Hey great video found you from the sub Reddit. I especially appreciated the suggestions of brands for relevant piece’s. Would love to hear what brands you like best for OBD shirts. I’m going to take a look at your video on pants for tips. If you’re trying to think of video ideas I’d appreciate a video on how to dress Ivy in hotter an humid climates.
I think traditional ivy brands like j.press make great stuff. For lower bugdget brands like Uniqlo or ll bean are cool. More expensive the Collab with j press x Todd Snyder as well as the brand drakes are cool as well.
I was heavy into the Ivy look about 7-8 years ago, it's got a lot of heritage without feeling too costume-y. Two ODB shirts that reproduce the Brooks Brothers collar roll are Beams Plus and Karmakura Vintage Ivy shirts by Graham Marsh. Brooks Brothers has also brought back their line of American made OBD for about $200. Avoid OBD shirts with short collars if you really want the look. J. Press is great but there are made for a much larger frame so, if you're under 6' 1" and 180 lbs, they can be very billowy.
It's not even the slim cuts, for me what is terrible is the pants looking more and more like leggings instead of any other kind of cut/shape. Slim cut isn't that bad; in my opinion it's over used which leads to people with awful wardrobe/fit ruining it.
Interesting question, I generally choose to wear a white t shirt in most of my videos in an attempt to cultivate a consistent theme throughout my video. Although in my most recent video I was wearing a white and blue shirt! 😳 I want the focus to be on the specific pieces and ideas that I am talking about in the videos. I feel that consistency in what I am wearing is helpful with that. Plus these T-shirt’s from Mr Freedom just fit so well! They’re a great options to wear in hot Southern California where I live. Generally I tend to wear a majority long sleeve button up shirts in my day to day life both for style and to stay out of the sun but I don’t feel they felt me further the goals of this channel. Thanks for the question!
