I love your reactions, they just brighten up my days. I really appreciated the lack of dialogue and more of story telling by showing. Very underrated.

Fun fact , the actress said when she got the part and read the title she had the instant fear that she’d have to run in a scene saying she can’t run and is self conscious of how she looks running and was worried feeling out of shape that she’d struggle to film those acne Ed multiple times so she asked the director casually if there’s he running and he responded yes , a number of scenes , she told him I’m not a good runner and he replied oh I’m sure you are the female Tom Cruise ,,.just imagine it’s real and run for your life. She said she was so terrified and worried so she watched a few Tom cruise run scenes and decided with the 6 months until filming she was going to practice form and actually run longer distances and do sprints every single day for the 6 months so she would feel more comfortable . Jsut a few months in she’d fallen in love with running but still felt slow and like she had no form but as you see , I don’t think I’ve ever seen an actress run faster and with better form that she does In This movie. She legit looks so damn fast ! The scene of her running down the street with the camera on a vehicle in front of her the director did only 1 take telling her “shit, your rally are the female Tom cruise, we had to speed up the trucks pace becasue you were catching us! Funny enough a number of reactors and media sources have mentioned her fast ass run. Lol awesome

There are several summaries of this movie that are similar including the ending. The following is a brief summary taken from the Decider article on their website: The aliens appear to have sympathy for Brynn. They talk amongst themselves in their alien tongue and though we don’t get a translation they must say something along the lines of “This poor girl has been through enough. Instead of possessing her, let’s give her the happy ending she deserves.” Brynn is sent back to her home on Earth. In the final scene of the movie, she wakes up at home in a great mood. She does her make up, bikes into town, works on her model, and seems to be back to her perfect, simple life. The difference? Now all of her neighbors wave and smile at her, instead of ignoring her. More than that, they dance with her, chat with her, and just in general seem content to live a simple, happy, old-fashioned life with her. Why the change of heart? They’re all alien pod people. In the final shot of the film, the camera pulls back to reveal dozens of alien spaceships hovering over the town. Apparently, the aliens decided to possess everyone except Brynn. She was the only one in town with a tragic, sympathetic backstory with whom the aliens felt a connection having been outcasts themselves so she’s the only one who got to stay a human. It turns out that Brynn and the aliens are capable of living together - likely due to the connection and impact made through Brynn's memories. She no longer feels like an outcast and dances with the aliens like she's always dreamed of doing with other people. Given that most of the people around Brynn have been turned into mindless servants and that there are tons of flying saucers in the sky it's very possible that Brynn could be one of the last humans on Earth, if not the final one, full stop. Although the aliens' motivations behind the invasion aren't clear, it seems like they came to Earth to take it over and enslave the human population. Outside of Brynn, there don't appear to be any human survivors, and it should be noted that Brynn was only saved because the aliens grew to like her.

My ADHD is so bad I saw your cat, started wondering about the history of cat domestication and went and watched a bunch of videos on it. Now I’m back lol. Edit: Great movie, great reaction. Ending was cool. I think they saw she was “alienated” but strong and good hearted. So they let her be herself, therefore she was able to have influence over the clones and change the town the way she wanted. As for as what the rest of the world is like.. ? Who knows, but they definitely gave her the pass

Hey! I love that Stella was completely unbothered. I thought maybe the alien noises would perk her interest, so that goes to show that cats will either protect us or they know fake alien noises when they hear them. The lack of dialogue was very cool, and even though the aliens were the stereotypical renderings they were still creepy. I'm still not sure if only Brynn got the "happy ending" or if everyone else lives in the false sense of reality they want. I doubt it because we don't see her interact with Maude's family or her mom. Or is everyone's new version like that that? And when will the aliens get bored? Have they discovered Owl cake pops? I've never had one.

I love this protagonist she's such a badass, and this actress is wonderful. Top five final girls in the past few years at least.

Another great movie about an alien visitation/invasion is THE VAST OF NIGHT. That movie has far more dialogue but it also has moments of long silences and one of the most amazing long one single shot sequence of modern cinema that crosses an entire town from one end to the other. It also has a leading lady who is a really good runner as well.

Thankyou I enjoyed your reaction. My theory is firstly that the alien humanoid forms are simply hosts for (I am going to call them squids) the baby squids just like most humans end up becoming. Maybe they are bio mechanoids created for that very purpose? maybe they are another species the squids have infected? and so I don’t think they are particularly bothered by Brynn destroying various models. It’s just an inconvenience to them - after all we see it is pretty easy for them to create a clone version of Brynn, we can assume it is as easy to create new alien bodies as hosts as well. Saying that I am not exactly sure I understand why they bother to possess people at all if they can make copies without much time and effort? This leads me to believe they must prefer to possess other beings with a history and preserve the host’s memories and consciousness, perhaps that is just a more enlightened and interesting outcome to them? perhaps they want to do as little harm as possible to the race they possess and do not want to destroy the human minds and natural bodies out of hand? Secondly I think think the main issue the alien’s have after they finally get a squid into Brynn is due to her history, trauma and psychological state the squids cannot keep control of her and she is able to reject and remove the squid. They also are unable to easily replace her with a copy devoid of her consciousness. That begs the question why replace Brynns body at all? Perhaps the human form is preferable because it is optimised for life on earth? I mean from memory we never see them in the open sunlight maybe it is difficult for them to exist on earth in daylight or for a sustained period of time? In any case destroying her all together is an unsatisfactory solution to them. I believe people like Brynn are the exception rather than the rule to the squids efforts so they take the time to abduct her and investigate, perhaps their interest is aroused? Upon investigation they seem to see Brynn’s history and understand her emotional turmoil which is at the heart of her strength and resistance to them. Maybe they like her, feel empathy for her? Perhaps they feel she deserves a break. Whatever the case they assess she is not a threat as such if they just leave her alone so they decide to throw her back and leave her to her own devices. Here in Australia we have to throw back fish we catch if they are too small. Maybe this story presents the emotional version of this? I think the squids ultimately assess Brynn is not going to be a problem and in fact maybe it is even advantageous and fun for them to let Brynn exist within their community. They seem to be having fun with her at the end. In the end we see the world has totally changed for Brynn, she gets on swimmingly with her new squid/human hybrid neighbours. The squids are happy to accept, oblige and accommodate Brynn. They don’t seem to be busy with an alien agenda of their own. They are seen to be happy to be involved in helping Brynn live her best life. It’s ironic! The world is better for Brynn now that it is subject to alien invasion/occupation. I love this story it’s a lot of fun. Did I miss anything? Please let me know. Andrew

My interpretation is that because of her resilience (against the aliens and in overcoming her past), the aliens let her stay as herself whereas the rest of the town (or the world, even) was taken over by the aliens.

Hey Rob! I just finished watching this movie last night. This movie was super creative! I like that the aliens had the base classic design but each still had their differences, which kinda added to their personality. Plus Limbs McGee combined with the finger toes was nightmare fuel 😂. I saw it last week, the idea of something like the movie Signs but no speaking intrigued me. The ending made me laugh. Despite losing their own people to this one human, once they already achieved their objectives of taking over everyone else, they let her live the remainder of her life happier. That's the impression I got anyway. Her existence wasn't a threat to their motives. Such a peculiar trade-off.

i thought this movie was pretty good and for a movie with no dialogue it was interesting and it actually worked like that it's funny how i liked a movie with only a few words and no other dialogue and instead of aliens looking like monsters from other movies this one had the typical look of what a alien is "supposed" to look like , and the ending was basically her enjoying her new life with everyone else in town controlled by the aliens and that's the only way she's liked now.

I think what happened was since the aliens figured out why everyone is such an asshole to her, they took pity on her cuz she's such a badass so they let her keep her humanity and had all the thralls be nice to her. 😅

I've read a few different explanations about the ending of this movie... and I still don't understand it.

Great reaction video! This looked like a lot of fun. Obvs there are a plethora of interpretations possible, and I think that at least some open-endedness was intended by the director /cast /etc. - and while I don't really have a solid theory quite yet, I was reminded of another film - _The Ritual._ It seems both protagonists went though a traumatic event, one that caused them to be ostracized - not only by their peers, but also their own internal thought processes. But ultimately, they accepted the outcome of the trauma and the effect it had on them, and through this were able to gain some sort of re-entry into society. The major difference lies solely in how this was achieved, but I feel like the end message was quite similar. Anyway , thanks for doing these great reviews /reactions! I've been introduced to a lot of great films through this channel as well as the comments here. Such a great community!

Just watched your reaction and I'm just as confused. Maybe they got brainwashed at the end? 🤷

Personally think they made this *_too much_* like A Quiet Place, with the whole lack of dialogue and action-thriller stuff. I really liked the beginning where it was all just horror. It was a lot more tense before it became an slugfest IMO. The fact that she could just demolish multiple aliens really removed any fear that I initially had over the encounters. I think the first kill was enough. If they had made it harder to kill the subsequent probers, I think I would have still been tense during them. But it’s still well made, and surprisingly doesn’t get too stale without the dialogue. I do feel like the “I’m different and have a dead loved one so the bad guy will spare me” trope is a overdone however (this has been done in Split, amongst other movies before). Actress did a great job. You can really feel the desperation when she’s sneaking around town in the beginning and hiw much she misses just being a part of a community and her friend, and her fear and rage in the encounters. I like how the did the aliens, sticking to the usual appearance, but changing enough to make them feel more intimidating and give them multiple forms. The way they did those poses with their lanky ass arms and stood on their thumb toes was weirdly visceral and uncomfortable. Overall pleasantly surprised, but had some weak points. Would have liked more horror, less kills, and more unique character premises, the ending was sorta underwhelming. Pretty sweet visuals, sound effects, and alien design anatomically and ability-wise.
