Very nice review. Though there is one thing i want to point out in it, the game does actually feature a fast travel. However, it's rather vague. To access it, you have to feed Ellie the alligator approximately 3 to 4 times. Once you do that, you unlock fast travel. It's very vague and it is not a surprise you missed it. I personally feel it's a bit of an odd way to have you unlock it. Still, it exists.

This game was very entertaining, and whilst it isn't the perfect game, it is still a good lot of fun :D

DK WEST!!! He's our man oh He's the best. NGL i had trouble as well but what really caught me was the 2nd rap battle. the 3rd one was not as hard which thank god but also disappointed me since DK West provides a good challenge

Bought the game recently. Combat, especially with mayday, feels really clunky and slow for a rhythm game. The only thing that matches with the music is enemy movement and it's honestly really frustrating to play. Theres a project I'm following called Sword of Symphony and that game looks a lot more promising but it unfortunately won't be featuring rock music.

The respawn feature you mentioned, any idea if that's available on the Switch version? It would be immensely helpful but I haven't run into it

Solid review, I should mention there is a fast travel feature! If you feed the alligator in the basement 5 times, you unlock the elliecopter. The alligator will fly you around the city, which is incredibly helpful. I do disagree on one thing, it should also be said that while NSR is antagonistic, they aren't villainous or evil at all. They all have their own motives and reasons for doing what they do and most of which stem from what they believe is best for the city. A huge theme of the game are flaws in the music industry, and even our main characters play into that: aka people who tear down other musicians and music styles to get to the top. While Mayday and Zuke definitely have solid points and good reasoning, we see the whole game through their eyes and their biases. Its hard to stay completely on their side when the game eventually forces you to fight a 9 year old and her mother, almost murder a war vet, and deal with the fall out of a difficult break up. It starts to make you wonder if you are actually doing the right thing by destroying these people's livelyhoods and ways of expressing themselves. No Straight Roads cleverly paints itself as rock vs edm, only one winner, when in reality the message ends up being anything but that and is a love letter to both genres. It is an amazingly fun and colorful game that also has so much depth and symbolism to it, especially since all, and I mean all, of the characters are very flawed and continually try to do better. Please support it, it's a bit buggy but an amazing experience!

The game is awesome, but I don’t recommend the switch version too much as they water the graphics and the gameplay down by a noticeable amount.

If you defeat DK West 3rd round, you get fast travel.

Finally a good review not saying the game is only good for its art

There's actually a Fast travel mechanic If you feed the Ellie gator 5 times in your sewers hub, you will gain the ability to fast travel via telephone booths nearly everywhere Its pretty annoying without the fast travel and it makes travelling MUCH MUCH easier (although the only con is that you still need to find upgrades for you everytime tho. UNLESS you're pretty good with the game)
