NO SOUND In Calls Fix Android 2019

Caller can't hear you or you can't hear caller!
This is a constant problem with a lot of Android devices and has spanned the Android versions from Marshmallow, Nougat, Oreo and now Pie.
There seems to be an issue where the Google Voice Assistant hooks into the microphone and when a call comes through the mic doesn't automatically switch to the Phone app.
An easy and quick fix is to disable the Google Voice Assistant from listening for your voice commands, and this will also hopefully stop Google listening in to your private conversations!
When the feature is disabled there should not be any hooks into the mic and subsystems so calls can be taken normally and callers should be able to hear you as you would expect.
So, go into your settings cog and look for Google settings and services..
In the Google settings scroll or swipe until you find search, assistant and voice.
Next choose voice.
Now select Voice match.
Disable access with voice match and lock screen personal results.
You can also disable while driving option.
For a full erase of the voice model you used click on delete voice model.
Now exit the settings and reboot your device and you should now be able to enjoy both incoming and outgoing calls.

Clear language and instructions, not speaking and/or advancing too fast, easy-to-understand graphics, and most importantly, I could fix my problem efficiently. I wished all "fix-it" tutorials were that good.

Callers cannot hear me. I am having a hard time receiving calls from interviews its making me crazy. Callers cannot hear me everytime. No matter how much they call or I shout. I had this same problem on my brand new "Unidigi Power 3". No sound from the speaker and the mike not working correctly. Done all the steps on "Andriod 10" OS, and Bingo phone now works correctly. Many Thanks again.

Thank you! I could have never figured that out by myself. Also, the amount of settings really have grown to crazy levels. I guess credit to Google and Apple that I pretty much don't visit actual setting screen at all on iOS and Android compared to just some 4 years ago.

it feels like in everyone's rush to have unique selling points that the advantages of standardisation have been thrown out. i just spent £200 on a huawei 2021 that is nothing like the 2019 model it replaced, nothing i need works because hauwei want to be their own google. but the ppint is standardisation really helps (like with mains plugs), every video i've watched trying to troubleshoot my sound problems shows a different layout for every phone, even within the same manufacturer, very, very frustrating - i've worked with computers since 1973 so i should be capable of fixing bugs.

Thank you. I have been having this problem for 2 months and couldn't find a solution. I have Xiaomi Mi6 having Android 9 with MIUI 10. Have rebooted and upgraded to MIUI11 but nothing changed. Seems this has solved the problem. Will try.

@@mikesunboxing the problem is occurred again. Bluetooth connects to devices but does not give sound. Sometimes works, sometimes not. Might be a Bluetooth device problem in phone. Can you advice an app to check the device?

This also works > settings > accessibility > hearing > make sure that "turn off all sounds" is off > and do not disturb is off > then check settings > sounds and notifications to be sure that do not disturb is off > in sounds check that your sound mode is not in vibrate or silent and that volume is on. This was found in Google search.

I do really need help about this annoying issue I'm dealing with • I have an Xperia L2 (Android 7.1.1, Nougat) • It loses its audio capacity very often. What do I mean with this? • Sometimes, I don't hear any kind of sound coming from the speakers. Even, calls are blocked • I cleaned the jack input • The receiver (Person), can't hear the WhatsApp audio on his mobile. The microphone didn't record, I guess • Even in safe mode, the issue persists If the audio is cut off randomly, probably I think, it's a software issue. The only method to temporary fix it, is to plug an earphone or alike. Please, this is driving me crazy!!!

I am using Huawei Honor 8X and the calls (mobile or whatsapp) have no sound UNLESS i turn on the "loud mode"/"driving mode" whatever you call it. Then it works :))))) Also works with headphones; I tried all the solutions, but nothing works. Any ideas?

thanks for all the helpful tips. When I'm making a phone call the person can hear me quite well however I cannot hear them it is very quiet and there is no way for me to turn the volume up so I can hear it do you know how to fix this? Have tried all of the options, even factory reset, but none of them worked. For my smartphone this "Ok Google" was disabled from the very beginning, had never activated before. Just made a factory reset, but the problem is still there. Any advice in this situation?

if it works after a reboot it is a misbehaving app that is grabbing the mic or audio and not releasing it when a call comes in or is started

Hi Mike, Appreciate all your tips. I've tried them all - No Joy! My issue is no sound of my voice when calling the other party. Late Model UMIDIGI F1 with Android Pie. Would any of your other Subscribers have the fix for the FI? Someone suggested on a Google Pixel that Google suggested they removed the phone app and reinstall, that worked for them. Not sure I know how to do that? You are correct, this is really annoying. Thank you, David.

This solution did not work for my Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium, which began to have microphone issues after it updated to Android Q (10). Callers were clear as a bell but they couldn't hear me. Turns out one particular app, which had microphone access, was causing the problem. Once I denied its microphone permission, uninstalled it and restarted, everything is fine again. For some odd reason, this was the only app causing the issue. Just a heads up for folks who might not benefit from Mike's otherwise, wonderful solution....check those microphone permissions with your apps.

What if voice match access is already off? Restart did t help. Uninstall and reinstall phone update didn't help. Pixel 3axl

You might be best returning the device and asking for a replacement, after a factory reset it should be perfect. If not it is most likely a hardware fault rather than something that can be fixed in software

Been an Android user for 10 years and only experienced this issue for the first time since a few weeks ago when I got a new phone and was wondering if the phone is the issue. Late to the game but I Look forward to testing this solution out! That said, "stupid" question - doing this does mean that you no longer can use the Google Assistant then, correct? 'Cause I use "hey Google" all the time. But willing to give it up if it's the only way?:)

it seems to be a permissions issue and anything that is using the mic can hold on to the mic when other apps need it. sometimes a choice of a different dialer app can be a good fix

max pro m2 android 10 working thank. I found 2 more way to make it work, don't need to disable it. 1) I just lock the screen and then mic working 2) just speak magic word "OK Google" or "Hey google" then mic work again.

It didn't work, but nice that there is atleast someone providing info on how phones work. My marshmallow phone always has the phone sound off and I have never used google assistant which is off. I have missed important calls. It's stressful and there is no info.

i find it weird that it used to work fine even when i had google voice on as well. Since perhaps 2 weeks or so its acting weird. Sometimes i hear the other person sometimes they hear me. Also quite weird that a google system is acting so weird right?

I checked that, was already switched off . So have no incoming call sound no alarm sound, have no idea how to fix that.

Hello. I have phone on Android 5.1 as this is the only stable version and all is working well apart from the microphone. When I receive a call the ringtone occurs and i can hear the other person but they can't hear me. I also tested the mic on google but nothing happened. However, I downloaded TestYourAndroid from Play store and the mic works so I know it's got to be a firmware issue. Also I can record voice by recording app If you can help me I would be most grateful. Note. this is android 5.1 lollipop so it doesn't have full permissions mode, I can access permissions for downloaded app but not for system app such as "phone" is.

In my phone I calling all members I can hear but when calling 2 specific numbers in other state they can hear my voice I can't when they calling me I can hear and they can hear what to do

not sure? is it using the same network or is it a virtual wifi network? sometimes that causes issues with VOIP

I'm sorry Huawei phones are horrible devices the problems with them are endless. If you have bought it recently seriously take it back there not fit for purpose. I know this isn't what you want to hear but it is the best option to save your sanity

Thank you brother. My problem is that I have Android 10 phone. I was able to find menu up to Voice Match but then I did not have the same options as you showed. My phone has been giving me trouble that during the call, my voice to the other side gets cut off. Can you please suggest what else I can do to fix the problem. Thanks..

try installing a new dialer program and that will reset the permissions for the mic and speaker etc, that should do it

it is probably the mic and speaker permissions. install another dialer app and reset the permissions and it should work again

Waseem Haider Does noise cancelling appear in the settings section? if not there is a strong possibility that the sound chip or mic are physically damaged, in this case it is best to take the phone to a repair shop or apple store for a hardware test and examination.

I have just bought a brand new Galaxy A20s three weeks ago and suddenly few days ago I can not hear people during calls on the earpiece unless i put them on the speaker but they can hear me very well. The loud speaker works fine and great, also the earphone/headphone works good as well. I have tried the solution on this video but no luck, I also did factory reset also that didnt solve the issue. Please help

i've yet to test this out as the ol phone is updating while i watch, but so far at least this has been clear and to the point, the number of useless videos i had to trawl through to get here, whew. not your fault but as always the button layout is different,so, on to the next. is there a way of testing if i can be heard on another device without having to phone people? thanks.

not really as the phone dailer app uses a specific set of instructions and permissions to work so to fully test you need to actually make a call in the app

Hello Sir, after watching lot of Unusual videos I got you.. you ssens very realistic.though, your steps didn't helped me to solve my problem.. Please help to get it out of these.. I an having one plus nord 2 my problem with the phone is while calling I am unable to listen the next one voice through earpiece.. so i have to put it on loudspeaker mode.. i am face a lot or trouble.. please please help me
