2ce as big as I thought she would when I adopted her. But she carry some of her own gear now!
Zoo animals are no dummies - unlike humans they're going to chill out when it's hot & humid. As a Floridian, isn't that pretty typical summer weather? Granted you're not carrying around a full backpack w/o AC when you're home. Seems like the more miles you have behind you, or should I say the less miles you have ahead of you, the more lighthearted you are.
I absolutely hate zoos!!! It is so sad!! Rehab zoos are great to get the animals better, but not ya normal zoo. Makes my heart sad!! Great views today tho. Thank you!!
