Welcome to the first capture of this No HUD Series. For this video, we are in Race Driver: Grid from 2008 on PC. We are racing in the Pro Muscle category, using the Plymouth AAR Cuda on San Francisco!
This series of game captures is all about enjoying a video game with no heads-up display and showcasing it. It takes some restarts to get the right kind of action! ;D

I would love your suggestions on various games to showcase with no HUD. I have a massive collection of racing games that span between PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. I'm considering doing some FPS as well.

The first one without doubt. The series went downhill in my opinion. The first was such a wonderful game. Damage modelling, racing, sounds, cars, fun physics, pure greatness. Too bad about the piss filter.

Thanks for the comment. I agree. When I made this video, I had a fair few restarts of the race because the A.I. would crash in front of me, and I just didn't get around them, also crashing! Ahaha. The damage model is great. I might make a crash compilation! 😆💯

Any suggestions on a car and track would be highly appreciated. 🙏🏽 Did you know they ported Autosport to mobile phone! All they did was add touch controls. They didn't change the game in any other way. 💯

You're so right! After playing it recently, I was loving every minute of it again. I was also reminiscing of a time when we would play at a mates place on a Logitech G25, all taking turns at who could get the best drift score! 😆🤩 I think I'm going to do a playthrough of this game. 🙏🏽

1:40 goosebumps sequence... could feel every gram of weight of the cars jumping and bouncing, really loved this game, and it was the very first game i ever played on an Xbox 360

@@nonewanted- no mods, max graphics on PC. RU-vid compression kind of destroys the quality a bit. The game looks amazing on my PC. I'm also running a super ultrawide monitor, and the game natively supports it. 💯

I wouldn't say Grid 2 was a bad game, just should be called a different name that was related to the grid series, like Dirt showdown. Same for Need for Speed: Most wanted 2012, should have been called "Need for Speed: Fairhaven"

@@DaddyCRUDE drifting the Sylvia, having rivals on the track, and watching my garage and team grow as a menu was it for me. Top 3 racing games to date. The sequels are good, but like the other guy said, "lightening in a bottle"

Thanks for the comment, I certainly enjoy the way the car suspension reacts, especially on the San Fran street circuit. The graphics are decent for it's age and the car sounds aren't bad either.

This game was visually stunning when it came out. When I played the demo before full games release it was IMO best looking game at the time, right after Crysis.

Cheers! 🍻 It was funny, I restarted the race so many times and, on some occasions, got some really cool overtakes, but then the rest of the race wasn't great. This was the best I could do. I actually lifted off the gas on the downhill part so the other Cuda would stick with me and the pack caught up, making the finish of the race more interesting. 😆💯

Thank you for the suggestion, I will definitely be doing this. I went with chase cam for this video to show off a bit more of the game world but this game does have cockpit view and it's pretty good! Thanks for the comment. :)

Thanks! I actually restarted many times, I was trying to avoid contact with the other drivers. They were all over the place and constantly crashing. Lol. The few parts with contact in this video weren't all that bad compared to what happened in other races. Cheers for the comment. :)

This was my favorite racing game as a kid. At home I’d play it on my dad’s PC and when I wasn’t home I’d play it on my Nintendo DS. God, I invested many hours into this game. I’ve played some of the newer GRID games but they just never captured the old one’s brilliance in my opinion.

My only gripe with this game is how they have some of the best bangers composed by Ian Livingstone, and then proceeds to hide it in the Ravenwest bossfights every 6 events win. This is literally the race car equivalent of Ace Combat. (Sorry Ridge Racer)

Thank you. 🙏🏽 I have always loved playing racing games with no hud. I actually created a series in Forza Horizon 4 that showcased custom routes, and I played on the hardest difficulty with no hud on a steering wheel. It was amazing fun! I highly recommend it for immersion. I can't wait to make more of these no hud videos. 🤩

100%. I usually love to race no HUD, cockpit cam, and hardest settings with my wheel setup. 😎 For these videos, I'm running chase cam more so to showcase the game world around the player. 🙏🏽

I also love trying to achieve a clean lap but in some games it's very difficult with the A.I - especially with Race Driver: Grid! For this race, I set it to 1 lap and made the A.I a certain difficulty, can't remember what exactly, but if they are too hard you can't catch up in just 1 lap, and if they are too easy, you just end up in-front to quickly which is boring. I honestly restarted so many times, and in this video I still collided with another driver, lol. But it was clean for the most part. It takes patience and many restarts. Try to hang back and not jump the gun, be patient with your overtakes. Restart every time you make contact. Rinse and repeat.

@@DaddyCRUDE As for me, I spent an uncountable amount of flashback to correct that one gentle nudge against the other car. I only play on the lowest difficulty, but, mind you, I only use keyboard (I can't afford a wheel, yet). Even at the lowest difficulty, the keyboard makes it difficult, especially in F3 championship with their HUGE traction. But, F3 is my favorite lol.
