Bosch made a design flaw in this ECU. Note 3:16. The insulation paste on the cover does not insulate the connector bottoms on the card with the cover on the other side. To avoid short circuits, you must insulate the connector ends and the cover with an insulated pad.
fantastic! now tell me, can an ecu survive 300+ amps at 12 volts? I came across one with ground pin practically melted, ground wire between engine and chassis was removed and seemed to have grounded through ecu from starter.
What is the melting temp of the solder and does the desolder tool set to a precise temp for the job? I’ve repaired a few cold solder joints in the past and changed MOSFET’s in speed controllers, but always with a fine tip iron. That tool looks excellent for the task?
Low melt solder is about 200c I don't really have a set temp I set everything to the hottest temp and just move the equipment closer or further away dependant on the needs of the particular job.

Those 2 resistors are in series to make 120, and 120 would be in parallel in another module (or CAN slice), terminating the network, to create 60 ohms.

The only green piece on there. What does that control ? I have the same ecu. The green on mine looks a little worn. I have no crank no start. Esp and engine light just flicker with fan running.
Hi, so I was wondering if there is a parasitic drain what inside the ECU, or PCM, however it is classified would be the most likely cause, if there is one that would stick out to you or if maybe there isn't something that could cause that in the ECU/PCM, also my obd2 reader won't give me live data and I'm not sure if it's the diagnostic that is the issue or if it is the ECU/PCM, THANKS.

If the ECU has bus termination, it has a 120 Ohms between CAN_H and CAN_L. If it is not a bus termination resistor, then generically you find something in the region of 60k to 70k ohms. That provides some load on the bus to prevent ringing and reflections, but not to the same extent a fully tuned 120 Ohm gives you.
Excellent pal!, could you tell me if i should be able to copy an ebs control unit merc mp4 with star, obviously I'm a begginer. Just wondered if there is another way to copy and paste a file to the new unit.same way we can with trailer ecu's through jal.I'm mobile in scotland. Customer were told by merc they need to take to them. Cheers boss
