REMASTERED IN HD! Music video by No Doubt performing Hey Baby. (C) 2001 Interscope Geffen (A&M) Records A Division of UMG Recordings Inc. #NoDoubt #Remastered
I miss No Doubt alot. I'm a black chick from the projects in Boston and I remember loving No Doubt from the start. I think telling friends my favorite song was Dont Speak at the time gave me my first glimpse into how people judge and label. Apparently I wasn't normal for liking this music because Gwen didn't look like me. I simultaneously felt how ok it was to be different though. Realized I couldn't be friends with people who ignored artistic beauty because of the color of the person creating it. That was 95 when I was 9 years old. Listening to that song feels the same now at 32. Imagine what I would have missed if I didn't dare to be different. I hope artists really know how appreciated they are. 💛
I feel ya on that. I'm a black female and til this day, I get flak for liking what is considered "white music" I simply like what speaks to me, no matter the genre. Love No Doubt from the start
Lorie Jackson I truly understand. I attended a mostly black school so I loved rap, soul and pop. All types plus TLC, Envougue not sure of spelling but yeah I love it all. Once I got older, my country friends just didn't understand. Don't get me wrong, I love all types of music but I grew up on LL Cool J, Bobby Brown's group even though I can't remember the name of it, Whitney and of course Michael Jackson. Now at 46, when I hear those songs, I always think of Jeromy rapping in the Halls or Elton break Dancing in class complete with his red leather jacket and glove. I truly miss those days. Music today just isn't the same...
almost same thing happened to me. except im Indian and was living in a small city in south India at that time.now im 32 too. and i now look back at my young self and want to tell that lil girl that "people are still the same(even when you grow up) and are judgemental af.so dont ever try to change yourself".they still give weird looks if you dont conform to their standards and notions about life.and growing up with different perspective about the world , only gives you the nametag of "weirdo/wannabe".but that wont matter as long as you stay true to yourself.
You couldn't escape this video even if you tried in 2001, it was played over-and-over-and-over again on MTV and Vh1. Back when No Doubt were high in demand in wake of their then-pending studio project "Rock Steady" (2001). Promo for them was well executed, so many catchy hits off the CD.
That time I Visited Jamaica! I brought my little SONY Jam Box. Even as I was stuck between towns. I heard LOTS of Music. Reggea Rock! Reggae Funk! & Even Reggea Metal! It was an awesome Vacation even before I got to the Hostel! 🤫
Looks dont mean much compared to character and you bet these media people are lacking. Likely rite terrified about having to face reality when this experience ends
@@kevinmcnally8076 I was with you on the first seven words of your statement, though I found it a weird response to someone simply complementing another person. The rest of what you said was just stereotyping and presumptuous. None of us know these celebrities and people seem to forget that they're also human beings, very privileged human beings, but still human like the rest of us. It's very strange to me that people will form opinions about the personalities, or character, of someone they've never met and believe it as fact. Gwen Stefani is beautiful on the outside, I believe, and if her work is any reflection of who she truly is, which art usually is, she's beautiful on the inside too but that's not really for us to know or speculate about... we're all just here because we like the music.
@@rantallaboutit Shes a head wig for demonic music industry. Not a good person bud. Think about it. Shes targeting kids with the intention of obtaining soft capitulatance to what couldn't possibly be more disrespectful and literally could get them burnt in fire for eternity. Not even saying religion is true. Im saying that shes making sure that if it is, our kids fry. Such a great person. Give her a woman of the year award. Lets keep putting weight into appearance. She looks good so shes likely a good person BS. Look who she works for
Gwen’s style is so legendary and iconic . She could get away with wearing really funky edgy clothes and still make it look so glamours bc she’s so gorgeous . Her gorgeous long platinum blonde locks and signature cherry red lips 💋👑
19 April 2024, I didn't know that the band's name was No doubt. Honestly Gwen Stefani was too gifted to be stuck in their shadows. I appreciate hearing this song again, it reminds me of all the days I didn't know what the word feminist meant.
This is a good example of good production. Whoever mixed this and mastered this it is one of the most pristine recordings I've ever heard. Sexellent!!!
@@naokisan07 THAAAAANK U KUZ THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF BLACK AND BROWN PPL BEING WHITEWASHED IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY N PPL DONT KNOW BOUNTY KILLER RECEIVED A GRAMMY ALSO FOR BEING ON THE SONG
From Tragic Kingdom, to Beacon Street, to Trapped in. About, to Return of Saturn to Rock Steady... every one of their albums SLAPS. I'm so lucky I got to be a pre teen and teen in the 90s and early 2000s.best Era for everything PERIOD. Before cell phones and social media ruined everything.
"Trapped in. About?" Trapped in a Box is a song off their very first album. Then came Beacon Street. THEN Tragic Kingdom. You got two in a row correct. ...and you left out an entire album (regardless of release year, not cool -- EXACTLY why they didn't continue)
For me, this is one of those songs that you hear as a child and almost completely forget, until you hear it again years later and the memory leaves the dark corner of your brain and and you realize, "Oh crap. I know this song!"
And that youngins was SKA ! Lol. Im 52, and im still jammin' out to this sick beat ! I'm sure when I'm in a nursing home when I'm in my 80s, I'll be told to turn that crap down !
@@rosegoldboi8103 That would've been cool ! given her athletic build from her dance skills i could picture that ; i also wonder who would've been an alternate MR SMITH? enjoy the NIGHT!
To think that No Doubt and Sublime used to play house parties in Long Beach together. I would give anything to have attended just one of those "House Parties." Those are priceless memories.
Man right in the childhood feels. You can't hate this song, it was 2001. Pop like this is better than the unoriginal garbage you hear on the radio today.
Doesn't every generation say that of the newer generation material, not that I disagree with you, but it feels like everyone is prone to the music they grew up with?
I am of this generation and like this better than what we have now. I think it's from my dad. I prefer The Beatles, No Doubt, The Cranberries, and Metallica rather than Miley Cyrus and Snoop Dog and whoever else is out there rapping.
Jack Combs Meghan Trainor and Taylor Swift certainly agree I rush Justin Bieber round get his act together and cover this and be I don't know s but more pro choice in his politics
@John it was considered weird cause no doubt didn't fit inside the box of pop, rock, rap.... it was like a hybrid with a lil Alternative & Ska and more and just unconventional sounds for the time. This was also different not many artists mixed genres, Run DMC did it with Beastie Boys and that was ground breaking. Then No doubt did it with Raggae, the Jay Z did it with Linkin Park these were not conventional at the time but it was innovative.
I love how diverse Gwen is. I mean the harajuku vibe in her videos and the way she collabed with Bounty on this and Lady Saw.... Oh my GAWD. I'm pretty happy I'm Jamaican
Angel Smith more stuff to support my claim lolz. Yea- she's like one of the first female artists of this generation that can never be boxed into a genre...
She isn't the only one. Whatever sorcery (or surgery) was involved, it worked on all the band members. No Doubt must have discovered the fountain of youth, lol.
I remember seeing this CD at the store and just not being able to stop reading it, “No Doubt Rock Steady No Doubt Rock Steady No Doubt Rock Steady No Doubt Rock Steady....” I just felt compelled to read the entire thing and I wouldn’t let my dad pull me away and I was terrified he was going to make me lose my place. So No Doubt helped my family realize I have obsessive compulsive tendencies, thanks guys
+Travis brown i'm sorry she has not, she is from: British/Norwegian/German/Italian decent... As long back as to medieval ages and probably further... Basically she is Euro-Saxon/Scandinavian/Celtic :D
+modarXmodar: In "The New Rolling Stone Album Guide" (2004), they called Parliament's "Flash Light" "one of the 20th Century's greatest songs about absolutely nothing." I'd nominate this song for the 21st Century's list.
Gwen Stefani is still beautiful, she didn't aged at all. Maybe just a bit, but not significant. She is like what now..? around her 40's? Damn. Song is catchy, came out when i was 10 years old. Still good! :)
She is not old..look at JLO and many 40 years olds today..I don't know many 20 year olds that look that good..even the 40 year old guys are looking good..age is nothing but a thing.
@Ak Am So did the black eyes peas though. I mean yes they are very different but they did have similiar interactions in their music with how they approached things, especially considering fergie's solo career, etc.
I heard Gwen say on The Voice that the Black Eyed Peas used to tour with No Doubt and then when Gwen went solo, The Black Eyed Peas were bigger at the time, and she toured with them.
Where do you think the Black eyed peas got the idea to add Fergie to their lineup. I saw No Doubt in concert back in 97 and the Black eyed peas opened for them, before Fergie.
