Greetings from Colombia. I also use a T-Knot for a high-low rig on a 20lb mono. Only the dropper part of the knot, I do it different, an easier way in my opinion. But the T part of the knot I do it exactly like you. I guess, however people are used to tying the knot, you might think it's easier, but either way is fine. Important for people to understand, use a small hook. Your circle hooks are also small which is great. If people use classical J hooks, I recommend size 14. That size catches me small, medium and big fish. People might think size 14 is tiny but that size works excellent. There are a lot of fish out there with small mouths, pompano for example. Bluegill and tilapia to name a few more. So yeah, I've used the T-knot for years and it's the best.
Just tried it, I always end up with a clumpy mess of conglomerated knot that isn't usefull to anyone. Does it work only with very thick lines? I'm trying it with a 0.22 with no avail.
It would be better if you do this with a black background inside with lots of light and use a thicker white line or thicker green line like you are using
Hey skipper if you come out to California, I can get you on some better fishing than your last trip… Recently, Christian, from Make Time For Fishing came out from Charleston to San Diego with Glen from San Dogg Adventures to compare East Coast Sheepshead vs California Sheephead… please check them both out 🍻
It took me one day to figure out how to do the T knot. Your videos provide a lot of good information. Would it be possible to share with us where we can buy those bait pellets for the shrimp? And a video on the care and maintenance of your rods after a day of surf fishing.
I love this rig. I call it the chicken rig lol. Only thing I do different is the first part. Ill form the loop, but wrap it around my pointer and middle finger to create the first knot. It is just easier for me. I do save you videos on these so I can go back for the 2nd part of the rig since I keep forgetting how to.
So far, I've really enjoyed all your videos. I love seeing you with your family. Your dad and Erin are super! Thought I would give this T-knot a try. I'm using 20# flourocarbon and with my short fingers, this stuff just doesn't play well. Out of about a dozen tries, I think I tied 1 T-knot and it had a tiny gap between the knots. After clipping off mistake after mistake, I've concluded this is not the knot for me. I get to go fishing about once a year and that vacation is coming up in a few days or I would just buy some of your rigs. Next year! Keep up the great work, I love you guys
Greetings brother fisherman I always watch your videos. I fish a lot, thank you for sharing how much you know about this beautiful sport that is fishing, thank you
Tried practicing it and the mono I’ve been trying to practice on 30 pound mono just keeps tangling up no matter what i try. Very frustrating any other pointers to not have it tangle up on itself
Do you ever use peeler/soft shell crabs 🦀?? I don't think theirs a fish on this planet that wouldn't be tempted by peeler crab it's an absolutely killer bait..
Thanks for sharing the T-Knott learning. It is fun 😀 Just a question !!! How does everyone sharpen their fishing 🎣 knife's, I've tried stones, and I just can't get it right 😕 any help, tips, please 🙏
Beautiful knot but I don't know why it doesn't work for me not in terms of catch a fish but in terms of strength after I lubricate the knot I try to tighten it it snaps maybe I'm doing something wrong
Just to mention the reason you put saliva on the knott is it helps the knott slide together and prevents any fraying of the line, I have to say you come up with some great rigs and some I think are just adding more hooks to a scratching rig, no offence man love this channel but I just think you don't need a different knott or rig every episode. ❤ much love from the isle of man.
great content..... sorry to get off the subject but i wanted your opinion on using a circle hook on the back of a kastmaster lure. i dont like using treble hooks
Hey skipper. I placed an order 4 weeks ago and haven’t received it. It was for your rig where I place chum in it to place on my line. In the same order I placed an order for the plastic box with salt and baits and haven’t received it either. HELP
Hey Scott! We are so sorry to hear you never received your package! Please email us at info@heyskipperfishing.com so we can check your order number and see where it ended up. Thanks so much for your support and we will get this right for you!
I used these but at the same time I wondered if or how much line strength I was losing in the process, maybe you'd like to test it out and maybe some other knots.
It is plenty strong enough. I was using this knot on my snook rod, trying out a double drop rig for snook fishing with cut pieces of mullet. Well, large lemon sharks swim in the troff just off the bank same as the snook. It was a large lemon shark that got to the bait first. I stayed hooked up for a while before finally getting bit off, and had my drag maxed out. The knot held fine.
