Hot in Cleveland revolves around three fabulous L.A. women of a certain age who are best friends( Valerie Bertinelli , Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick.) @@nv8227 yeah I already know that as Rue McClanahan read for Rose 1st while Betty white read for Blanche but Rue n Betty saw how much both were to their previous characters they swapped roles instead cause the Creators wanted them both so he allowed them 2 n the rest is epic history! As The rose character was like Rues character on Mamas Family while the Blanche character was supposed to be like the Sue Anne Niven's character!

I know! GREAT show and great role and performance by Betty. And the age she did it? Amazing. Leaving it out of her works and memoriums makes no sense - I figure it was by accident and must've been someone's mistake. Also interesting is that I think she and the show only intended to have her in a guest role for the first 6 episodes? And she ended up staying as a main role.

@@jasonlindsey9946 she definitely balanced out that show! 😂 I've always liked multigenerational representation / inclusivity. I think it makes things and storylines richer. But of course the cast and storylines have to be great and Betty was more than up to that challenge. I loved her ridiculous storylines - the whole mayor of Cleveland era, her romances, and the play she wrote and staged about her life and not so subtly based on the three other main characters! Omg. So many great episodes. Such a funny show! 😂🤗

I know Elka's dialogue and character remind everyone of Sophia. I can see that too. In some ways, Mamie Sue seems the most Rose-like. But there is a difference in Elka's role...while Joy, Melanie, and Victoria have been friends a long time, Elka only joined their circle more recently.

Real enduring talent. I watch the Golden Girls so much I know the scripts by heart and still rock with laughter every time. One of their greatest gifts was to deliver their lines not only with perfect timing but in clear as crystal voices which meant you never missed a single word. I have lost count of the number of really good productions I have stopped watching because of actors speaking their lines through closed lips and mumbling their lines. Once one of the most important things an actor learned was delivery.

I did not watch Hot In Cleveland during its run in the 2010s. After Betty White passed away I've found myself in a rabbit hole of RU-vid videos about her. After watching a couple these Hot In Cleveland compilations I now realize that it was basically a show that used the formula that made Golden Girls a hit back in the day. I regret not tuning in and following Betty on what would be her final television series success. RIP
