I visited LA for the first time (from the UK) and was very disappointed with the condition of the walk of fame and the Hollywood area in general. I felt so unsafe walking down there even in the early evening. Having said that, Santa Monica & Venice Beach was fantastic and full of the energy I was expecting. Take care Simon

Where I'm from cougars (or mountain lions to most Americans) are more concentrated on my little island then anywhere else in the world, I spend thousand of hours in the bush and have yet to see more then a tip of a tail, they are very elusive and in reality you should be much more scared of dehydration then the lion.

Grew up visiting LA, and Santa Monica in particular, in the 80's and it was always great. Was there in 2019 and the stories were true; it's a shit hole. Homeless everywhere, being told not to wander more than a few blocks back from the beach, only being a few blocks in most directions before facing the inevitable threat of crime. LA has nosedived. No wonder so many affluent people are moving out. Great video mind Simon! Just be safe.......

I lived in LA for a year studying abroad back in 2021. Hollywood and DTLA is stupidly sketchy at night you made the right call going to Santa Monica where it’s tourist central. No one pays for the metro because only the poorest people use it, it’s ridiculously underdeveloped and because it’s basically free it leads to the sketchiest people’s staying there. I got it from downtown to Santa Monica at 8am on a Saturday and people were shooting up on the metro. Homeless in LA are so drugged up it’s completely different in the UK where it’s often people are just down on their luck. LA is the best place in the world to live if you’re a millionaire, but if you’re not it’s an absolute mess
