I'm so glad LK got around to breaching this subject, always love seeing a little BB competitive history. I always found it kind of perplexing how Noel was consistently complained about despite only really being a big big deal in CSII. Couldn't really comprehend it at the time because Blazblue was pretty much my gateway into fighting games so it's nice to have an informed retrospective laid out like this giving context to stuff I witnessed but couldn't make total sense of way back then. Although Noel casually pulling out 4.5k-5k damage everywhere on screen I can recall. even picked her up as a tertiary character just because combos looked fun. And training mode was fun with her lol

Normal characters with overturned tools can be cool, but it's pretty annoying when it's just big damage and fucked-up risk-reward. Love seeing BlazBlue, though, as always.

When I tried CF, I tried Noel cause I thought the guns were cool and such, but it felt so hard to learn the game with her. I really wanted to keep at it, but I had a difficult time with her kit and options, and I heard later on about how much she was gutted since CS and it made me lose interest. Made me sad

BB was such a nice series. The visuals and character designs appealed even to us non-anime lovers simply because it struck the nice balance between the modern moe blob + big boba style and the nice older style of anime art. Balancing though...the Arcsys balance memes didn't arise without a reason. From top to bottom or from bottom to top, broken like our pink haired cat lady during her release period...good old times

Is her design a moe blob? I liked playing as her (Hazama was still my main) though that might have something to do with her English VA

My friend told me to get CS Extend back in the day. When I saw the intro movie it was an instant buy. Lol That was the first fighting game I tried that had mechanics like jump cancel, air dash, dash cancelling, etc. I didn’t get it until late and everyone was playing BBCF so I picked that up too. Anyways, I thought Noel was cool. Been my main ever since. My friend hates her. When he fights one he always yells, “I HATE THAT STUPID LITTLE HAT!!!” Lmao

I played Noel from CT to CS1, then quit the series. Even with her craziness in CS2 I couldn’t go back. They had needed her boxes to the point that couldn’t counter poke anyone in CS1, so neutral strictly became “throw your body at the enemy and hope something good happens before you take too much damage.” In CS2 it’s the same, except the frame data, and damage was so good that that was now a winning strategy. lol I just don’t think it’s a fun one.

Hell, I've played the Garbage-Chan since BBCT until BBCP (where I switched to mah boy Kagura and never let go even through BBCF1.0). Honestly, Noel at that point of time was like a... Redemption arc. Especially after being bullied by Tagers for so long. Imagine having half of your attacks as "Projectiles". BBCT was wack af. And SLEEEEDGE was the bane of my existance.

I wanna like Noel I really do, mostly because I like gunslinger characters in fighting games. However between the fact that she has been reduced to a plot device in the story and the fact that I find her one of the most boring characters playstile wise and also one of the most annoying (those high and low profiles are cursed) I really can't bring myself to care and I've even a bit glad she is still paying the price for her warcrimes in CSEX. With all that being said, I'll patiently wiat for the Makoto video
