Good to thaw frozen stuff in the fridge also. Gives more coldness to the freezer, and a "buffer" if the power cuts. And as a added bonus (at least for me, as I do not need a lot of fridge space), you free up freezer space.
I think I can speak for most Americans that buying extra food and supplies is getting almost impossible - no matter how much we cut back on things that are not necessary. It’s all we can do to keep food on the table and keep the lights on due to this unforgivable and unrelenting inflation. We all need to get really creative to keep up prepping…
I made a monthly meal calendar when I was raising my son. Single mom here. Made a world of difference. Always had plenty of food in home. Knew what meal I was going to make all week. Saved money and time. You can switch things around according to how the day goes. Best thing I ever did. I was in college at the time, my son was 3 years. Always moving just busy, busy days back then. Great idea. God Bless.
I just saw your channel on my feed. I said, let me just check this channel out. When you were talking about breast milk and the person said it was gross to freeze, & you replied,” You are Gross”! I have never laughed so hard in my life !
I love how you helped yourself by adding a “ done” meal to each week. That will be a huge timesaver and if you are behind on anything or need an extra hour that week then that frees up some time. Even a bit of “ me time” if possible would be great. Love love love this!
As my husband and I get older and with only one teen left in house I have found that our eating, cooking and shopping habits have significantly changed. While I have high hopes for crockpot meals and such, it just doesn’t get eaten up. It becomes more difficult to cook for less people and your tastes change as well as dietary needs when getting older. I have freezers full of stuff I now have to sort through because I know that we just won’t get through it all. Weird how fast this changes when kids become adults and move out.
I am down to two but I learned to cook for a family. A freezer really comes in handy as I can cook once and put the rest away in smaller portions. Great for those days we are busy!!
I’m in a no spend right now. I need Achilles and a lumbar fusion. I’m trying to save as much money has I can and buying only the essentials. I have been prepping since 1999 so I am pretty well set.
@@MountainMommaLiving thank you! For as much has I hurt and how limited I am I know there are others that have it much worse than me. It’s kind of ironic. I raced last year to get raised beds in. I’ve been a hospital nurse for 28 years. We didn’t have the convenience of what is available today like the Hoover mats. It was just a matter of time for the back but the Achilles took me by surprise. I have 3 years to retirement. Im hoping and praying the surgeries work and I will be back to a decent level of activities.
Hi Tory👋👋👋 Great vid, you’ve got a very good stock of foods in your freezers, that’s wonderful, you inspired me to go thru my freezer bc I know there’s stuff that’s been in there for some time that may have to go🙁 I just haven’t been eating much, the past few months, I basically eat one meal a day and have a snack so there’s a lot of accumulation🤦🏻♀️ Anyhoo, TYFS, I appreciated seeing everything👍 Have a great week my friend♥️💫✨👼🏻✨💫♥️
Hey there Angela, I appreciate your kind words! I am sorry you haven’t been eating much, I definitely have been in that season before. Sending you thoughts of healing sweet friend ❤️

Loved this video! I found it very inspiring! Not only for my own no spend challenge but for the organizational aspect, meal planning, and your notebook layout. I have struggled with all of these. Thank you for posting and I am subscribing for more inspiration!
Great organizing. Don't worry about the air-conditioner kicking on, I barely hear it, sometimes not at all. Wow, very organized with a monthly meal plan, Cool! Thanks for the video. 👍
All mammals produce milk, including humans. Why is it that some folks are appalled by human breast milk feeding children, when that's it's whole purpose? 🤷🏻♀️ Gets to me every time..🤨
Yes I get ready winter every year scence 2012. Cause I can't be out in the cold at all. I buy up grains butter, whipping cream for my biscuits I switched too 2cup selfrise flour pinch of salt and 1 cup whipping cream best biscuits ever and strawberry shortcake I add 1/3 cup of sugar. And yes they can be frozen too.
I am amazed at the volume of items in the freezers! I live in SW England and we were in an area where we were often marooned by floods. When my son was 6 weeks old we were cut off for 9 days with a freak snowstorm. My emergency supply was simply a sack of potatoes, a good supply of flour, milk powder and tins of evaporated milk so that I could make milk rolls and milk puddings and a large size tub of butter/margarine (to have with milk rolls or make cakes/biscuits). We normally had a reasonable supply of tinned items and a small freezer with joints of meat, fish and veg because we did not live close to a store but with the above we could last for a long time when isolated.
I grew up in a town that flooded almost every year, such a bummer :/. I love stocking the basics too, so very helpful to have shelf stable items too ❤️
just a tip : if you put a folded paper towel in the bottom of the bread bags before freezing, when you defrost the paper towel absorbs the moisture. Also, I find using a column pad for inventory keeps me much more organized, I am a bit anal about prioritizing and organizing, but I am working on it ... I dont need everything to be in alphabetical order !!! Also in the column pad there is room for me to section it out and keep inventories of Food/ Toiletries/Medical Supplies/ Tools etc.
New to your channel. When you said I'm shelf stable breast milk...😂😂😂. And I can't hear the air conditioner so I wouldn't worry about it. Great channel!
I pirate those #10 cans of nacho cheese into pint jars works great, it is a water bath. Dont have room in the freezers for nacho cheese😅. Was thinking of freeze drying that nacho cheese but then they jacked the price up so not tried it as yet. Been cleaning and organizing the freezers too. Trying to make room for the meat I like to stock up on and shove a turkey in too. Turkey will not be available this coming Nov from what i am hearing through the grape vine, almost can count on that. Might be turkey but it will be very expensive. So many were culled hard to tell😮
I live in SC and the prices here are unreal. There is a tomato shortage due to the farmers crops not doing well so stock up on all tomato products, any type of grain as their crops did not yield well so canned corn here or frozen corn the price is getting higher by the day also stock up on all pasta as it is selling out quickly. I believe as we enter this new covid there will be serious lock downs and as I know you know about herbs which is amazing. I worked in the medical field for 30 years and before becoming a Life Flight Nurse we do rotations in all areas in the medical field. When covid hit the first time and most took the vaccine for that we are now entering a new upcoming vaccine and everyone in the medical field is mandated to take this vaccine and not one Nurse or Doctor I know is refusing to take this vaccine as each has a date to get the vaccine they will walk off their job. Now you may find a few hospitals who will not require their Doctors and Nurses to take this vaccine which are few and far between. I have a serious heart condition well several and I require a device in my chest connected to my heart . I am having my 3rd heart surgery in November. I have a daughter who has autism and is very smart but could not live on her own so I need to be here for her. I am truly blessed to have one of the top cardiologist and Cardiac surgeons on my team. I have been on a strict cardiac diet for 8 years now and it was basically how I ate before that. I have not eaten meat since I was 15 and I am 62 now but i got my protein eating other sources. I make a mean lentil soup. I will from time to time eat tuna. Sugar is the worst thing for your heart! We cut out all sugar and artificial sweetners and I did like a diet coke once a week as a treat but cut that out. I drink a lot of herbal tea's all natural not from the grocery store and they are have shortages. When Covid hit the first time the Doctors and nurses who worked the covid floor learned most of the patients who had taken the vaccine had the highest death rate compared to the patients who did not take the vaccine. Research now knows and it is kept under wrap will have the highest death rate when taken the vaccine. My Cardiologist has advised me not to take the vaccine as many would say different you are high risk with your heart issues. NO I will not be taking it nor my 2 children who are 34 and 40. Please keep stocking up as I believe we are going to be entering another depression my opinion as I see shortages in medication in hospitals and doctors offices. So Tory you are ahead of the game with knowing all about herbs. I am subscribed to your videos and love each and every one! You are truly a blessing taking the time to share your knowledge! Also these people on the Keto diet and the carnivore diet if they know they are the highest on the list for many health problems mostly heart related and all other organs including kidney damage. But to each his own. ♥
Not the breast milk😂😂😂 omg....people. great job going through the freezers. I need to do my freezer. Today was the pantry cleaning and some other cabinets. Set aside some things that I took down to the little community pantry box. Seems like im always going through something....lol.
I noticed that you store a lot of butter in your freezer... you might want to look into making ghee /clarified butter at home. Tastes great and is shelf stable in mason jars (that are not in direct sunlight). I buy grass-fed butter, a lb or two at a time until i have enough and then do up a big batch.
I’ve never tried a meal plan. I have a serious problem with domestication & cooking every night. I wish I could change that about myself. I think one of my biggest issues is that I don’t know how to cook a variety of things and here lately when I’ve tried something new it hasn’t turned out well. I also don’t like super invasive recipes at this point. Any recommendations on where/how to start?
Hey there, I totally get that. It has taken me a long time to cook for myself and my family but I do enjoy it now. I would suggest checking out my playlist titled “recipes,” I use minimal ingredients and they are all budget friendly ❤️
It may not be popular, but we saved tons of money by removing meat, reducing dairy, and reducing prepackaged snacks. Also, my electric bill went down about $50 a month simply by not running the (electric) oven. Between the costs of running it and then the AC having to run to keep cooling the house to offset the heat it causes in the kitchen, we literally saw it was counterproductive to saving to bake/use the oven in the months we run the AC. Also, after several long power outages and spoiling food, we only prep non-perishables and shop now twice a week, stocking minimally on anything that can spoil without refrigeration and only stocking on small items ( like cheese) that can be easily put in an ice cooler
I spit my coffee out, laughing my ass off. As for the freeze dryed breast milk, i can ask my step sister if it wouldn't be willing to give me a bag of hers to try in my freeze dryer, i was wondering it would work too. Ill let you know (hopefully she doesn't think i am a weirdo)
Shame in said anything it mother nature takiing care of your children. I'm 65 years old and I did the same thing in my day. You have prep cause it gets too be too much at times.
I am here 4 months later. I never heard about a lock down once. No depression either. Makes me wonder where their information came from. The source must have been really fear mongering. We have learned a ton about covid, and the variants have changed so much from the initial deadly strain of almost 4 years ago. Everyone knows how to stay apart, mask, vaccinate if they choose. They CAN IF THEY CHOOSE be mindful of others who could get ill rather easily and stay home when sick (which rest is best, everyone knows) no matter what bug they have. On the other hand, I have seen several iterations of "we're all going to starve" and they never happen. A year or 2 later they're still saying it. At least this was a reasonable video about using your food wisely, weather issues, etc. The real reason we had issues during covid is that people panic bought. If everyone bought at a normal rate or used up their pantries, it would never have been an issue. Wonder if those who bought hundreds of rolls of toilet paper ever used them all up. 😂
