I'm in such a hypemode for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth at the moment, so precisely I had to make a lyrics video of this wonderful song! The song capured me since it was first revealed at the game awards 2023 last year! Fun fact; the songstress of this song (Loren Allred) is actually the real voice for the song "Never Enough" from the greatest showman. :3
I just finished rebirth yesterday, and I'm still very sensitive to this song. That last shot of Aerith watching the tiny bronco fly away broke my heart 😭
I am ar chapter 12 and having seen what s coming I don't know if I want to get to the end. I might as well start the remake where everyone is alive and you get that feeling of the beginning, the first meeting, the anticipation of what is to come.
Yeah that part hit likes a truck. I was bulging my eyes out. Cloud will save her in part 3 i believe or at least play a major part to bring her back. Zack is back so i think Zack will play a major role or could be her savior. 😢
@roastedlion1 I'm sure if we can't see our Aerith again, at least we will be able to save an Aerith from another world. It's my hope we can kill Sephirot before he kills all Aeriths from all worlds. That seems to be his purpose before merging all worlds together and summon meteor.
This song has finally worked its magic. I wasn't sure when I heard it at the Game Awards but now that I've completed FF7 Rebirth, this song won me over. The Aerith musical theme baked into it at the near end also helped.
I love how each and every love song composed by Uematsu-san feels like it's from the same time period. This one is so 1990s, just like Eyes on Me and Melodies of Life. I love it!
"I think I'm beginning to understand. An answer from the Planet. The Promised Land. I think I can meet her there." "Still I know someday you'll come and find me."
I think it will in either April or May. I already pre ordered all physical soundtracks discs, so far I know that hasn't gotten a release date.... but people are slowly releasing portions of songs on RU-vid so for now I am pleased
What was the inspiration behind No Promises to Keep? Uematsu: Since it is a ballad, I wanted to make it absolutely electrifying. I was asked to make the song so that the key phrase would play in repetition, and that’s when Harry Nilsson’s “Without You” came to mind. I took inspiration from it and decided to repeat a key phrase in the chorus. How did you feel when you first listened to “No Promises to Keep?” Uematsu: This is the first time I’ve heard this, and I’m glad she sensed exactly what we were aiming for. “No Promises to Keep” is a love song. I wanted it to exude a sweet feeling, but at the same time, evoke the complex feeling as Aerith confessed her feelings. I tried to build up the song as it climaxed, exactly as Loren described Was there anything you paid attention to when singing “No Promises to Keep”? Loren: I wanted to get to know Aerith well, and I also wanted to depict her relationship with Cloud. So, for me to channel her fragile and pure personality, I needed to change certain elements of my natural vocals to match up with her character. No Promises to Keep was inspired by, “Without you” I just listened to the version Mariah Carey sings in Tokyo and wow, you need to listen to it.
Thank you for this. I ain’t gonna lie - I cried when the credits rolled on screen when I finished the game. Rebirth was tough. It was long. It was exhausting. But dammit, it was all worth it, even though we couldn’t change fate. Till the day we meet again, Aerith. ❤️
The entire song is about cloud finding Aerith again. Her telling him to believe they will be together again! He has to find her in part 3! I truly believe when cloud deflected sephiroths sword at the end he created a new timeline where Aerith is alive.
@@blackzangetsu716 Tifa seems too selfish though, she only wanted to have Cloud be her hero because all the other boys left so she made him promise. She ignored him as kids and even in remake she pushed him to the side to hang with her gang. Aerith truly cares for him and tries her best to help him. He never seemed bothered by her and he definitely smiled more at her. She makes him truly happy. And just as the fortune said, Aerith is what he charishes the most. Hollow is also about clouds feelings toward Aerith. Its ok you like Tifa, the have is set up so you can like whichever, but when you really look into the whole game, Aerith is his #1 choice, as she should be.
@@TheDelightfulFlowerLady no she is not is number 1 choice and remember in the og cloud had sex with tifa and aerith told cloud she only liked him at first because he reminded her of someone else (zack) sure she grew on him but thats just her nature personality. .tifa was like a tom boy but she also cared for cloud even when they was kids..the other kids didn't want cloud around..tifa and aerith both hiding things from cloud but its more suitable for cloud and tifa together and aerith and zack together..if zack wouldn't have died she would have been with him..she even went as far as to check on his family when she got to gonga village so yea she still loves zack too
If Tifa is waifu, then Arisu is my goddess. That has never change since the day I saw her in the original FF7 back in its release. Arisu's tragic life hurts our heart deeper than the center of Gaia. Till today I ache and grieve for her death and rebirth is going to make it a whole other level lol....
Same!! It also says so in Hollow from Cloud pov: "when broken up, you would appear." I think this part is for part 3. The part where he sings about "was it all a dream, will I ever know? Foolish and blind to everything. Had I realized, had I thought it through, would you be here in my embrace?" Is about the dream date with him and Aerith in Rebirth
@mariolurita6355 yes, I hope so too! I also think he will be able to safe her (if he didn't already in one of the timelines). Soooo many things suggest to it!! When Cloud says at the end: Aerith, I WILL stop Sepiroth, I can't help to think it has a deeper meaning to it.
Thank you for putting this here without spoilers (even though I played the original FFVII). This song is just so beautiful yet heartbreaking. I prefer to take the last verse positively that she knows Cloud will come and find her someday. Hopefully they will conclude this story well. 4 years is a long wait.
Hopefully less than that? When they announced Rebirth they said they were also working on the 3rd game so they could cut back on the delay of release. 🙏🤞
Final Fantasy 7 means the world to me, the first game to ever make me cry and a truly defining experience in gaming! Experiencing it again through Remake and currently playing through Rebirth i know the waterworks are going to flow all over again! And I am so thankful it will because this game deserves this experience and cinematic level adventure! Absolutely incredible! 😍😭✨🌹
lyrics Walking city streets with worn cobblestones. Listening to people rushing past to rhythms all their own Life passing me by, not thinking how the years have flown Until I met you. I won't say that it was fate I won't say that it was destiny But if not, what could it be That drew you towards me? Could it be chance? Till the day that we meet again Where or when I wish I could say But believe know that you'll find me Promises to keep we won't ever need If only I'd never known. All the burdens I was born to bear Lived a life without a care in a world safe for you But that won't do Till the day that we meet again On our street, I want to believe. In the chance that we'll share a glance. Promises to keep we won't ever need Till the day that we meet again At our place, just let me believe. In the chance that you'll come. Take my hand, and never let me go! Take my hand and believe We can be together evermore! Walking city streets with worn cobblestones. Struggling against the crowds and finding ourselves all alone. Fate and destiny are no guarantee. Still, I hope some day you'll come and find me. Still, I know some day you'll come and find me.
You can hear part of her theme in the song background too 😭. I heard that in April they were releasing the album. I hope that’s true. I need this in my life.
“Still i hope someday you’ll come and find me”. this part broke my heart. “Still i know some day you’ll come and find me”. this part gives me hope. If Aerith will not be saved in part 3, i will protest in front of Square headquarter.
I hope so... But in the french version, at the end she says "farewell", and not "goodbye" (which for me make a difference). But at the beginning of the very last fight, Aerith say to Cloud: "I saw what you did, thank you", and Cloud respond: "thank me later". What does it means?! I'm SOOOOOOOO confused!!! Can't wait for Part 3 "FF7 Reunited"?
@@yakumojoly yes I know she needs to die. But just for the hundred of hours I tried to resurrect her when I was 16, I'd be sooo happy if they manage to make us save her 🤞🤞(sorry for my bad English)
Idc what anyone says, i hope cloud bringd aerith back to our reality and zack too n finally be with tifa n everyone gets a happy ending. Ill be cheering all the way. 😅
Le début de la chanson ( avec le piano ) fait fortement penser à Nier Automata - Weight Of The World… Au passage chanson sublime et OST du jeu exceptionnelle ! Quel travail de Square c’est TITANESQUE
It makes sense that this is a song to everyone that Aerith has ever loved: Elmyra, Ilfana, Zack, Tifa, Barret and Cloud. It's vague enough to tell she's not talking about one person. She met Elmyra on cobblestone floor. She had several memories with people on a street. It's a love song to her loved ones
City street worn cobblestones i don't think that is slum and mean elmyra i think chorus 1 "Till the day that we meet again Where or when? I wish I could say" it's mean everyone but On chorus 2 "Till the day that we meet again On our street, I want to believe In the chance that we'll share a glance" It's mean someone bc she knowing what place to reunite.
Why it's people so stubborn about Cloud x Aerith not being the main couple? Even when if they are not romantic involved their bond is deeper than any other bond they had before. Not to downplay zack or tifa, they are amazing, but clearly the game roots more for Cloud and Aerith
@@user-fl4ok4xr1fits because the developers are saying conflicting comments. One says its about cloud the other says its about everyone, but I think they only tried to say that because they didn't want to upset the cloti fans. They can be pretty aggressive. I heard the developers were getting threatened, but not sure that's true or not.
@@TheDelightfulFlowerLady the devs do this all the time especially when it comes to anything related to ships. they essentially give both sides what they want and then they strip it away by contradicting what they said or did lmao, they've been doing it for years... the thing is nojima never denied that the song had romantic elements, he just said it's not JUST a love song. it's also a song dedicated to everyone aerith loves and the song also talks about her burdens as a cetra etc. however, as always, people only take away what fits their narrative. for those who want it to be just a love song they'll use uematsu said and claim it's just a love song, for those who want it to not be a love song they'll use what nojima said in order to support their narrative that it's not a love song... but the thing is nojima literally said it's both: it's aerith's song that talks about her internal struggles, it's a song she dedicates to everyone AND it's also a love song. if you read the lyrics it's very clear that she is very obviously talking about the street where she met cloud and "our place" (referenced by cloud and aerith in rebirth). the japanese lyrics are actually a lot more direct than the english ones, in japanese it straight up says "rushed by the bustling sounds of people's footsteps, i met you on that street" hmm i wonder who she met on that street? surely not the main character of the game right? in conclusion: it's aerith's song that she dedicates to everyone she loves, that talks her burdens as a cetra and it's also a love song for cloud.
I love this song very much, and despite knowing the interview I can't help but feel this song is meant for Zack. It could also be for Cloud in the moment, but deep down she hopes it reaches Zack as well. And taking into account that Advent Children will be taken into account for the games as well, at some point Zack and Aerith do reunite. So even if the song is meant for Cloud in the moment, it may foreshadow the events of Zacks and Aerith's reunion as well.
The events of AC are still Canon even with Remake. The events that we've experienced in Rebirth are also predominantly the same as the original as well, just expanded on or slightly changed to match how the story is now being told.
Even if Zack and Aerith reunite somewhere, they are no longer a couple . Find a script for Advent children on the Internet. The moments where Aerith watches Cloud ride across the field are described in the story as: Aerith looks at Cloud, feeling lonely. Why is she lonely if she has already met Zack? Plus the key words of the song: We don't need promises. There are promises about Zack and Aerith, so she believes that her and Cloud don't need them. In the ending of the game, they don't make promises in Japanese, she just says she believes in him.
@user-df8lp9zq8s all fair interpretations, though the lonely one could easily be in a friendship sort of way. She misses him, and that could easily translate to loneliness, even with Zack there it can still feel lonely without him. Now to quote the songs "promises to keep, we won't ever need" which means that they are making promises, just that they don't need to. Which can be taken many ways. I believe in you is a promise in and of itself. Even if the words aren't spoken.
I was a bit bummed out as to why the crew flew off without Aerith at the end of Rebirth. I guess we’ll find out in Part 3. She said something about praying to save the planet so maybe she’ll venture back there by herself.
@@LodyPolskieNarodowe Cloud is still unstable at the end of Rebirth. He is even seeing the raptured skies whilst the rest of the crew don't. Who knows if that was truly Aerith? I mean, the sudden shift of tone when Cloud was revealed to be in possession of the Black Materia says it all. We cannot trust Cloud's point of view.
@@lorenzolyleabadia1669 He sees that rift in the sky because of the timeline he created. Eventually because of jenova cells. It has to be Aerith. If it was Jenova, then the entire talk would be pretty much usseles considering Cloud wants to go to the crater by himself. Cmoon it's obvious he saved her in another timeline. Just watch the scene when the party comes to Aerith's body. It's laying on her right. When Cloud comes everyone disappear, whispers are here, the rainbow glow appears and she's laying on her back. Then Cloud says "Aerith. Wake up." and she wakes up indeed. This pretty much confirms she's alive. I believe Cloud is stuck beetwen the OG/rebirth timeline and the one he created.
I love Aerith, she was my first fictional crush, and while I also love her woth Cloud, I don't want her to come back, Cloud ends with Tifa and Aerith reunites with Zack in the lifestream, that ending seems more poetic and romantic to me.
i beat final fantasy 7 remake rebirth and cloud sees aerith prey at the alter and sephiroth kill aerith cloud and his friends were sad and emotional that aerith die it was absolutely heartbreaking and i started feeling sad that sephiroth killed aerith in front of cloud and cloud told aerith that he and his friends are going to stop sephiroth once and for all
I mean I don't gain any profit for my videos, some parts of the song are also a little edited (though it's not really noticeable), but these videos are just for fun and entertainment. So I just hope I won't get any problems in the future. :< so far nothing really happened, I hope I won't have to take it down one day, but I will if I have to of course. (My Nintendo videos are also rather dangerous tbh) I tried to include copyright management in my description tho, but it of course could be more professional.
I only other time i ever cried to a video game was the original Final Fantasy VII and only at the one scene everyone knows about. In Rebirth i cried multiple times: When they show Jessie performing at the play When Aerith Sing this song When Zack reunites with Cloud When Aerith says goodbye to cloud in the church When aerith is praying And at the end cutscene You did good Square-Enix
yes In chorus1 maybe mean everyone but on "Till the day that we meet again On our street, I want to believe" It's really mean cloud(tifa, barret, zack, first met aerith not on street.). they always said cloud name first(it's so funny). PS. they never said it's was never meant to be that way( not for only someone) but they made it doesn't sound like to that way bc chorus1 and chorus3 canbe mean everyone but chorus2 it's can't be everyone
it’s about cloud. nojima seems to have backtracked but uematsu is standing strong on his stance. it’s a convoluted mess. in my opinion it’s clearly about cloud. she speaks to a singular entity throughout the song: “till i met *you.”* “what could it be the drew me towards *you.”* “know that *you’ll* find me.” “live a life safe for *you.*” “know that *you’ll* find me.”
Its already confirmed to be about Cloud by singer and composer . Plus "our street", "our place" Walking city streets until i met you. All of it literally cant be about Zack lol
I ever get married this will be one of my many wedding songs along with Melodies of life, Luna's Boat song(Lunar Silver Star Story Complete), Yume De Aru Youni(Tales of Destiny), Key to my Heart(Tales of Destiny 2), and many more.
