It’s such a wonderful instrument! I don’t have much love for most gear released these days, but Vector is always fun, I’m always exploring, plus. I get lost, almost hypnotized watching the orbiters go! Great video… (so far, I’m still watching, it’s long 😁)

It has such a unique interface and synthesis style, it’s inevitable that it would be divisive, especially for people who prefer a more traditional synth. But, even though I count myself among that group, I ended up loving the Vector. I was initially skeptical, but I get sounds out of this thing that I would never get with my other synths. Soooo much movement and life. It’s a sleeper!

What a fascinating piece of equipment.

This is one of my bucket list synths. Because I haven’t seen many (if any) synths like it. And, oh, what glorious sounds it can make!

I just wanted to thank you. I'd been neglecting my Vector a bit and you gave me some fresh ideas to pursue and I wound up getting totally lost in a jam.

I sold a Prophet VS, and was looking for something that might replace it, that doesn't sound like a relic of the 80s, and the Vector is probably going to be that replacement for me. It feels like one of those synths that is infinitely powerful, and almost no one is digging deep enough with it

Pretty cool... it reminds me alot of Waves Flow Motion and Arturia Vector Synth.

I really like this, may be a synth I can dump on the desktop without having to sell a kidney.

I sooooo underestimated this box until I saw you vid, Jorb, and I soooooo want it now! What a desirable lovely box! Totally getting one... Are they only for sale on their website? Haven't been able to find them anywhere else... Price is near a thousand bucks now if I'm not mistaken?

I really like the way the orbiter screen allows for changes in modulation, that's interesting. But that matrix screen (eg at 22:36) just looks like the kind of thing that would keep me awake at night crying.

The closest I've seen to this synth is the "detour" module in vcv rack, made by Hora. It's free, if anyone wants to give it a whirl.

Do the shapes have an actual mathematical basis in the soundwaves/frequencies, or is it just a clever UI/interface that informs more standard synthesis styled controls? Is this the Prophet VS with more iteration, or something altogether new?

Maybe more helpful top turn your autofocus off, as your hand is going to mess with it, every time it wants to focus on your hand. Set the focus on the screen and leave it there. The auto focus is probably more handy when it's focused on you face and you are moving around. Great review as always. This synth was on my (maybe next year) list for 3 years now. Not helped by and price increase (which I understand) about 18 moths ago. But seeing you do a review I just had to tease myself by watching. Taiga is my next priority.

Why do you think the Focus button is so much smaller than all the others? Seems like given how important it is it should be the same size or bigger....

While I think the Vector does great things in the hands of a capable musician, I took a look at it at Superbooth '23, tried it, talked to the developers ... and it's not for me, I'm afraid. For the same reason I won't start with modular - it's just too much choice and I find it really, really overwhelming. I do like the company though and I think they did an amazing job with the Tempera.

Is the overtone generation really missing fine/detune? Could really help soften the digital character....

Vector is cheaper than the new Korg Kaoss Replay! A real triumph of innovation over bean-counter branding.

Animoog Z?

Hi! I'm Jorb and i forgot i had this gear...that was until i received an angry e-mail. True story :)

Holding onto his for a year is not cool. But good review.

The Vector seems to have taken a bunch of unusual vector designs from the iPad and distilled them into a unit of hardware! I see a lot of Moog’s Animoog & Virsyn’s Cube Synth but rendered with 4 “Oscillators” and more modulation and better overall quality. The price is rather reasonable-for-mortals as opposed to other hardware synths with higher price-tags. Tempting AF!

Chiral by Fors + anything with knobs is the same for $1300 less

I feel like this should be a $20 ipad app. It doesn't seem to really need or suit physical controls as well as it does touch screen.

Cool, 1000 bucks too much. Roland S one is only 200 bucks and it’s actually similar if not better because it’s 200 bucks
