This game deserves an honest trailer Part II

No man's sky was the most disappointing thing since my son.

I used to be a defender of NMS, but then i took an arrow to the knee. Actually i played it for a few more hours, reached the center, and i realized: im an idiot, theres nothing to defend here, all these haters are not haters, are honest people expressing their realistic opinion.

Can you -revisit this title in 2020 because of all the massive updates has completely change this game since releases

I was excited for this game, but I decided to wait until the price drops. Then I forgot about it. Totally dodged a bullet.

Am I the only one that noticed that every time the creator was asked questions like, will you be able to play with your friends, and he lied, that he even kinda shows that he's full of shit...like, via facial expression? Shame...

how he says moving at the speed of a hundred year old stroke victim had me in tears hahaha he says it as if its some amazing mechanic in the game my god in dying hahaha

The game is about finding your own path and exploring in an infinite universe. Turns out, most people want to meet up with douche bags online and shoot each other with space blasters repeatedly in an endless loop. NMS is an an intelligent game in a stupid, stupid world.

It's been a while now so hopefully the angry people are back under their rocks. I have a question about this game. Did anyone else find the planets with nothing but Vortex cubes everywhere, sell all of them and end up with 30+million... then wonder what the point of money was? Farmed the crap out of them to buy a better ship, and then the next ship I see cost EVEN more. The different ships didn't seem to handle differently, or have any features that made them different unless I built different things on them.. is that one of the "features" people were angry about or just me doing something wrong?

And now one year later, with Waking Titan and Atlas Rises, this game is looking pretty good.

This is worth an update since 2016. Much of this still stings, but the free DLCs over the last four years have made this worth a second look. I still think of this as the "beautiful grind" for the moments you just want to deal with low stress sandboxing. I'll play over a few days, put it down for a week, then come back to it; ad nauseam.

Lol, a friend of mine was pretty into this before launch. Asked me if I was getting it and I said no. He said looks pretty good, I said I'm going to at least wait a month and see if everyone still likes it. Judging by reviews, it is literally, exactly what I thought it would be right from the E3 thing. It looked boring. Really boring. Maybe a peaceful little explorer but with no real impetus to actually do anything. Seriously, why did anyone ever think that it sounded like fun to name procedurally generated crap on disposable planets that serves no purpose other than a place to scatter the shit you need to get to the next disposable planet. Why was anyone impressed by the number of planets? They made it clear that it was so huge that pretty much no where you went to would ever be seen by you or anyone else again once you left, and it's all procedurally generated, so they could have just as truthfully said infinite planets. Seriously Minecraft has 5 bazillion planets too if you want to start playing that game, and Diablo 1 had infinite dungeons in 1999. The only thing it had going for it that was remotely interesting was that the iterations they showed in the promo stuff looked kind of lush and nice, but we all know how generation works now, some of it was going to be pretty good, some okay, some pretty dull, and those infinite planets were going to feel like maybe 4 at best. Even as the rumor mill whirred up and features were promoted that weren't actually in the game, none of them were really going to change much, Those big ol space battles? The environment was way too big to be eve online anyway, so even with the promised multiplayer and combat features it would have added like another 4 things for you to do, say 'that was cool I guess' and then never really care about again. I didn't predict the embarrassingly bad UI, glitches, and shitty ports but it didn't surprise me in the slightest. If everything lined up perfectly, this would have been at best as good as the other space sims, but with the benefit of the planets, which I admit would have been a cool feature in Elite Dangerous. Why anyone expected even that modest achievement was beyond me. People are not smart, and they do not pay attention to history.

Is anybody watching this video when No Man's Sky is slowly but surely getting good?

Well, this trailer should be remade. The game is super fun now. Multiplayer, bases, vehicles, tons of beauty, and so on.

I feel really sorry for the guys who spent $60 on this game.

Months of hype, i was so exited. Why did they lie? They lied about so much, just watch angry joe. They lied so much to the point where they pulled a division and released a totally different build of the game then promised. Isnt that called false advertising, isnt false advertising illegal?

Just started this game recently and I guess there's been A LOT of updates so it's a lot more fun now!!! Maybe do an updated Honest Trailers (call it Beyond or something). That would be awesome!

Honestly this is what happens when an indie developer for PC pairs up with a console to make extra money. The hardware limitations of the Xbox and the Ps4 simply wouldn't have been able to run a procedurally generated game like this with the depth that everyone wants while maintaining "next gen graphics" and a double digit frame-rate. As a result the console company makes the developer take away features so that it can run on their system and won't let them put those features on the PC release as they would be "unfair" for the console players.

I played the game at a friend's house. It's perfect for people like me - those who like exploring new worlds, hyperfocus because they're super ADHD and can do the same damn thing for hours on end without realizing it, enjoy survival games, and are introverts who have very few friends and don't like people in general that much anyway. I found that creative mode is the way to go with this game, because then you can build stuff that doesn't have the same boring layout and you don't have to worry about running out of stuff or getting attacked. I'm also the weirdo who plays Minecraft on Peaceful Survival Mode, so make of this what you will.

What I found odd is that good games made by long running niche companies like Altus don't get that much credit, but if a trailer for a game like No Man's Sky is shown by a developer like Hello Games with little history, let's hype the game before it even releases!!!

People shouldn't hate on this game for being boring or lacking gameplay. This game is what they advertised, a sandbox EXPERIENCE where you explore a universe and just admire the variety. They never said there would be a story, or much of any real gameplay. You just wander around and do what you the player want to do in this massive collection of planets.
