Drove them for years when i was youngster in New Zealand. 664/666/668, I prefered the sound of the old 2 stroke screaming away up and down the mountains. It was a rather unique sound, and one knew, when they were getting close to a logging site.
You know I am amazaed at these old machines and how universal they are. They can obviously skid a lot of wood, but they can break trail, clear land etc. Our best equipment purchase to date. Keep me posted or @ me when you complete a video segment on this.
@retrologging I did a brief generic intro to the skidder on my channel. I have the video of my day 1 logging experience done, I just need to do the back end stuff to post it. Mine is a 66 tree farmer with a 353 detroit. It takes a minute to figure out how to operate having never done it. My tractor I could fall asleep and dig a ditch or plow the driveway at the same time. This is very different, not exactly able to "text and drive"...lol everything is mechanical. The video I did was of the one small flat area of trees I have and I had to grab 2 standing dead trees. All future videos will be me humping up and down hills setting chokers to drag logs up, im getting too old for this stuff, being at 7,500' in thin air doesn't help anything....lol
