"No More Mr. Nice Guy" by Dr. Robert Glover is a groundbreaking self-help book that explores the 'Nice Guy Syndrome', a pattern of behavior where men suppress their genuine feelings in fear of disapproval, resulting in people-pleasing, avoidance of conflict, and repressed identities.

Mind blown how much this book resonates with myself, my father, and honestly most men in society with many of the current conventional wisdoms perpetuated about em. Pathological niceness can make a man suicidal - absolutely.

This is very good but if you have experienced a particularly bad childhood, by abuse, neglect or both this is easier said than done. In any case, everyone can benefit from the best therapy ever created - IFS, Internal family systems, some wounds are very deep and having access to the Self which IFS makes easy is not just incredibly helpful and less of a struggle, it's imperative

I agree with majority is being said their are many reasons why some men are nice guys that are overly pleasing to women. One reason is some boys grow up with father's that abuse assault their mother's sometimes they see their mothers boyfriend or stepfather's be doing the same awful things to their mothers. Many women that are single mothers don't teach their son's about women's nature also turn them into the nice guys they would have dated in their desirable years. I understand women are confirmable with men that are assertive dominant and direct with boundaries if women want the irresponsible self centered jerks and bad boys that are foolish and manipulative they shouldn't complain getting cheated on disrespected and abused by them. Another issue women have with nice guys they don't be direct assertive with boundaries don't get me wrong some men pretend to be nice guys to get sex from women some people don't understand some nice guys aren't comfortable being foolish and trifling like the jerks and bad boys women be complaining about. So often after getting older average manipulated with emotional baggage women will want the nice guys to pay the price for what they given to the jerks and bad boys for free without effort and commitment. Every day more average older modern women are complaining why men aren't approaching or making a effort to build a serious committed relationship. Women need to be aware men with time money and resources aren't obligated to be stepfather's fitting the bill for another man's kids and irresponsibly. The other day on another show a older average woman felt bad she wasn't responsible with her smv value in her early teens and 20's a few nice guys she friend zone are in good relationships with younger women. It's all about being a responsible assertive dominant leader with boundaries along with the truth when being involved with women in the dating market as well knowing when to walk away.

All it takes to see what women want is to watch any even semirealistic TV show or movie. The guy everyone likes is wholesome but not naive, strong but not swaggering or rough, self-aware but not self-conscious, outdoorsy or bookish but in a balanced way, helpful but not infantilizing, and interested but not pushy or desperate, polite but not mincing. The keys are true confidence, true empathy, and truly recognizing that both you and the other person are adults.

I understand. This was my question in my youtube community where people voted between dark or white background and majority said dark. Do you find if l use colored text on dark background may make it easier rather than black or white text?

But the many friends i had didn’t had healthy rolmodels themselves… many many families have toxic behaviors ! How can you discern if someone has your best interest in mind? Nobody talks about like friends being nice but jealous and ready to stab you in the back when times right. I have a lot of trust issues because of it. I never met someone who’s really authentic i think many are portraying a facade ! Just look at the statistics between man an woman… it’s not going into the right direction because many are traumatized and don’t even know it. Many people expres toxic behaviors without knowing the harm it causes because they aren’t educated about it…

@rik-keymusic160 I understand what your saying. Some people express toxic behaviour not only because they are not educated in one aspect they aren't self-aware. There are four self-awareness archetypes 1) Introspectors- they are clear on who they are but don't challenge their own views 2) there are those who are aware- they know who they are and what they want to accomplish 3) seekers- don't yet know who they are and what they stand for 4) pleasers- are focused on appearing a certain way to others that they overlook what matters to them. Self-awareness is key and the first step to accept change in ones behaviour. I am not an expert but to answer your question how to best discern if someone has the best interest in mind is to look if their actions do match their words. People who don't have the best interest cannot fake it for long they eventually reveal who they are. One way to test someone is to pretend you don't know something or try to act not smart to see whether that person may choose to take advantage of you or your incapability.

I used to be such a sweet sweet thing till they got a hold of me. I open doors for little old ladies and help the blind to see. I got no friends cuz they read the papers, they can't be seen. And me I'm having a real short time and I'm feeling mean...

As Dr. Glover says, "I frequently remind Nice Guys that the opposite of crazy is still crazy, so becoming a “jerk” isn’t the answer." One constant recurring point he reiterates is that instead of being a 'nice guy', simply be oneself; not specifically an asshole, simply, "just as you are".
