Thank you for countering this narrative. I was in strong disagreement with most of the all in crew who seems they didn’t really put a lot of depth of thought into the Goldman analysis.
We are at the dawn of the generative AI revolution reminiscent of the early App Store days. How many of us foresaw that we would manage much of our lives when the iPhone was introduced in 2007? Very few! AI's full potential lies in developing models trained on specific industries and companies' proprietary data. As AI continues to evolve, its integration into the physical world will deepen, further cementing its role as a transformative force across all sectors. Just as the iPhone and App Store created new services and companies that made millions of people and organizations vastly more productive, generative AI is set to be more transformative in how we work and live.
If the Klarna example was real then at least 10% other SAAS companies would have adopted those best practices by now and gotten similar results. But they have not. The reason is that the Klarna case is most likely exaggerated BS. When you are in a market frenzy you can get tons of free PR by telling people what they want to hear. I have seen it happen first hand. The most likely scenario is that Klarna had to lay off a bunch of people so they decided to make up an AI story to get tons of PR - AKA free advertising to their customer base. The idea that a swedish company has some secret sauce that nobody in SF can replicate is absurd.
