the fact that the tas is only .1 ahead (presumably after a lot of bruteforcing and stuff) shows how basically impossible it would be to get one thats actually faster
Winterly TM has made a TAS that is .75 faster than RTA. Even a suboptimal uber would, in theory, be faster than the current WR. Getting the uber is another question.
@@sigvestein i didnt know that run existed but then again it uses a bounce on a structure that is far from rta viable so i feel like my point still stands, the kind of uber you would need to get for it to be faster is just too specific, i dont doubt itll happen eventually but not for a very long time
Well.. I feel like as humans, we are collectively wasting huge amounts of time on a lot of things. Taking time to do something you enjoy is of course necessary. That said, many people are chasing records which are just numbers on a leaderboard somewhere which by itself isn't useful for anything. Imagine if speedrunning didn't exist, and instead all this time was committed to something useful. Might have become a type 3 civilization by now. I just don't understand how people are able to waste 40 hours chasing something that doesn't mean shit. (Then again, everyone spends their leasure time in *some* way, hunting records is the leasure time for some. Can't really criticize it.) Couldn't you have learned something (indirectly) useful in that time? Aren't we, as humans, worth more than to hunt silly records?
