See what your options are for a grapple if you don't have any additional hydraulics on your tractor. Power Beyond is not designed to operate a grapple. Your SCV's that control your loader will not also control a traditional grapple. The Westendorf Brush Crusher offers many models, with two of the most popular models being the BC-4200 for JDQA loaders and the BC-4300 for SSQA loaders. The Brush Crusher BC-4200 weighs only 238 lbs while the BC-4300 weighs in at 295 lbs. Both options are substantially lighter and cheaper than a traditional hydraulic grapple and will still complete the work of a traditional hydraulic grapple at a fraction of the overall cost.
Worksaver has now come out with an electric grapple, the ESCG-48 Mini Grapple which will work with both JDQA and SSQA loaders. This is operated by an electric actuator and comes with the complete wiring harness with integrated thumb control to operate with your hand on the joystick. I bought the bruchcrusher 4200 a couple years ago and really like it. Early winter when they came out with the extra center teeth option, I bought the lower center teeth. Now I can pick up all limbs nomatter how small they are.

Excellent demonstration on grapple options . I like the way you offer all your customers all the choices . 👍 Have too agree with you the hydraulic add on functions . Even though I build my own custom attachments and do my own hydraulic add ons . It can get costly . For the person that just wants a simple grapple I think this is a great idea and it’s good too see company’s offering simple easy installs 👍 well done 👍

I had a set of Brushcrusher grapples on a older 85 hp Ford tractor that were pin on style. The two sides worked independently. The problem was the point where they contacted the loader arms when closing. The pressure was so great that they bent or rather indented the arms . That point on the loader should be reinforced to prevent this. That being said the newer ones may be redesigned to solve this problem.

I say the brush crushers are the best. But I am biased. Due to I have a Westendorf TA-55 loader(their smallest) on a 1986 john deere 755. I have the brush crushers for this loader. Which is a pin on loader. So the brush crushers are much smaller than the one you show. But they are separate pieces. One for each side. A bear to install. But I have moved large brush piles quickly and effortlessly . Also moved good sized logs. They work good and are 10 years old. It would be nice to have that new type due to ease of mounting it. But we have to work with what we have. Great video!

Just found your channel, when I enquired Brush Crusher had me contact an implement dealer 4 states away who really didn’t have much experience with their equipment. Actually like the motorized work saver more, probably look into one later this summer.

That fact that you have suggest not to route the electrical cable to the loader if you take the loader off means this first version needs a design change. It needs a second connector like the one at the grapple near the front of the loader for quick removed of the loader. I’m sure this lack of connector would cause TTWT much frustration.

Sure, add a second connector and the price goes up! Ha! It isn't rocket science, it's routing it in a practical way that doesn't interfere with the loader. Think about your route ahead of time and it's not a big deal.

I’m interested in the Brush Crusher BC4200 because of its simplicity, ease of instillation, and total installed sub-$2,000 price point with middle support claw accessories. For me, a grapple would be nice to own, but would not see constant use like the bucket, or belly mower. So eliminating the various 3rd function need at an additional $700 (self installed) to $1,500 is a big benefit of the Brush Crusher. However, I am concerned about the lower clamp stop causing damage to the lifting arms where the stop touches the arms. I can live with paint being scratched off. I do not wish to have the arms damaged. Do you have anything that can be added to the arms to protect them? Something like a protective wear plate?

Hi Doug, No accessories for the lift arms. Westendorf has been manufacturing these brush crushers for many years without issue though.

Good Works Tractors, thank you. Perhaps I am being overly concerned. If no users are reporting arm damage, it may not be a issue. I’d love to see you borrow one of these BC4200’s to Tim to give it a field workout. The RU-vid channel with three cabins found he needed the center parts, a 3rd wide claw for the open area between the two claws. The technical name may be something other then a 3rd middle claw. Looking at the three cabins video, I’m thinking only the lower middle clamp was needed, which would save weight if you eliminate the upper middle claw, but I could be wrong. Thats why I’d love Tim to look at it, give it a real world try.

It's a valid concern. I'm sure there's some that have had an issue, but that could be said for any product on the market. Plus, individual operators all handle equipment a little differently as well.

Someone ought to make a grapple like a truck snow plow. Has the resevoir and cylinder on the attachment. Plug it in to power and add a remote and done. I feel that electric one doesn't have much force?

I would be interested in seeing if the electric one would drain your battery if you use it all day. What is the rating on the loader arms of the J.D. at the point where the bottom teeth set on ,the other grapple. Does this void the JD warranty if the loader arms gets bent.

Order an inexpensive pair of golf cart mirrors. Easy to install on loader arm uprights, slight convex shape, durable. I bought mirrors for Club Car. There's always some dumbass walking up behind you when you're running your tractor.

Couldn't you just put forks on the bottom of the front end loader and a finger or two above it so when you turn the bucket up it would pinch the limbs in it ? I mean, seems easy enough to me ?

Is the connector a regular battery quick disconnect? this controller could also be used for a chute deflector on a snow blower with an electric solenoid???

Not a quick disconnect on your battery. Unscrew the nut on each terminal, slide the connector on and put tighten the nut back down. Yes, I don't see why it couldn't be used. You'd just need to get the mating end of the electric snowblower to match up with what's on the harness.

They are at full extension during clamping.

Probably not often at full extension while clamping. You're seeing it in action without it actually grabbing onto anything. I've watched quite a few videos of them in action and with a log or fat pile of brush, the cylinders are somewhat retracted. I know what you mean though, however I gotta imagine that they wouldn't have been selling these continuously for years if that were a major problem.

I bent lower teeth oh my grapple so bad I had to use the loader and a bucket to put it back straight.It will rub the paint off the bottom of the loader. I have 24 hours on mine cleared 2 acres of trees and I don’t know what I do without it.I love my 4200 Brushcrusher

Yeah, just the regular JDQA on it. The harness is universal, so made to fit pretty much any compact tractor.

Just ad the 3rd function. You will be way happier with it done right. Plus there are many other implements you can run with the third function. When you figure the cost of the kit compared to these options it just doesn’t make sense to me. 20k for a nice tractor, you might as well set it up right. None of these options look like they hold a candle to my 3rd function grapple.

Yes, it just doesn't make sense to me either. So one spends $20 to $30K on a tractor and the extra expense for a 3rd function is too much? It was $850 for my 3rd function. Not free, but well worth the money of having hydraulics on the front for my grapple, as well as tree puller, etc. This seems like a solution looking for a problem.
