It is much easier to milk a goat when you have a milking stand. Plus it makes it easier to trim hooves and do other goaty maintenance. But what makes this goat milk stand extra awesome is it cost ZERO to build because it is made with recycled pallets.

I truly enjoy watching Jeremy doing projects. You always see the wheels in his mind turning, looking for a better way to build a project. Hitting the edges of the milking stand with a 1/4 round router bit is an excellent, considerate touch. I could never keep up to the pace that Jeremy exhibits when he gets his bursts of speed though. ;) Looking forward to more videos on how you two develop your new homestead.

Stand looks great! You can mark that off your homesteading bucket list. We also ended up putting a seat on ours but I cut it at a 45° so you can move fwd and backward depending where the utter is. The seat(s) will probably need a leg as well (we have a 150+ lb goat that would tip that right on over). I assume you'll be trimming hooves on your stand as well?
@Guildbrookfarm
@Guildbrookfarm 7 лет назад
Yep we will be trimming hooves as well on there. We will show it in action in an upcoming vid.

How sturdy are the 1x4's of your head gate above that top cross brace? Probably depends on the goat, but I was just wondering if they would hold up if the goat gets pushing or pulling? We're new to this - looking to build a stand for my daughter that's more portable for 4-H and really like the way you did your head gate but want to make sure it's strong enough. Thanks!
