Some of these comments leads me to people have no idea what and how an ac system functions in that small space. You did exactly what my ac tech did a few years ago. I will now be doing it myself in a few weeks. Nu Calgon is an excellent product. There is one to keep the drain line clear. Ever since I began using that product, haven't had a backup. A little costly but worth every penny. Oh, I live in Central Florida. The heat and humidity between May and November is unbelievable. Thanks for sharing.
The part you are cleaning is an evaporator coil. You said at beginning, you wouldnt want to remove condensor and bring it outside....The condensor IS outside
yes. I Apologize about that. I'm cleaning the coil in the AHU. The condenser is outside Correct. I'm a Master Electrician Not a A/C tech. Always Hire a pro. Was just sharing my experience and review. which is a excellent product.
I have always been about higher merv filters. EVERY hvac tech has told me to use the cheap ones because systems (especially older) are not designed for the airflow restriction and it's harder on the unit. They claim the cheap ones will give much better air flow and are fine if changed monthly. I love the idea of getting more crap out of the air and it's hard ti get myself to use the cheap ones.
If this has acid in it, shouldn't the wires be protected? And why are people saying this is okay to use on a split duct's inside unit, if acidic? And if you have this running, when wet, isn't it blowing all this chemical into the house, the same chem you have a mask on to protect from?
@@bluephaseplus3650 I also live in South Florida so I know how often and hard our HVAC units are run. I do the same as far as filter changes 1 month in the summer and maybe 2-3 in the winter. My coil gets very dirty too. It's not about changing the filter more often, these units just get ran hard down here. All you can do is stay on top of the cleaning every year or two. I even pull the blower on mine every two or three years.
@@TRADINGARMOR thanks for your input I just cleaned my coils again since last video. It looked better than the first time I went to clean it also cleaned the drain line it was pretty gummed up. I like the idea of removing the blower. Also my friend cleans vents. How often would you think to get ducts cleaned?
Note. This was a manufacturing home. I think when they were building it they were using it looked like some construction dust and insulation. Has not ever been like this since
The brushes can be found on Amazon that's where I purchased number look up .Air Conditioner Condenser Fin Comb, Fin Cleaning Brush Air Conditioner Fin Cleaner Refrigerator Coil Cleaning Whisk Brush Metal Fin Evaporator Radiator Repair Tool (2)
I service residential HVAC units, i was taught you're always better off removing the coil out from the air handler to properly clean it. Is that true? Is not removing the air handler coil sort of the easy way out?
I would say you are correct that is the best way to get the cleaning. I tried this because my Air Handler was not old my buddy is HVAC pro and wanted to charge me $350 so I did this and saved $300. So always recommend contacting a local pro!
Actually Not yet I still have it here in the office. I have been wanting to do it. When I do I will for sure post a video. There are ton of videos . Not sure if I'm going to install above or below the coils.
@@kimbuck-2 When a UV light is installed in an HVAC system, it enters through the air handler and moves throughout the system. When it reaches the cooling coils, it quickly destroys contaminants like mold and bacteria. This is much easier, and much more efficient,
@@kimbuck-2 Either way I don't see how you could damage the coils unless you were jamming the vaccum into the coil haha. But I do like having the brush head if I'm using the vaccum. Doesn't make much sense to not have it on.
Good point. I used a wet vac to suck up all the dirt and debris. Also whipped and sanitized before I reenergized the unit. Cheers. Been working great. Its about time to use this excellent product again.
Thanks for concern on mold. Should be done with caution. I believe what most of the dust was insulation from when they were building the home. Was very clean second time I went to clean.
