AOC neglects the History of Buffalo heards that took days, sometimes weeks to move by. We replaced those with cattle. At first, like with most ventures, it was as many cattle as you thought you could control AND it really still is. What you can handle, feed, get to market and keep the price right. There are probably about the same poundage of hooved critters out there BUT theyre in smaller heards and spread out. Negates impact.

That unroller would be perfect for my farm. We planted buckwheat in the fields last summer to add nutrients quickly, plus we added lime. We are going to reseed with alfalfa hay mix for horses next spring. This unroller seems inexpensive and perfect for small farmers and small batch ongoing soil maintenance. Great video and bloopers 😂

Josh, I just got through unrolling 2 rolls myself this morning with my unroller. It’s the best purchase I’ve made on my farm. Greg has said for every cow pie that equals $1 in his opinion. I will count mine up (in a paddock) every so often just to see how much money I’ve saved in fertilizer. Have an awesome day!

Josh I come from a pioneer farm family and one of the old tricks for pasture was to mix some clover seed in the mineral or feed a small amount of grain with clover seed Ladino or red clover .The seeds will pass ingestion and be deposited with the cow patty ..Instant fertilizer ,you will quickly see small little clumps of clover all over your pasture farm by the next year and the clover takes nitrogen out of the air and provides natural fertilizer

Love the natural stuff! I'm trying to build my compost pile but im not so good at getting it to compost down. Lol! And then I also realized that getting the stuff isn't easy either! I really think it was the manure I put down this spring that saved my hay from the drought! Thats a nice lil roller you have there!

We had a long piece of chain link fence netting that was set up like a drag harrow. Drug it around the pasture with a CJ3B to break up and spread out the patties, worked great. Your ATV's would drag something like that around easily. Also, helps to push the cows a little every day so they move around. Enjoy your channel.

🎄 hi Josh .I saw a video on bib overalls, to keep the shoulder straps quiet and not getting all twisted in the dryer ,they hooked the straps to the waist side buttons and buttoned them up ‼️ Why didn’t I think of that 👨🏼‍🌾

I was watching that one that Mike from OWL has and that’s neat, but this one is so much more practical and inexpensive for the small farmer or homesteader.glad you are doing what’s best for your animals and your land. Find a heavy duty pipe that you can suspend between pins on bale unroller. Use to carry and lay out flexible water pipe, fencing, wire, whatever comes in rolls.

That's great 1. stop soil eroision, 2 add organic matter to dead land. 3. compaction and soil turning with very sharp Hooves (inside joke). 4. Natural and organic fertilizer patties. it will grow grass witht he seed. :) Pray for rain in the spring.

Love the idea but is anyone doing this with a tractor and pallet forks? We only have 3 cows and 8 goats but you can see in our videos that we have areas that are over trampled......this seems like a great idea!

SRF you're getting good at putting little red "teasers" in the back ground. ALMOST TO 475k WOOOOOO!!! Edit: WHY DO COWS CHEW ON PLASTIC!? Ive seen them chew on buckets, atv fenders, water bottles etc... Ive always wondered lol. Also, SRF, have you ever thought about throwing something like an exercise ball out to the cows? My Grams always had one for the horses and they loved it.

Josh You should still get your soil tested You may be low in micro nutrients like Baron and Mg You are not going to get that from hay not likely anyway ..Micro nutrients are cheap to apply

Love the bale roller Josh. One question. The bails are rolled up clockwise or counterclockwise. Does it matter which direction you hook up to them to unroll them?

Never bought the sidekick...just ran up and did a review while shopping....I have the X1140 totally different than the sidekick...it's hydrostatic drive. I still have it and still use it...but I sure love the ATVs for quick runabouts on the farm

I’ve wanted to try one of these for one of our leases for awhile. Our bales are wrapped super tight so o was concerned the spikes wouldn’t go in easy. Do you think they would drive fairly easy into tight bales? Are the spikes safe to take a mallet or sledge too?

These tires seem pretty good....I watch Gregs channel all the time and he's not had any issues...remember they're distributing about 400lbs a piece...no more footprint than a good pair of boots

Do you have to load the hay roll in the direction it was rolled up or can you load it either direction? If it is unidirectional, how hard is it to know which way that is?

Either direction will work....in fact backwards spreads the bale a bit further and actually "fluffs" up the roll while unrolling...but either way will work great

If I get a hay unroller will I need to purchase more hay than normal or will i still use about the same amount of hay. I ask because i do not want to run out of hay during the winter. If I need to purchase more I would like to know before I start rolling the hay.

the cows consume 95 % of every bale I roll out if that helps ya....however....what you won't have to do is start your tractor every day and compact your fields or make a big mud hole...we always over buy so we don't run out of hay

Not dissing u josh. Weighed a lot of hay last year. If those were sold to you as 700lb bales then you got taken. I think the only way to buy hay is to run the whole trailer over the scales and pay accordingly.
