The crazy thing is that Neymar also works very hard off the ball. He presses and wins tackles while still offering a lot in the attack. But you are right, his refusal to lift weights (because his santos coach believed it would hurt his playstyle if he gained too much muscle), as well as partying, combined with poor refereeing in the french ligue (the refs allow a lot more reckless tackles than La liga), curtailed Neymar's career. The media only focuses on the partying and "sister's birthday conspiracy" but you can see the clear difference in referees' attitudes toward Neymar in Ligue 1 which is why he was injured almost every season except the 19/20 season. Edit: And of course in the only season Neymar was completely fit (19/20) PSG reached a champions league final for the first time in their history.

He's not the best in history, but without a doubt he's among the best, the most fun player I've seen on the field. Ronaldinho was spectacular, but he depended a lot on physical strength, Neymar is different, he seems to float on the field, he doesn't have a bad leg, just watch the video and look at the amount of things he does with his left. Look honestly…. Neymar > Ronaldinho. And I grew up on Ronaldinho but Neymar could do everything including play in a Barcelona system of passing moving and being a supporting cast. He can play in a team he can play by himself and take over a game he can play in any jersey and will give you brilliance and gave us that from 17 years old to 30. The consistency and level of this man and longevity combined has only been seen by 2 people… Messi and CR7
His technique is truly excellent, there are no words to best describe it. Too many injuries, too little fitness and some off-field skirmishes have not made him a champion like Messi and Ronaldo.
