Apartment Tesla owner here 🙋‍♂️ it’s really not as scary or inconvenient as you’d think to not have home charging… at least if you’re living in a metropolitan area. There are plenty of Tesla and non-Tesla charging stations near my place, and I’ve even found a level 2 ChargePoint that I can use for free for the first 3 hours. I’ve built it into my routine on Thursdays and Fridays, on my way home from the pool and the gym, to plug in my car there, then walk the half mile home. Then my wife drives me back to my car a few hours later on her way out to work. Teslas come with a J1772 adapter to use at these ChargePoint stations so no need to pick up anything special. Now, if you’re living in a place that doesn’t have convenient access to charging stations, it would be a bit more difficult to have an EV in an apartment.

Living in the UK with no driveway and always rely on public chargers never bother me. Theres like 2 minutes drive from me at least 3 chargers. Drive at least 6 miles 4x a week, have to charge every three weeks. I have the M3SR+. It always depends on your circumstances. Y'all people stop saying I have no home charger, well I bet you dont have petol pump at home as well.

People have always gone to an external site to get their fuel supply. Only difference now is filling up with electrons.

This is all well and good, if you don't mind wasting and hour or two while your car charges. And this presentation seems to ignore the fact that you can't always pull right up to a charger as soon as you arrive. You may find a line waiting for the operational chargers. Note: not all chargers are operational all the time, and in some areas the charging cables have become a hot theft item. The same people who steal copper wiring from other sources have been doing the same with charging cables. The entire EV idea is a no go for me, until they perfect a much better battery solution than the current lithium ion system. Something that doesn't catch fire and that has a higher energy density along with ultrafast charging. There are other chemistries being investigated now that meet those requirements. I might buy one of those, but I have no intention of buying the current offerings.

Okay.. But what If i don't have home charger and no Tesla charger near my place where I live? Can I use any other charger for EV's? Do i need to buy a specific cable/adapter for that? Sorry for that question, but never had Tesla, but I really want to get one very soon, and I am worry about chargin it...

You definitely can use non-Tesla stations! The car comes with an adapter to allow you to connect with J1772 plugs (used on ChargePoint, Blink, etc). The only stations you’d need to pick up an extra adapter for that I can think of are CCS plug stations, like Electrify America or EVGo (these are fast chargers though so you’d be better off saving the $250 cost of the adapter and just using superchargers). That’s assuming you’re in the US 😄 I believe the Tesla’s produced abroad come with J1772 and CCS compatibility from the factory.

You've gotten a perfect answer by @cvc.triathlon . You can charge you Tesla anywhere even if it's not a Tesla charger station. And if needed, you can found Adapters also on Amazon, for exemple: Tesla J1772 Adapter: amzn.to/3Akcv4k Charger Adapter CCS to TSL: amzn.to/3SJcOvL
