Instead of “no buy”, which feels like a punishment, I have an index card that says “I have more than enough of” and then I list items like makeup, shoes, houseplants, etc. this keeps everything on the focus of abundance. I have more than enough of shoes, so why would I spend money on shoes? Nope, I don’t need to. I already have an abundance of shoes. This makes me think about all the shoes I already have, which is a lot. But the whole thing stays as a really positive mindset instead of telling yourself NO! CANT! DONT!
Although I’m only 17 years old (turning 18 next month) and I don’t really have any financial responsibilities, I’m not employed because im still in full time education, I really enjoyed this video. It’s very inspirational and it motivates me to responsibly manage my finances when the time comes.
I enjoyed your video , for me it was great to see someone of your generation doing exactly what I and my husband did, with enough savings to have peace of mind . 55 years ago , I too had a file with envelopes of cash in . All of your methods work . We have enjoyed life to the full yet am debt free . In retirement we own our own very comfortable home and no money worries . Keep up the good work you are doing inspiring others .
Thank you for the lovely mention :) They are such simple and beautiful trackers. I love how you have setup this system, simple but also very clear and accountable. 2022 is really the year for the no spends and no buys / low buys. I think we all need a bit more control after the last two years and it is always a good time to start getting back on track. Hope you, Dom and those cheeky cats are doing well :)
Hi Kay, I am also on a savings journey for my emergency fund and other savings goals. Thank you so much for this video. I would love to see more videos about budgeting and intentional spending in the future if you are able. Being intentional with money and purchases is so important. Thank you for the extra dose of inspiration! I really enjoyed this. 😁
New Subscriber here. I just found your channel and I am excited to be here supporting and cheering on your budgeting/challenges to save. I should do some of these with you.
These tips are an absolute life-saver, thank you so much for sharing. I've been trying to commit to a no-spend month for a while but found it difficult for it to stick, your ideas have really helped me to set my goals into motion :)
Another great video, thank you Kay. You look absolutely amazing, you can really see the weight loss (you always looked lovely though 😘) I've ordered your book and can't wait for it to arrive 🙂
Hi Kay I’m into these type of videos and love your channel.I read a saying on a no buy year video and it said this , use it up , wear it out, bin it or do without! I think it’s brilliant.I’m also doing a no buy year so I shall carry on watching your channel to help me, a great video Thankyou for sharing all this information, xxx❤️
Good evening , i live in south of France , i'm frugalist in order to be on retirement as soon as possible , here is a testimonial to start this year off right : in december 2022 , i will be 40 years old and have closed the reimbursement of my apartment purchased in january 2014 , thanks to my savings on transport-food-accomodation , 12 years money back earn ! After that , i will invest in real estates to receive additional income for my retirement , it makes me feel so good , i wish you the best for your fire 👍
Hi Kay, love your content, I bought a budget planner from Amazon, I’m not doing a no spend, but I’m writing down everything I’m paying out for, just to give me awareness and clarity of where my money disappears to every month. I love your book btw, it’s next to my bed and I’ve bought a book especially to use with your book. Love to you, Dom and those gorgeous furry boys of yours xx ❤️💞💕
I personally wouldn't buy your list Kay - I do think there are too many of these "Mrs Hinch" type Notepads on the market that are not necessary to buy when you can simply write your plan on paper / a plain notepad or use a Diary - for instance. I do think, however its good you are trying to encourage /guide people to look at their outgoings & actually help them be focus & be mindful of their spending & cutting down. I agree with your point on using cash too - its so much easier to budget when you can physically see what you have rather than use Credit or Debit Cards. Even if you stop buying a newspaper each day or a coffee out - it soon adds up! Its changing habits that is hard. The most annoying thing also for Savers in the UK is there are no decent Interest Rates. Enjoyed what you had to say ! - Thanks Kay x :)
Great video! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and creativity. I just finished that chapter in your book! Sending hugs & love to you sweet Kay 🥰❤️❌⭕️🙋🏻♀️
I deleted Amazon this month, went caffiene free last month and two months ago, I deleted social media. I am thinking about doing a no spend year for the next three months.
This was a great video full of excellent tips on budgeting. I regularly need to remind myself 'do I need to buy this?' and usually the answer is no! My downfall areas are buying coffee and lunch when out and about. Happy New Year! ✨
I have been trying this month to do a no spend month. So far I have had a couple of days where I spent money that was impulse buys / unplanned buys, but those days I have spent far less than I would have normally, so I am counting this first few days as a win. It may be more a low spend month rather than no spend.
I wanna try this, too! Maybe I should do this tracking method, as well and see how it goes :) lovely video, can't wait to see your results at the end of January! ♥️
Just paid off my 2nd credit card and paid off a deferred interest payment on another. I'm further than I was 2 months ago. Put the cards up..out of sight out of mind. Started my journey the beginning of December 2021. So far so good. My goal is to have another paid off by the end of February. I've been on a no spend since December 2021. No groceries (already stocked up..lol)...just pay bills. Hubby buys necessities...as needed. (I have feet pain I'm dealing with so hubby has to do the running) and pays cash. My "why I'm not spending"is...to be debt-free
I thought I was being sensible last year. But I was mistaken! This year one new rule only go into a coffee shop or meal out with friends ect. Not on my own! I've even calculated how many periods pads I need to buy this year :)
@@Livingthelifeyoulove your videos are a different level. So calming so inspiring and down to earth. I would appreciate if you had a bit of time out of your day if you could check out my RU-vid channel? xx
I buy the majority of my clothes for me and my family from charity shops, I travel all over to them. So many bargains. Can save a fortune. I also buy homeware bits, I don't find many decent shoes and would only buy them if they were hardly worn.
Would you ever consider making these or something similar into an actual planner? I’m desperate for a no spend/ house savings planner but everything i’m finding just has something missing😩
I told myself i am going to do this because i really dont need anything. Onky thing i will spend on is grocery. Next thing i bought 2 pairs of jeans on sale....😂 though i did need them. And bought the kids some summer clothes...😅 But so far i am doing great i normally go to tjmaxx or traget for usless stuff. Not so far Nothing 👏
I'm doing this too! I'm following the Frugal Woods #uberfrugalmonth plan. Have you read her blog? It's an amazing wealth of resources for frugal living and ideas. I'm so inspired to see other young women doing the same thing across the world and taking charge of their finances (I'm in Aus!). Hope it goes well!
The tracker sheets looks like great tools. Kind of doing similar but for life. Just want to only spend on what I need. Making sure what I buy is actually useful. I have already caught myself almost buying a tunic that I really would not wear much. Great video!
