Sir, u don't know how much difference this has made. I've Not been using my camera for months not knowing that the solution was this simple. Really solved the problem and saves so much money!!!!
This video was a worth it! I also found threads mentioning shipping to repair @ Canon for $500+ and I'm glad I kept digging! I'd also add: if you're putting metal into the camera, make sure the battery is removed just in case! I also got the blockage out with a can of air, and thankfully didn't have to risk any metal inserting, let alone potentially opening the body up. Thanks for the video!
I just ordered an old Canon Rebel T3i. I think this is the same camera that this man has. I put the sim card in and got the same message. With the aid of a flashlight I looked in the sim card space but did not see anything. Then I blew into the space a few times, then put the card back in, and THE ERROR MESSAGE WAS GONE !! Thank you.
Thank you so much for this video! Been searching loads of forums after getting the "no card in camera" error but nothing worked. Got a torch to have a look around and at first I thought there was nothing there but then I noticed a tiny bit of blue that didn't look right. Used a toothpick to dig it out and low and behold it was a miniscule part of SD card. Problem solved! So relieved, thank you for posting.
HOLY COW DUDE. I SAW THE BLUE PIECE OF PLASTIC AND I HAVE A COUPLE BLUE TRANSCEND CARDS. USED A PAPERCLIP TO GET IT OUT. THANK YOU SO, SO VERY MUCH!!!!
Thank you! I sent my 6D to canon and they sent an estimate of $500! I wish I had seen this video earlier. Not thinking if I should get it back and try it...or just pay them $500! The way Canon is charging for repairs, they are no more my favorite camera company! Thanks a lot for taking time to share this video. Really appreciated.
Thanks for the video- I did not see anything in there, but made a tool like your q-tip with a sharp sewing needle- swept gently and blew air in (a few times)....Now it is working!!! Wahoo- Thank You!!!
Thank you so much! It worked. The Camara store basically told me tough luck. Getting ready to go on a trip and 2 days before I leave I get that message. Your video fixed what more than 12 other videos I watched did. 😊
I'll share my experience here because it's by far the most interesting video on the subject. I also had a message "no card" and I tried everything you said here. I cleaned the contacts, I blew air with a spray can, I shook the camera to let loose particles come out... none of the above worked. Then I thought that maybe the problem was to push the sd card a bit more down on the contacts, so I put a folded small piece of paper between the card and the lid... and it worked! I hope that the fix lasts but for now I'm happy I found the issue. Only thing I should find how to male it more long lasting solution, for the moment I won't remove the SD card and just download the photos with the cable :D
youre a star, i tried what you said and saw nothing but i hovered the card area and it worked but i'd never thought of that if it wasnt for you, thank you
Thank you so much for this explanation. I've been experiencing the 'no card in camera' sporadically for some time now. I also had googled and read many forums, but your video here solved my issue, as shining a torch showed tiny SD card fragments and using a straightened paper clip, I was able to remove the fragments, insert a new SD card and off we go again. Namaste and many thanks. M.
Thank you so much sir! I had the same issue. I found the small sliver of plastic in my PC after shaking it. I knew someone here would save me money. The pieice is off the top of the memory card. I don't think the card is useful anymore, but my camera sure is!
Thank you for the explanation. It was the same problem with me. Thanks to your video, I took a closer look at my card. You can clearly see that something on the other side is broken off. As a result, the card is also a little open. So, to everyone else: Take a close look at the card and see if the top layer can be folded up easily. Then it is also broken!
Thanks a lot! I Tried opening the camera at first but it was too hard for I hadnt the right screwdriver for every screw. I saw your video and however I found no plastic in the card slot I found one pin had become out of its actual shape sow I tried to bow it with a clip and it worked. Camera recognises the card again again! She was happy as a child!
Same here.....ageing Sony Cybershot...I took out the memory stick.... then I got my camera on its side and gave it several less than gentle taps (Thud) on the desk. Now it works again. It's like having an old friend back. There's no sign of any plastic....yet.
The paperclip trick worked a treat. Filed mine down to a point, and picked out the dreaded piece of plastic. How something so small can be such a big problem.
I have a Canon T3i, and this worked after 2 or 3 sprays from an air can....Mind blown, by the way.....You're a fucking genius! Thank you so much!! You saved me HUNDREDS of dollars with your super sound and logical thinking. I'm happy AND I feel dumb at the same time. :)
Аналогичная проблема, карта памяти не вставлялась до щелчка, планировал нести в ремонт. После вашего видео достал обломившийся кусочек пластика из слота SD и все заработало!) Спасибо!
Wow thank you soo sooo much for this simple video. I was about to send my camera in for $150+. All it was was a hair like piece of plastic. Thanks again.
One thing I might add is use a wooden cocktail stick, it fits perfectly and wont damage any connections. This does happen from time to time without anything physically being the problem, in that case spray the contacts on the SD card with electrical contact cleaner and push it in and out of the camera a few times, this normally cures the problem
I have a different history to tell you and I'm still searching for a solution, that's why I find you video. My T3i wasn't holding the card in its place, only when closing the card door, and it worked ok. I looked inside the sd card slot to check if there was a piece of plastic avoiding to hold the card and I found out that there was a tiny leaf in there and I took it out by using the blower, after removing the SD card got, to stay hold in its place, but the camera says "No card in camera"! Unbelievable. I think I will put the leaf back. Lol. Now I need to find out, why it shows this message, once there is nothing else inside the slot. Congratulations for the video.
The same problem here, I removed a piece of plastic inside the memory card slot, after that it keeps saying " No memory card " , I am really confused about that
Thank you sir! I'm having the EXACT same problem with my Canon T2i. EXACT same problem and I did all the research you did first. Then I came across your video and it gave me hope! Will try it soon and let you know if it works. I do suspect there is something lodged in there. I hope I can see it and get it out.
EDIT: I used your trick with the paper clip and I did find a piece or maybe even pieces (it was hard to see) of chipped off plastic, However, whenever I'd go to shake it out, nothing would come out. Just when I was ready to give up and try taking my camera apart, I blew into the slot (I didn't have any compressed air with me at the time). I didn't see anything come out, but I tried the SD card and it worked!
Thank you! I had that happen too. But a big enough piece broke off where it bent one of the card readers. I took a pin and bent it back and now it works. Thanks again.
I think it’d be better if you can share a picture of what the slot should look like so that we’d know if something’s difficult. There’re a few black plastic parts in there and I don’t wanna accidentally cause further damage 😂
i bought a camera 2nd hand once that had some type of mite in it, like a dust mite. i saw it in the view finder once and googled what to do. one site suggested i left the camera upside down over night, i thought this worked until a few months later my card wouldn't work.. like your problem above, except it seemed to have been this camera bug/mite insect that was causing all these problems.
I just blew into my camera like 50 times!!!! Honestly such a pain but if you guys have the same problem just remember “DONT STOP BLOWING” because it will eventually come out!!!
At 3:00 Look at the fingers, see in between, the very top one is missing a strip of plastic just like the one you found. if you freeze it at 3:00 it gives a nice Picture of what I'm saying,
