Nailed it, Roger. Seen it sooo many times. That's what you get when you buy online instead of a plumbers merchants They rarely EVER state whether they are suitable for LP, HP or mixed pressure systems. Buy Flo? I bought a Flo once. The missus wasn't happy!

We have a mixer tap in the kitchen, have had both washers replaced but on Friday, the cold side was really hard to turn on like there was a build up of pressure and there was absolutely no water coming out. The water company have been digging up the bottom of our road, so I contacted them, who swiftly sent someone up. He said the work being done at the bottom of the road should not affect our water supply, as our 14 houses are on a different external stopcock to them. Five minutes later the tape was running normally. What do you think? Could it have been them or is it our tap?

I basin mixer taps in my bathroom that when I open the water will flow evenly for a minute or so and then the cold tap will start to flow at a greater rate leaving me washing my hands in cold water. What do you think causes this?

Powerstream unit is not designed for use with thermostatically controlled taps. So what would happen if thermostatic were used?

This tip may save me some work on my bath plumbing, hopefully. I have been building up (no pun intended) to fitting a pressure regulator on my bath's cold, to get a mixer with shower head functioning properly. Instead, maybe I can find a bi-flow one that can handle our ridiculously high water pressure.

I would run a cold supply from the tank in the loft to even out the pressure.

@@SkillBuilder that sounds like anothet good option. Might be an uphill climb to get my landlord to agree to that, but it is probably worth the discussion. Thanks for the extra tip. 👍

I’ve got a new bathroom tap that gets stuck when I turn on the cold tap nothing comes out so . I have to keep turning then, bang, the water is gushing out and I have to close back off a bit. Annoying. Any idea what might cause this?

The tap mechanism. It may be a broken circlip. Take the tap mechanism to the plumbers merchant and see if you can get a replacement.

Love the channel lads.I have an uneven concrete floor in my kitchen. Humps and mounds 3 inches high in places. Any advice??

Three inches out of level ? 😲 Or you mean it's three inches thick in places. 1) Raise it with floor leveling compound to even it up then put a finish floor down. No room to raise? 2) Jack hammer the concrete up (sure it's not a screed?) And redo better.

Easy way to find out if it’s bi-channel/flow or not on a tap? As you say, so many taps don’t specify.

Agree about the refund guys but I bet the taps went on before the sink was fitted and fantastic access. Now the sink has been fitted, clamped and mastic sealed down that's going to be a job that involves total removal of the skin from your knuckles and language so colourful that it isn't even covered in the Oxford dictionary (other makes of dictionary are available 😀). Plus all the travelling and gnashing of teeth where you are dealing with a complete drongo at the exchange desk in B&Q. My opinion of Screwfix staff is very much higher BTW. Best ask somebody who knows before you buy. That's my opinion anyway. 😃😃

6mm tails on the tap is another issue. to cause that.. should be 10mm. (?) I know because she picked the pretty ones that only dribble.. (6mm)

1:42 - that isn't correct. They do work and they are fit for purpose, it is just the customer bought the wrong ones for their situation. It is like trying to take a hammer back because you can't use it to drill a hole. The item does work and is fit for the the purpose it was designed. However, they are likely to still give a refund at B&Q etc due to their policy but you can't claim it is due to it not working or being fit for purpose just because you made an error when buying it.

That is fair enough as a legal point but in a consumer shop the fact that they will only work on 1 bar and above needs explaining. Most people have no idea what the static pressure and flow rate of their plumbing system is. If they had a guide to buying taps on the shelves it would help. I would therefore state that a kitchen tap that only works on mains pressure is not fit for purpose if the purpose is to use it to get water out of it and you happen to have a tank in the loft. If they said 'For Mains Pressure Hot Water Only' I would not argue.
