I love how people say "Jack's don't taste good". I'm a fisherman who tries stuff, before I say anything about it. I've grilled Jack Crevale and it's delicious! A lot like Florida Pompano! Granted, the Jack's I've eaten have been 2 to 5 pounders, but grill a fillet sometime and see.
Hunger as a spice helps. The white head meat makes a very good chowder. Treat filets like wild game salt to remove blood, vinegar to remove wild taste, milk to smooth out taste. Deep fry after battering with instant potatoes this makes it nice and crunchy. ENJOY "Catching Reel Memories" I enjoyed the video . Thanks
About 15 years ago in Pensacola we caught a 53.5 lbs crevalle jack and didn't know it was a Florida record at the time. Our guid said it wasn't good to eat but I googled it found lots of people disagreed so we had it filleted and grilled it and it was wonderful
I'm fine with people coming around but don't try and coach me that crap is so Annoying I'm trying to enjoy the process of catching a big fish I don't need some guy trying to coach me thru the entire thing. And then I can't stand those guys who chase my fish thru the water trying to land it like bud get out the way so I can beach it on the sand because your just making things worse by getting wrapped up in the line. Or I had a lady who hopped in the water thinking I had a big fish so she wanted to chase it. It ended up being a huge stingray that acted like a normal fish just having long runs and never sucking down to the sand so as she's Chasing it she almost stepped on it and it almost stung her. She got mad at me telling me I should have told her it was a stingray yet I kept telling her get out the way I told her I can't control what gets on my line and i never got eyes on it but like the Karen she was she still got more angry.
I caught a 30lb plus Jack a few years back in Grand isle La and if you know how to cook this fish it taste as good as tuna, or amberjack. Cut the blood line out and season up the fish steaks and grill it. It would make amazing Fish Tacos. Too many people say it's a trash fish. You would be surprised if you tryed. 😁😉
Never watch sport videos. I just watched the whole thing your knowledge of the actions of the fish was amazing. You knew what it wasn't before it came in...nice nice catch
Aloha from Hawaii Fishgum!!! Over here we would call that an Ulua! If it’s 30 lbs or over. Awesome fight footage. I hope to catch one close to that size here on my fishcam line so I can post the vid on my channel. But kinda risky if the fish breaks off the mainline with the fishcam attached to my leader!! Great fight sequence with an audience bro! The stuff fisherman dream about!!! Aloha 🎣🎣🎣🤙🏽🏝️
@@ronaldshum2361 sorry -yes Ronald you are correct--10 lbs and over is the demarcation between papio and Ulua--I had 30lbs stuck in my head because my cousin just landed a 30 pounder this past weekend while fishing off his kayak in Kaneohe bay-thanks for the correction--aloha 🤙🏽
Glad it wasn't a shark! That crowd would've put themselves in danger because some were WAY too close and almost interfering. Lack of respect for the fisherman! I'd only want a pic if I had caught it!!
After such a good fight the fish doesn't get released and becomes a photo op for tourists ask the fish what he thinks if you don't eat it turn it loose
Great job it did not hit bottom yet , I would ask them to stay back please till I get it in and thank them that is what a fisherman love to fight to keep it
Top fishing mate the way you explained how to play the fish I’ve seen maney fisher people walk down the beach lake and river banks to regain line on the Fish. I’m a bit like your self if I hook a good Fish i try to play the fish in the one spot it most likely will take longer to play the fish in but I have a lot of pachence I’m very cool when playing fish. It’s very serprizing how many fisher people do not stand in the one spot when playing the fish a lot of anglers in Australia and on utube fish this way. Laurie. From down under. Tight lines.
I caught a good one in the backwaters of Perdido Bay. I was catching redfish and stuff, totally did not expect that. We grilled him like tuna, and actually didn't taste bad. I felt like he looked like steak, so we treated him like steak.
Way to go Tony! I love my Ocean Master rods from Offshore Angler. I’ve used mine for 25 Years. By the way Tony, I’m up to 325 reels in my vintage saltwater reel collection. - Chris
Pulled a small shark out on St Augustine beach and I was trying to get my hook out of its mouth when two ladies with New York accents walked up. One exclaims, "THAT'S A SHARK"! Other one yells, "THEY SHOULDN'T LET THOSE SWIM HERE. PEOPLE SWIM HERE"! I told her, ok, next time I'll hang a NO SHARKS ALLOWED sign on my hook.
I was body surfing in southern california and I saw a huge crowd about 200 yards away down the beach, I asked what was going on and they said ,a shark fishing contest, I asked where the net was that separated the beach from them and the guy said , what net? lol I had no clue. Last time I ever went in the water.
He, He, Back in the 1980's Woke up and looked down the beach and saw huge black shadow fish runs. Hurried and started casting. 2-4 Lbs Blue fish run. Caught 4 for myself and crimped the barbs. Asked walking by strollers if the wanted fish?, Guess their look at me. Asked then to hold and caught a few. Lots walked away with a couple of fish in their hands. A not so experienced fisherman walked up to me for advice. Walked away with a pile of bluefish
That’s actually a GREAT tasting fish. Caught one fishing in Costa Rica last summer. My guide talked me into keeping it after he mentioned how underrated the fish is for the table. He was spot on. I cubed it up and soaked it overnight in water to get out as much blood as possible (it’s very red meat). Seasoned and cooked in butter on a big griddle. We wanted fish tacos. Tasted like mild beef 🤤nom🤤nom🤤
Hard to believe you haven't caught one before, although this one is a rare size, where I live at the north end of the Indian river, it's almost a trash fish, and it's hard to keep them off your line....
I'm from montana, so right off, excuse my ignorance but....haha had bo idea alabama had a beach, on the ocean. To me thats like montana being oceanside
When I googled about your fish that you caught the Jack Cale, I asked if it was good to eat, and there were conflicting statements. Some of the comments stated that it was a good fish to eat with firm flesh and mild taste. It also went on to say that it wasfood fair throughout the region where it runs. Another comments it said it didn’t taste that good.
