I always wanted a star wars game like this where you could have your own millennium falcon but the closest we got to that was the old republic which in my case is not even as good as knights of the old republic which is like the greatest RPG of all time.
Knowing my luck, I hope the first planet I start on isn't full of colossal fucking monsters that'll kill me every five seconds and throw my ship into the ocean. This game looks so incredible.
i wonder what happens if your character actually dies, do you respawn on the planet you died on or you respawn on the original planet you started at or you respawn on another planet that was generated just for you?
Justyn Lim The game's website states that, "you will respawn on the nearest habitable planet from where you died". They also go on to say how everything in the game is permanent. Every time you die you lose all of your resources and items as well as your ship, along with any upgrades it had as well. They also state that, running a planet dry of all it's resources, as well as plants and animals, is permanent. So what every you destroy, whatever you mine, whatever you consume will be gone forever.
Michael M I believe he also mentioned dark souls because there was that element of loneliness. In terms of how often you see another player. From what I understood about the game. Player encounters will be rare and can go either way in terms of friend or foe.
Oh, I think that's the most brilliant aspect of it. I've always been the lone wolf kinda gamer. Never understood the "Everything needs to be multiplayer!" hype these days. Still, there's nothing wrong with limited multiplayer. So it'll be quite the experience meeting another player for the first time.
Slade Wilson I just checked out some of the old videos from 2013. Many of the comments claim there is no multiplayer. In the sense that you never actually see other players but whatever you discover and/or destroy will also be discovered and/or destroyed for other players. I believe this contrary to what Sean Murray stated in his interview with gamespot at E3 this year. He stated that players would all be spawned in the same universe(or galaxy), but that it would be so vast that it would be unpractical to try and meet other players and that encounters would be very rare. I hope it is like that, I feel very excited about something like that. It would surely make every interaction a moment since it would be so rare. Also there seems to be a big discrepancy about whether the game exists within and entire Universe or a single galaxy. I keep hearing both those words being thrown around.
I personally CANNOT wait for No Man's Sky, check it out. You can walk around a planet looking at unscripted events in wildlife, then get in your ship have dogfights in space, shoot destructible asteroids, then land on another planet with completely different terrain, have dogfights in the clouds of that planet then visit another one, and all with no load screens.
Without other people it will become boring, there will be no reason for you to log in after 10 hours. "Just look at pretty shit?" if I wanna do that I go to watch a movie for 2 hours and come back.
Me too! Ill do the same but i will also land on a planet, mine and discover and protect it from other players and when i got all the stuff ill go on, kill some space pirates and go on a journey to the middle
I'm in the same boat..was so hyped for this game(first time I'd ever pre-ordered a game) and they sold me a dud. Fuck 'em. Never again will I pre-order.
This game is going to set a real standard for future sci-fi titles. Companies with much more money are going to have to compete with stuff like this. I think everyone should be excited. Could you imagine destiny like this?
Other games should take note as well. Imagine a gta USA or a farcry the size of a planet. And those are insignificantly small compared to the scale of this game.
Officially Stated ectualy it will take 584 million years to explore the whole game! source: www.polygon.com/2014/8/19/6045933/its-impossible-to-visit-every-planet-in-no-mans-sky
***** The first time I saw the game in the Sony conference I was filled with pure awe. When the person left the atmosphere and went into space seamlessly I welled up and nearlly shed a few tears of joy. So yes, potential game of the generation, if they add more things like being able to craft objects from resources.
When I first read into it soon after the first trailer came out it melted my mind I couldnt believe that they were making it, hopefully it lives up to the claims, I really want this one to be everything the devs say it.
So the one question on everybody's lips is What do we DO in in the game? I hear him talking and I just yearn to hear a single damn example of a solid playstyle or short term passtime. Can I hunt? Build? Destroy? Research? Create? He seems intent to insinuate these things but never commit to describing how they function which always makes me suspicious. If the dev doesn't directly tell you how it works chances are it isn't a thing. I hope it doesn't end up like Spore, a big empty galaxy. He says you can play for a million hours and see comparatively nothing, my only concern is that he is right.
This is, like the dev said, a breeding and living universe. In this game your objective is to explore the galaxy, obtaining resources, upgrading your weapons, space ships and vests so you can get to what many players objective, the center of the galaxy. Not much has been leaked, besides some gameplay and some interviews, so we don't know (so far) what will you be finding through your journey, or what will you be? A space-pirate? An explorer? We don't know, and this is what makes me getting really into this game. I just dislike the way Sean, the game dev, is "hyping" the game a little bit. Cheers, mate!
I think that he doesn't wish to explain features that haven't been implemented into the game yet. Unlike EA and Spore as well as the newest iteration of the Sims, he is keeping his lips tight so he doesn't spoil our hope just like how Rockstar slowly release details with their games. They have a groundbreaking framework to work with and now they can start including such features into the future.
I'm irish (Dublin) and I didn't even know he was Irish! he sounds English with a hint of an irish accent, the interviewer is easy to spot cultchie he sounds like a kerry man or maybe galway?
What confuses me about this game is if there's barely going to be any player - player interaction then why make it multiplayer. Also what's the point? There's really no point to playing the game besides "getting to the center of the galaxy" and "exploring". Maybe shooting some stuff, but who are we kidding? We've seen plenty of that already and without some other goals the whole thing gets boring fast.
What these developers have done is insane, just amazing. This is the most ambitious and innovative game i've ever seen. The best of E3 by far in my opinion, and I am so exited for this game to release.
Ian Atchison If its timed exclusive, it would have listed Xbox 1 as well but it doesn't. Its timed exclusive for PS4 which means it gets it before the PC. Xb 1 is yet to be announced.
I'm pretty sure it's timed exclusive. You'll see this on the XB1 in about a year after its release I'll assume. This goes for many indie games. Sony just got their hands on this first as all. I hope this game is available for everyone, because this game is looking to amazing and everyone deserves to play it.
From what I can tell: 1: The game has no multiplayer aspect. Its even rare to meet another player in your playtime. 2: There is no building/construction- sounds like you leaving your mark is literally just the hole you left that enemy AI in. 3: You upgrade your machine, but theres no level or progress system otherwise. You are just upgrading to upgrade. 4: Journey around the galaxy with no plan, destination, company, or purpose. You are there just to see the sights. The game sounded cool and the trailer made it look kick ass, but I feel most of us are going to be let down.
It seems like you make your own story. And that makes me very excited. What if when you do meet someone, you end up befriending them and making your entire trip with them? What if you make it your goal to not go to the centre and just make the trip to meet with your friends? It looks like a wholly interesting game to me.
The game isn't even done yet , stfu and just wait till we even get a release date , fuck a multiplayer , the idea that we can explore nd discover new planets makes me want to get it now
Oh what a relief! I thought it might not come to Xbox One. I was gonna get a PS4, but I like Halo and stuff so I got an Xbone. This game looks AMAZING! P.s. Anyone know the release date?
***** yea bro. Certain games I like to play on PC and this one is one other than my strategy games. I have consoles for my friends and family when they come over.
It is going to be on pc. But I wonder about the game. I know that pc and the ps4 players will be on the same servers just like warthunder but will xbox agree to share servers with ps4. Also because it is multiplayer only sony will most likely make it so you will not need ps plus but will xbox do that too because there not doing that with elder scrolls online but sony is.
Seeing as this game is a seamless universe. Will we see Gas giants for mining gas elements? Maybe even dead, wasteland planets and moons? Possibly Terraforming could be something to consider? I love Astronomy, and it would be cool to take everything in account for space travel.
in my opinion, the scarcity of players make encounters more meaningful. imagine being alone out in space for so long, finally running into someone. you may decide to explore the galaxy together. they may even become your best friend. heck, this game could potentially break down language barriers. players coming from different cultural experiences, speaking different languages, but working together for a common goal.
I doubt I'll ever see another person playing this game. If you're so strongly convinced otherwise, you haven't grasped the scale of this game yet. Imagine you and I land on different random locations on a planet the size of earth. Do you really think we would just run into each other? We could walk aimlessly for literally decades, and still be tens of thousands of miles apart. Also, in an interview, Shaun says there's no way we'll know ships are AI or people until we see them get out of their ship.
Officially Stated Correction, that 5 billion is just a myth. In reality, it would take exactly 584,942,417,255 years - if you teleported from planet to planet rather than flew to them, and only spent one second on each. 584,942,417,255 years is over 42 times the age of the universe.
For consoles its only going to be on PS4. Its never coming to XboxOne. It is however going to be coming to PC a little after release. Its a timed exclusive on PS4 thats going to be coming to PC.
I'd like to see some elements like a radioactive planet, which forces you to upgrade your armor in order to bear the radiation, stuff like that would really bring a fresh gameplay
I mean... This is sort of mind blowing. This is like Privateer (throwing it back) meets Minecraft meets Journey. If they actually deliver what he's saying here, this seems like it will be the most incredible game I've played. Sorry for the hyperbolic speech, I'm just a bit in shock here.
Again to clarify; The develop has stated recently that this will debut on the PS4 and come to PC shortly after with no current plans to release an Xbox One version. This is a great advantage to Sony because if it's a success they can just add a new first party studio to their already impressive lineup.
I love this era of playing games so co-operatively on multiplayer. I know it has been done for many years now but I love how it's being done this well.
So let me get this straight, i can go to any planet i can find and make it mine? I can also protect it from invaders and i can go around to other planets/galaxies and invade other people? If so then this sounds awesome!
The point I guess is to move from the edge of the galaxy to the center, harvesting and acquiring things along the way to make yourself and your ship better. No multiplayer and you cant die, but you can lose everything, and have to build yourself back up from where you lost everything. This game sounds beyond amazing.
I hope this game lets me find my perfect planet, create a base and planetary defenses, satellites, turrets, drones, you name it so I can keep away everyone else and just be a lone hermit protecting my own little world. That would be awesome.
I don't think you can build stuff like that. So far the emphasis is on moving around and exploring. If you can you'd better pick the smallest moon you can find or you'll be building defenses for years.
Very interesting. Im not sure that this game would be like that. That would be cool though. A sort of Clash of Clans type game but on a planetary/sci-fi scale. Create and defend your own planet...hmm.
I really hope Beyond brings us close to this gameplay! I think the number of planets should be trimmed down and start mixing biomes together so we can have a paradise planet that has hot spots or toxic spots making each planet more unique. Give us different creatures too please!! I've played since launch and love and enjoy the game so much so thank you HelloGames !!
Oh man, this looks amazing! My PS4 is gonna be so happy when I buy this for it. And so am I. I think my journey will entirely consist of being the first to locate this Penis Monster!
For those of you who worry about player interaction, most will probably be around the center of the universe since that is where most players will be flocking towards. Consider the time getting there your time to explore and upgrade.
...There are no words to describe the utter awesomeness of this game. I loved Joe Danger and then you go and develop this! I want to hug you guys, I really do! All the best to all the guys at Hello Games!
Wtf wb ps3... .Titan fall was for Xbox one then 2 months later 360...so.I hope the same for this game....I know its old Gen but make it go out with a bang...and Sony will still be making money if it was for ps3...
Unfortunately, that's one of the risk of staying with the last gens systems. Besides if it's for ps4 and pc that can add more without anything holding them back
Playstation 4 I think his point is that the developers shouldn't compromise the game in order to make it fit onto previous-gen consoles. Everyone CALM THE FUCK DOWN.
This game looks totally awesome. I can't wait to put my VR headset on and enter into this universe. True sci-fi. Well done to the guys who are working on this to bring us something fresh and knew.
He only recently moved to San Francisco from Ireland. If you haven't heard him before, I strongly recommend you watch an episode of Random Encounter. Danny is the only reason I go to Gamespot.
Destiny, Shadow of Mordor, Dragon Age Inqusition, Assassins Creed Unity, The Crew, Far Cry 4, The Witcher 3, Batman Arkham Knight, The Division, Star Wars Battlefront, No Mans Sky, Uncharted 4, Eve: Valkyrie, did I miss anything? So many promising games. So much to play, so excited!
Let me see... Fly around, explore, have dogfights, discover new species, kill said species, journey to the universe's centre...I could go on for a long time
I'm going to see something that probably no one is going to agree with. This looks like the best game EVER. I'm just looking at the goals for the game: Explore Freely, set your own goals, do whatever you want, every planet is different, ect. I haven't seen a game so colourful both visually and in the core for a long time. It looks like a place where sci - fi stories are made.
I think this has the potential to be one of the most groundbreaking games in video game history. I mean this is a game where you travel through an infinite universe. Think about that word infinite. A game where you can go anywhere I the entire universe and anything. I mean this is the game is what I have been dreaming about since I was a kid. This has so much potential it needs to be great.
man this game is WAAAAAY too ambitious to be believed, but since its an indie company ,im forced to believe everything this man says, i can see the passion and the love for games and real sci fi. My most anticipated game of all time
This game is time exclusive for the ps4 and confirmed for PC also. This game looks stunning and absolutely beautiful, hopefully the game is 60fps and 1080p.
I read an article about this on Kotaku and to be honest, I don't think this is not way too ambitious like everybody think. I do believe big developers could do this, but they don't want to, because to us, content has always been the king, Sean confessed. This game is just basically PURE engine. Sean said we could do anything we want, but that's what I'm kind of afraid of. We have always been lazy and wait for content such as story and missions, to set out the purpose to play the game. The purpose of this game is exploration. But will all of us are really interested to do that, or we just hype in a moment. And you do this totally by yourself, cuz everybody has their own universe :P With that said, I hope there are events constantly happen around us, in the game and I do really hope it's not ambient
I truly hope this game supports VR (and for me that means Morpheus on PS4). It sounds literally like my perfect game. Exploring space and planets and literally discovering planets and corners of space where no one else has EVER been before. Mind boggling. I just hope the game has enough natural variety that it can be played for years and still discovering new things. I applaud them for their sense of scope and vision, and I love the visual style! Cannot wait to enter this Universe! :D
this legit has the potential to be the best game ever created if it becomes the next minecraft and gets improvement update and support throughout years, think how much minecraft evovled so even if the release version doesnt fully deliver it will definetely be revolutionary and open many doors for other ames and its own
