I am unwilling to waste $30K on a wedding, the stress, problematic family members. We are an older mature couple who sees no need to spend such money. We just want to get married, the 2 of us & a minister or Reverend.

Eloping is easier to plan, less stressful, and can save a lot of money. A down payment towards a house, is much more important, than a giant party.

We got married at the ups store due to Covid and it was just the two of us the notary and the people in line lol

My uncle and his wife did the same and I get it. My father doesn't deserve to be at my wedding anyway because he invited everyone close to him when he married someone new but not his own daughter. My mother won't approve that I marry another woman. My fiance can'tcome out to everyone in her family either. So, no regrets.
