The exocraft vechicles in NMS are all really cool. The walker mech is great fun to stomp around and fight in. All of them are upgradable and customizable. And all of them handle a thousand times better than any vehicle in Star Citizen. AND you can store them on your freighter, and call them down on any planet if your freighter is around, too. Very useful for exploring in extreme and hostile environments.

I mean, I have my first 100 hours or so in NMS since July, and really having a blast, but its in no way shape or form a replacement for the promise of SC. Granted, I didnt log into SC for a while now, as playing the same few missions over and over and over again gets boring, especially if you drop through the elevator at mission end.. there is nothing to explore .. contrary to NMS .. where I set out to do task A, and find myself 1k ly in the other direction fixing a sentinel interceptor.

I've played both games (though I've set Star Citizen aside for now due to its bugs), but one thing No Man's Sky lacks-and probably won't ever have, at least in its current form-is a true persistent MMO world. Unlike in No Man's Sky, where your progress is saved and paused, a persistent world would mean the game is always running, allowing friends to continue building a base even when you're offline, etc.
@the_omg3242
@the_omg3242 2 месяца назад
In your example I think you might be able to do that. I know that if you're online with a friend, you can build in his base and I'm not positive since it's been a while, but I think you can keep building if he logs off. You do have to have each other on your friends list and have the option to allow building by friends enabled. I know that you can visit your friends base when he's not online.
@gemreviews2840
@gemreviews2840 2 месяца назад
bro, friends build a base? Theres no base building. Look a the pace there will never be base building. And having multiplayer activated you can go visit buildings, entire towns made by other players in NMS.
@tetchedskate3366
@tetchedskate3366 2 месяца назад
And you’re okay with playing a game that doesn’t have any base building at all because of that? That’s questionable. You might not be able to let friends build to your base when you’re offline, but they can at least still visit and use the base when you are offline. All of which is better than having no base building at all
@TrailRush74
@TrailRush74 2 месяца назад
To clarify, I was simply noting that I’ve played both games. I apologize if it seemed like I was suggesting that Star Citizen has base building-it doesn’t. In fact, Star Citizen doesn't even have full persistence yet, though it is still considered an MMO. My main point was that No Man’s Sky isn't an MMO in the same way Star Citizen is. It’s not designed for large-scale multiplayer experiences like coordinating with hundreds of players for massive space battles, raiding space stations, or managing a player-driven economy. That said, I genuinely enjoy No Man’s Sky for what it is. While it’s not a persistent MMO, it doesn’t need to be-that’s not the vision Hello Games had for it. I do hope, however, that someday we might see a true persistent MMO within the No Man’s Sky universe.

@gemreviews2840
@gemreviews2840 2 месяца назад
Both are games, space games that claim exploration, progression, ships, capital ships, base buildings, resources, prating and much more. The difference is that you can do all of that and a ton more in NMS while in Star Citizen you can TALK about doing all of that one day, maybe, eventually, while using the most powerful graphic card known to man: your imagination.🙂👍
@menderus8801
@menderus8801 2 месяца назад
these games are a little odd to compare nms is on rails compared to star citizen. for example landing in nms is completely automated all you do is get near were you want to land and press E on a keyboard where as in SC you gotta guide it in. There is the autoland in SC but that requires you still need to get above where you are landing. the ship designs is another big thing this has nothing to do with gameplay so I could understand not caring but the amount of detail SC puts into them is insane where as NMS uses a part system where any part can be swapped out as long as is its in the same class. These aren't NMS being bad either these are just the games being different. NMS is a casual space rpg that procedurally generates stuff where as SC tries to be a Hardcore/realistic(as a space game can really be) rpg so the biggest thing is they are role playing games and I feel they equally achieve that goal.
@gemreviews2840
@gemreviews2840 2 месяца назад
CIG puts detail into ships... which later dont do anything. I would see your point if you could use the functions our ships have but you cant. they all do basically the same. Now compare it to a NMS freighter where you land in the hangar, see other ships, organzie the interior, send your fleet in missions. So while cant crash my Dreadnaguht against a planet I CAN use it to fly around, explore, carry my stuff, launch attacks from, have an awesome ship interior, etc. It all adds up to making the fregihters much better than any capital ship in SC.

SC player base has officially collapsed. Average live daily players has been less than 80k for Q1 2024. That's in comparison to roughly 300-500k average for basically the last 3 years. Spectrum is nothing but unhappy backers, and CIG can't keep up with the damage control. They even just banned me from spectrum again for asking questions. NMS kills SC in every way, and I spent $1368 USD seeking satisfaction and being conned, whereas I've spent $30 CDN for NMS. I'll never turn on SC again. It's obsolete, and completely unenjoyable. I also believe CIG is now intentionally killing the player base to make it easier to justify bankruptcy and walk away. 100% serious. Glad to see you're enjoying NMS. It's a shame what SC has turned into.

Thanks for your coverage of NMS - Please do some Elite coverage especially with the new ships and Power Play coming. I do not think you will ever convince a hard core SC player to play NMS. They do not compare with each other - and only one is a released game. As a released game NMS will continue to grow and get better while SC is still figuring out what it wants to do and how to best monitize it. It is great how NMS mentions a release and features and you are playing the next day while SC mentions features but leave it up to you to test for months . Like I said only one is an actual game. It comes down to what you are willing to accept. Hours of gameplay or hours of technical frustration and hope. Its our choice but at the end of the day NMS does not have the content creator coverage of SC because frustration and hope gets more clicks and sells more than actual game play.

NMS is an awful game. There is nothing to actually do. You walk around pointing a laser at objects to get materials, then craft upgrades so you can do the same thing again. The combat is weak, all the enemies are easy to defeat, and there is no actual point to fighting them. All you do is travel to the same copy-pasted empty planets with nothing to explore. The worst part of the game is the derelict freighters, which have no enemies and you just walk around opening crates. You need to do this to upgrade your freighter, so you're forced to play waling simulator for hours hoping to get the salvaged frigate module. You can't affect the universe, the story is meaningless and you just travel from object to object. There is no progression, no reason to upgrade your ship, and nothing fun to actually do in the game. Any base you build is pointless, any system you explore is just the same boring empty worlds... Literally the worst game I've ever played.

In No Man's Sky you create your own story, but some people just want to be told what they have to do. Fair enough.

I've had star citizen for 5 years an there is literally nothing more in then you described for this game great looks on things that dont work or work badly . They are called game loops for a reason

honestly most games have no purpose but the one you give to it. star citizen suffers from the same problem. call of duty suffers from the same problem. minecraft suffers from the same problem. most games have no more purpose then you give them now the question becomes with these games I listed how many of them can you give a purpose. Star citizen you can try to earn a ship, try to rp some cool encounters out, or just explore to see stuff. Cod you can aim for camos. Minecraft you can aim for a certain style of structure. all games have no inherent goal other then the ones you give there is nothing making you complete a game either nor stop once you beat a game.

@@ProgrammistMusic You have missions, events, weekeend events, gear and actual ships as rewards. Currnetly making some quicksilver missions and taking advantage of the weekend one. And we STILL have 4 more Planets updates to look forawrd to. And not "soon TM" but like soon soon with Part 1 already delivered. These SC fanbois crying about how boring a game they dont even play or know is has to be the saddest thing Ive seen in a long time.

Graphics sucks. I prefer playing demo on star citizen and have real feelings flying than this arcade game 😂 GEM you are so wrong

Banned by Night-Rider CiG for having an opinion, and if you care so much about graphics enjoy playing tech demos with bad gameplay, where streamers get you banned for killing them, where the devs loathe there own players and community and have been gaslighting them for 14 years.,

@@leetbusBeen there done that too. 😂 7 days. Happens again I'll just give my honest opinions to Spectrum posts via RU-vid videos. I give kudos to Hello Games for what they have done with NMS even though I have no plans of ever playing it. Now the new game they have coming out, the title slips mind right now, that I'm interested in.

Graphics are now better in NMS than the aged, all the same people and empty planets on SC. Flying close to water is amazing in NMS. Enjoy your master modes and not being able to leave your hangar becuase of 2 hours of micromanaging your inventory. 😅

@@gemreviews2840 I don't know how long you've been a backer but it's been intended to be that way since 2015... There's no less than 9 years worth of research for you to have looked at prior to buying the tech demo Alpha it's at right now. Just because YOU don't want that doesn't mean the early backers don't.
