You can tell how hurt Kumail is to lose to Jordan Peele. That joke around 16:10 feels more like an excuse to let frustration out. It’s sad that Kumail broke his brain and body to become nothing after 6 years or so. It’s also sad that Kumail and Jordan had to pit their traumas against each other to try and win out over the other person in a basically white competition, meaning the academy awards. You can see now in 2024 how Kumail’s head has imploded from having his trauma become a critical failure by comparison.
