We all dream of having bigger workshops, but this guy built this piece without moving more than three feet from his vice. It's pretty humbling and is an amazing standard that he's set.
You know, what you are actually doing is important not only to us followers of complex and interesting pieces of art and furniture. It is also important for generations to come in that you document and demonstrate old work prosesses and skills that often were lost after the industrial revolution. My father built boats, log cabins and houses and I learned so much from him, but you are on a level that very few artisans can match. Thank you for your sharing and teaching, Mr. Epic Upcycling. No one beside you, no one above. Summer greetings from Mette in Norway:)
This friend of mine, he works with primitive and simple carpentry tools, but he produces luxurious, wonderful and authentic pieces of art. This gives us a clear indication that it is not important to have advanced equipment to produce professional work, but what is important is in the mind that works. I think this person practices his work with love and passion, thank you My friend, I am sending you greetings from my country, Saudi Arabia.❤️🌹
That Sir is craftsmanship of the highest level. No Glue, No Nails, No Screws, NO POWER TOOLS. Excellent work 👍👍👍 . Thank you for sharing. Take care of yourself 🇨🇦
@@dropperknot It’s a long lost art continued by few, your blessed kind sir...Seems we belong to the same club, been doing the same things all my 90 years, breathing.😁
This was absolutely intense. The care and thought of making something from scrap wood to a handcrafted heirloom was mesmerizing. Thank you, I was captivated all the way.
Showing once again why you are the best woodworking channel on RU-vid. No gimmicks, no annoying "jokes", no shortcuts. Just high quality craftsmanship. You should have 20x the amount of subs.
extremely enjoyable to see an artisan doing his craft to see that someone can achieve all this without modern tools or electricity thank you c.noel vancouver canada
There is not one video of yours that doesn’t make my jaw drop. I took up woodworking during lockdown and am only tinkering really but I think I might have a go at this if you don’t mind, the failing and learning would be just amazing for the soul. You my friend are a master
That little hand drill brought back memories! I can hear my grandfather's voice ..stop pressing so hard, let the drill do the work silly girl! My childhood in a sentence ! Love that you've done another amazing job! You are a fantastic craftsman and I look forward to each and every project
Apart from the mastery on display, what I like about these videos is that the tools are all normal ones, Stanley, Record, Marples etc, not modern boutique tools costing hundreds of pounds each.
Thanks! Never expected to see anyone make such a fine-looking piece of friction-fit cabinetry! Last time I saw the techniques you used was reviewing the work done by my grandfather during World War Two rationing when nails and even glue were hard to come by.
Bringing back the good ol' days of how things were done before power tools! Real craftsmanship right there...I love woodworking and general tinkering, but don't have the space or budget for shop tools. It's not like I'm trying to mass produce, or on any time schedule to get a project done, and I rather enjoy the finer, by hand style of making something. It reconnects me to the past that way. Really dig your work.
The art of carpentry, when people say I need this tool,or that electric tool,,just watch these videos, and learn something special, great videos keep them coming please.
WOW just WOW! Your attention to detail is incredible! You never cease to amaze me. This was a treat to watch as you created this fantastic piece of art!
@@EpicUpCycling I am continually mesmerized by your endless creativity and talent! I sent this particular video to a couple of my friends. I wanted them to see the craftsmanship, the attention to detail and your sheer fantastic talents! Thank you for posting your incredible artistry.
I've always enjoyed it when you pass over the power tools and use hand tools. When I dine out, I always order something I couldn't cook at home. It's the same with RU-vid videos. I don't watch people do things that I could do, rather the things I only wish I could do. I get exited every time I see that you have uploaded a new video. Thank you for sharing these brilliant videos. 😎
So it turns out there are parts of the internet people are literally unable to hate on because of how well done it is. I scrolled and scrolled didn't see a single negative comment
Seeing him working with the wood so relaxed and patient you realize why when God decided to come down like a human and have a job like other people, before starting teaching for love and forgiveness, He chose the profession of a carpenter.
Hand made pegs with caps - many of them. That alone would have driven me insane! Magnificent work. As someone else here said, that will be an heirloom!!
Very satisfying to watch you take your time for craftsman quality. It must really be rewarding to use your skills and ingenuity to create each work of art! The precision is beautiful.
I just want to say that, watching you do all the work by hand, helps me think about ways to be more efficient and creative, even with power tools. I have some injuries that don’t allow for me to be able to build things completely by hand with no power tools. So it’s a privilege to SEE it all done by hand. Thank you for sharing your skills with us all.
Sir, If I EVER get to your skill level, I could die a happy man. When I read the title for this video I knew I had to save it for a time when I could watch it a couple times and back up to take notes! I have never heard of friction-fit cabinetry before today. An amazing job and great inspiration!!!
As a machinist...I am in awe of woodworking at that level and talent. Cheers to you! I've never seen a dowel punch....brilliant. Thanks from B.C. (Canada)
You make working with wood appear simple, but what you accomplish takes special skills. I am always in awe watching you work. Thank you for sharing with us. 🥰
Fantastic. Level of skill and experience here is phenomenal. Not many woodworkers on YT that can do this without electric machinery. Thank you for your video.
I am so grateful to see you create another piece of work and with hand tools. My father passed on his knowledge to me and it has given me great pleasure using tools like yourself 😊
Love watching you work your magic. The curls of wood when you plane the wood are so satisfying, except i got a little seasick when you took us on a ride on the plane!!!!! Beautiful piece of woodwork. Makes one realise the work the colonials had when they first settled the americas and Australia and New Zealand. Thank you for sharing.
Wow! I've watched quite a few of your videos and always been amazed but this one is on another level. Such a classic, elegant chest box and to have made it using traditional tools and techniques showcases your skill all the more. Thanks for letting us watch your work.
Good mornin', godfather of palettes and rusty nails... today without any nail!!! This is showin' how craftsmen worked centuries back in time... that's traditionel woodwork... and amazing to see it nearly noiseless... absolutly silent... like each of your videos: Sound of silence! Think, Simon and Garfunkel has known you much earlier!!! 😂 Your patience is allways unbelievable... step by step forward! Thanks for sharing! 👍👍🤩
Another fantastic video! I’m always excited when you post a new one. This build is really exceptional when one considers it is accomplished without the use of any type of adhesive, using only hand tools and without plans! You even made hinges!
Another amazing project completed. The way you work out how to achieve the end results you achieve boggles my simple mind. You are so skilled. I love how this little chest turned out. I can only imagine how long it took you to make it. Ingenious
Quite a remarkable build, Eric. What impressed me most was the accurate drilling of the holes for the dowel pins. That is pretty hard to do, and done very well here.
What an absolute pleasure watching you create this piece, I've thoroughly enjoyed the whole process. A wonderful gift to have at your finger tips. I just love the wooden chest. Regards Jan
What a marvelous joinery job you have done. Small, 'simple', but truly unique. Such a joy to see that the old art of cabinet-making is still alive. Thank you so much for sharing your masterful craft with us. So much to learn from you. Your passion is inspiring. I hope you have a nice day. Cheers
All was great, although the wedges used to secure the hinge dowels were wedged the wrong direction. Wedges should always spread towards the end grain, not against the long grain.
Outstanding! I am a luthier who builds guitars pretty much the same way. Living off grid required me to build my home with those exact same tools. Love what you've done Love your attention to detail. And I loved watching this from start to the very end. Those nails are just amazingly well done. Awesome share. Thank you and congrats on your efforts.
This is incredible!!! I didn't even know it was possible to make all-wooden hinges and fastenings. As always, I'm incredibly impressed and have a ton of respect for your work. I really admire your commitment to using scrap and pallet wood. I hope you're having a lovely June and safe from wildfires, wherever you are! :)
