I mean ...that's kind of inaccurate and also extremely subjective. Pokémon is the Triple A equivalent and by the logic used by its community the devs have "killed" Pokémon But what's considered QOL is subjective So for example if you don't care about Vertical investment. The Spiral Abyss and Artifacts are irrelevant But a quick swap feature for gadgets is amazing If your a Teapot player the clipping glitch being made an official gimmick is amazing If your into TCG the new cards and and balances(like Katheryn needing 1 dice instead of 2) is a God send These are QOL that heavily impact how you play even the current feature added(in 4.2) to fight Weekly bosses without doing the quest is QOL The issue it seem is people neglecting to acknowledge these features and placing there own versions of the game as "Devs not listening" Hell Electro was doom posted for 2 years and now Geo and Physical are in the forefront again with Pyro and Cryo being less favored They even said that the swimming feature took 2 years to develop and they attempted to make under water combat work It's less "the devs don't care" and more there not transparent. Out of all the ideas for buffing Electro I've read no one thought of the current reactions we have and to be honest people's idea of End Game ...kind of suck Either taking from other games or a lazy treadmill of stats and damage. Because to a player 3 years feels like forever but to the Devs its just the standard dev time Like honestly does anyone actually want End Game to rely soley on Artifact farming. Do you want to tell people that in order to fully express themselves in Genshin they need a C2 Raiden That they should be forces to be a sweaty player in order to challenge themselves. Instead of taking there Jean and playing how they want It's the reality of making a game that caters to everyone to some capacity and its why there will neither be a Genshin Killer or even a competitor because No one has solved Open World Gacha not even Genshin and these new games are starting with no blue print Players are not devs just because they have an idea doesn't make it practical and I see a lot of new projects trying to placate certain people But these games will have there own issue and controversies and if people are playing with Genshin In mind they'll always be disappointed during the rough patch. It what happened to TOF and Blue Protocol can they grow and become better of course but they need time to make there own identity. And players need a killer/competitor now But ...its like getting a new partner but your still thinking about your ex

I never understood why people put so much emphasis on Genshin being a "gacha" game. Playing it for three years I don't see substantial difference from any online RPGs I played before which had "normal" cash shop. Yeah there's that lottery when getting characters and weapons but it can entirely be done using in-game resources unless you want too much from it. If anything, Genshin was one of cheaper games I have ever spent my money on playing because there's only so much to be spent on before your only remaining option is Genesis Crystals...
@GuacamoleInMyShoes
@GuacamoleInMyShoes 11 месяцев назад
plus for a gacha game, the gacha isn't shoved in your face like other games. The only time you'll see it in game is by opening the wishing screen, which you can do once each update just to get rid of the little ! icon but besides that it's not advertised at all, which I'm sure is really nice for f2p players

@@GuacamoleInMyShoes For sure, I don´t understand the hate and emphasis on Genshin´s gacha system when it´s full of great 4 star supports that you get for free and you get enough wishes to build a strong f2p account. I always liked to think of Genshin like The Witcher 3 with extra characters for more gameplay variety, but nothing like "must have to beat the game". i think it's because of the stigma that the term "gacha" carries. they get so stuck up on the prejudice of it having "predatory practices cuz gambling" without delving too much on the game,, which still has some truth to it - just not in the same level as other infamous games in the field.

When Genshin first released, it pretty much blew the gacha game market as this is the first gacha game to be a open world and recognized in the eyes of mainstream media and audience and later on, the highest grossing gacha game of all time combined from sales in mobile (which made the most), console and pc. Other gacha game dev tried to replicate it, but the numbers and reception are not the same as Genshin. Genshin has raised the bar high for gacha games that are high quality and extremely polished, not just some 2D game and PNG collector will there be a game that will rival it?

@@Golgo1412 Let's stop acting like Genshin is not peak storytelling because it absolutely is. Also seems like you can't tell the difference between storytelling and story. Why do people love soulsbourne style storytelling, if you even know what souls games are. It is a form of story telling that's only possible with video games, you learn about the world and characters through environmental story telling, through personally interacting with people and objects in the world to build context. Genshin takes this to the next level and crafts an extremely historically and culturally rich world that explores the philosophies and themes of human life and civilisation that mirrors our own. There's a reason why the official channel is full of videos about culture, food, music, landmarks and natural wonders of the world, it criticises and appreciates all aspects of humanity, religion, politics, art etc like no other game. Genshin is able to do this because it has the biggest budget in the gaming industry to make it happen, the greatest lore in all of gaming.

The level of polish and attention to detail in Genshin leaves all the competition behind. Far behind. You can clearly see the passion and heart they put into their games. This is a very rare thing to see these days. You'll mostly see it in indie games, not in such big titles. I feel like most of the big companies these days got everything backwards; they think money first, player enjoyment later. Mihoyo focuses on making an outstanding game first, and so the money comes naturally. Spending in mihoyo games doesn't feel bad, because you know they will never disappoint you. It's the Blizzard of our time. Let's hope they won't follow its footsteps too closely, though.

♦️ It's because the lore of Genshin is actually deeper compared to other similar games, like Mihoyoverse really think seriously in creating the story for its games. Like Honkai Impact (Kiana I'm so proud). Other similar games don't focus that thing, I mean the impact on the players from their game. Whenever I play Genshin, I completely forget everything around me and get completely immersed in the story, especially on climaxes on every country and some specific ones like Meropide (Childe on sea), Sumeru sad backstories along with many more. Like there's just already too much in Genshin. I know other upcoming games like it looks very cool but Mihoyoverse just creates legendary games. In itself, Genshin is already a masterpiece. Only the players and fandom themselves have their own preferences and opinions which make them think Genshin is a bad game. Those ones who say something will kill Genshin shouldn't just be a game with godly fighting animation. It's about what comes after the animations, after hours of fighting, what will you have left? is it the uninstall button? Genshin has built great lores in their characters and stories that they even have hidden stories in books (just like how I see in skyrim I love that). Their stories are not limited in the current storyline. It branches deeply.

And also it’s gameplay is simple,that’s one of the reason,a lot of games like tof’s combat system isn’t like genshin’s where their gameplay has multiple combos but genshin’s is just normal,charge,skill,ult and some open world talents that’s all,and their hair,outfits ,all model physics in the game,and it’s smoothness,is really good,unlike a-lot of games,it feels very natural. The only bad thing is their unthinkable amount of storage you need to play but it’s worth it. ESPECIALLY cus is free,is still gacha but they made it so that you can still have fun without spending any money Edit : I forgot to mention the unique elemental systems that genshin has 😅 it makes building team fun. The combat is simple to execute for any players too. But the amount of versatility in team combinations are absolutely ridiculous. I've never seen a game that is so versatile when it comes to how you build a team and how you fight using them. For example, I heard Wriothesley alone has 22 unique team combinations that can work together. The elemental reaction system has obviously existed in other games before, but I doubt any of them are as well executed as genshin's becuz there are just countless unique outcomes during combat that can happen depending on your playstyle.

I feel like one of the other reasons genshin got so popular is because they have a lot of male characters that were properly written and promoted. Genshin is probably one of the only gacha games that is not otome that I saw having a lot of female players. A lot of big fan-artists (mostly girls) that I've known throughout the years from other big fandoms started playing genshin at some point and started making free contents for the male characters in the game, and they have no interest in starting another gacha game simply because those gacha games barely have male characters. edit: it's also not a secret that female fans are usually more dedicated in making fan-contents in most fandoms like making fan arts, fan fictions, character analysis, lore analysis, fan-made animations, fan-made merchs, and more. literally free marketing for the game. i also read somewhere that in the development state one of the manager in genshin was also trying to attract girls because it was an untapped market in gacha-game sphere (that is not otome) and no one has ever tried to capitalize it and it seemed to work well for them. it's probably why they heavily promoted childe and zhongli back in 1.0

Why Genshin is so amazing: - Elemental reactions - Characters - Team building - Music is top-notch - Smooth polished combat animation - Great lore - Fantastic world/environment design Because Genshin has no viable competition, its devs have become complacent: - No real endgame - Artifact farming is atrocious - Players’ crucial requests are neglected - No artifact loadout until now - Resin issue - No optional skip buttons on quests scenes - Geo still the worst element (Navia is not going to save an entire element) - Crystallize still the worst reaction - Refusal to rerun certain 5* weapons - No access to past free 4* event weapons (i.e. Cinnabar Spindle) - Refusal to add 5* Geo character in Standard - No epitomized fate on rate-up 4*s - Itto noodle arms when Alhaitham’s and Wrio’s character models exist - Annoyingly long quests with unclear and overgeneralized directions or instructions - Refusal to buff old characters - New 4* characters usually suck - Creating new gadgets that suck - Anniversaries suck - There are many more - I don’t want Genshin to die. It’s an amazing game. But Genshin needs a viable competition to spark some fire underneath Genshin devs’ butts so they improve their game for the better.

Tbh, there are some that won't change due the fact that they need you to either keep playing or stop playing too much. Resin is pretty clear because it exists in different games (although faster charging). Artifact surprisingly is the end game. because it's the only thing that makes you keep playing. I do agree on making the 4* event weapon come back or the 5* weapon in weapon banner. I already have the 4* event, but surely the newer player can obtain it with harder requirements. The 5* limited weapon like Tighnari weapon obviously need to be in standard now. Artifact loadout is great too because well, too many characters, so few good artifacts.

Half the problems listed are, like, not actually problems. Buffing old characters? Why? Not everyone can or should be op. There always will be a worst character, a worst element, a worst reaction- so what? An endless cycle of buffing stuff forever? No real endgame- if the devs don’t want Genshin to be a game for hardcore players, why should they make it so? How is not having a 5 star geo character on standard a problem? It would be nice, aesthetically, but it’s not actually an issue How can you even compare Itto’s model not being buff enough for your taste to actual QOL problems like no artifact loadout? You weaken your entire argument by floading it with petty annoyances or preferences. Gagdets that suck? So what? Anniversaries suck? So what? Do the other games you play all give you free in game currency once a year? All I’m saying is I’ve never seen Resident Evil give me money on their anniversary. It’s no wonder people see Genshin fans as entitled. When people mix up “yeah this is actually a game issue” and “I don’t like it”, nothing gets achieved

Wrong mate. Genshin can't have viable competitors to spark improvement. First of all they already profiteering and amassed enough wealth, billions in value. So, the genshin developers themselves, want other competitors to kill genhsin so that they have solid reason to quit and close the project. So, right now other competitors taking their sweet times and try to make their own game into perfection so that when its time to release the game, it will be perfect. Also this is to weaken the genshin developer team so that they can't counter "attack" from other game. That's is why genshin anniversary gifts is sort of mediocre becaue they are withholding the factor until such situation exist such as viable competitors. But thats is all that left. The genshin developer are ready to quit the game and focus on the new project.

Players dont stop playing their games because there is a new, better game around, they stop when the game is not fun anymore. When the new content is lacking, when the updates stop coming, or break the game when they do, THAT is when players quit the game. I really hope they release it on Steam or something once they need to close the servers (which will need to happen someday, no matter how many years from now). The whole game stands on its own and isn't like an MMO where the gameplay is dead without a huge playerbase. I really wish people would just appreciate games for what they are. Genshin Impact isn't going to get killed and attempting to push another game as a "Genshin Killer" only really sets unrealistic expectations for games that can never live up to them. Even if Tower of Fantasy had been on the same level as Genshin in terms of production quality, it still wouldn't have killed Genshin. People are invested into the game, and unless you provide a really compelling reason to drop one and pick up the other, you're probably just looking at a situation where people play both or stick with the game they've already spent time, effort, and possibly money on. As far as Hoyoverse needing competition, competition is welcome, but they've come this far and have continued to invest heavily into the game and improve it. That's not necessary considering the level of competition. They don't need to put out half the content that they do external to the game, and yet they do it anyway. I have many, many gripes about the game, but I do legitimately believe that the team behind it genuinely cares about making it a better game. We wouldn't be talking about it as if it were this unicorn otherwise. Genshin is in an unshakeable place because they've continued to improve unprompted on a game that was pretty unreasonably good to begin with.

There will never be a Genshin killer for the same reasons there never has been a World of Warcraft killer. Countless games over the decades have been proclaimed as "the WoW killer", but none have ever succeeded. When games get this big, with millions of players per day, they just keep going. They have too much momentum, too much investment, too much content and too much money to ever die unless the devs deliberately pull the plug.

Genshin became that big because it's a free game that lets you play f2p with no stress to buy anything. as someone who played MANY gacha games before Genshin I can say that this game's approach to the gacha monetization is absurdly tame. it doesn't bother you with ads to "buy this package" or "buy that limited drop" every login or every few minutes. it is also a REAL FUCKING GAME, it's not a HARD game but it has real fun gameplay, unlike the ideal games such as Summoners War or Raid: Shadow Legends that makes auto-battle the most efficient way to play by a HUGE MARGINE causing the game to end up as a "gear management game" at most.

I think that what most games lack but Genshin have is a VIBRANT COLORS and no modernization. Two very simple components. Explaining: I never in my life played and even considered playing any RPG games before Genshin. Why? Because they all are way too dark and gloomy. I don't like it. I want to feel relaxed and Genshin gives you this feeling. And people don't understand how important this feeling is to all of humans on the planet. But do you know that people who live in areas where there is no sun for a half of year as a result people there have depression and need some vitamins and antidepressants to have some strength for working! Now look at world around us! It's gloomy only when it's raining, but most of the time it's vibrant and pleasant to eyes and it's just healthy for people to walk on streets and in parks when it's a nice weather. Then you can say: but there was vibrant games before Genshin! And here you have a second component: no modernization. The same way as people need vibrant world around them, they also need nature. It's just healthy. It positively for our psyche. Maybe some of you like modernization BUT even you can't stay forever in the world of technologies. And simple people like me will just ignore games when see some "futuristic technologies" in it. That's why I never played games before. I am a simple person, I need to feel relaxed. How can I feel relaxed in a world that is alien for me, where I don't understand a thing? While Genshin is more grounded to our world and all it has just built on real world's inspirations so it kinda feels like home or like you're a tourist in other country that's also a pleasant feeling. And as a conclusion: I think Genshin attracted many people like me who never played games before, nor gacha, nor RPG. Exactly because of these two things. Of course the gameplay is also nice and interesting and the story... Well, it has some ups and downs but it get's better for sure. There's a lot of interesting stuff but even if WW or any other game will have exactly the same things or something even better, they aren't attractive to me because of two simple things: they are gloomy and way too futuristic for me. So these games will be interesting for gamers. While Genshin will be interesting for gamers AND non-gamers too. That's why it has such a big audience.

...now that you mention it. Genshin has been the only one that's more chill with its atmosphere even with the lore behind it. heck, it's the only title by hoyoverse WITHOUT the dark undertones they usually have from their other titles. sure there's sad moments here and there but not to the point that you'd have to take a step back and take a breather. and the "no modernization" bit too. and the recent addition of Fontaine proved that, it's hinted at as this technologically advanced region with mechanisms and other things but when it came out it still had the fantasy vibe that doesn't have all the high tech stuff you'd see in science fiction and mostly blends in the scenery like it's a fairytale.

I agree with this. I try out games for fun but never stay long because most graphics are too dark and depressing for me, or the graphics aren’t that attractive. I’m also not fond with futuristic sci fi settings bc my work is related to technologies. I have so much of those things in my life. What I liked when I first played genshin was the landscape of Mondstadt. It felt nostalgic and evoked childhood memories, back when technology wasn’t dominating the world yet. I as an adult would mostly comment how I want to return to my childhood days and explore the mountains and genshin is the nearest I can get. It’ll be dangerous and so much restriction nowadays. The vivid sunsets, the beautiful mornings, the tranquil night, the gloomy rain paired with beautiful osts was like how I wanted in a pretty fantasy world. Also the gameplay terms isn’t that complicated. Most already know the usual elements and their reaction with one another. Fire+Water would vaporised, Water + Ice would freeze, plant plus fire would burn... At the same time it does not treat you too much like a kid bc one would learn about weapons and compatibility. It makes you feel you are learning to be a gamer. Next is I don’t have to compete with other players. As a busy person, I can only spend 2-3 hours max for games so I can just level up however I wanted. And their gacha doesn’t feel like they need you to spend immediately bc you’ll miss a lot like some other gacha games. You just need to farm which does not intimidate non-gamers or students who are reluctant to spend for games. I have f2p non-gamer friends who played genshin way before me, they don’t mind spending for the game now (coz they have nothing left to farm and just think of it as a financial support for their beloved game) Genshin has these tactics to make their players stay and become loyal that will make it harder to escape. This must be why there’s a lot of players even after 3 years.

No matter what until genshin stops updating and nears the end of its story it won't die, yes the amount of players that play the game will definitely rise and fall depending on the time of year and whatever region is coming out and how much the majority of the player base enjoy it and the events, but other than that no it won't die because there's always going to be an audience around for at least the next few years. People gravitate towards competitors because of like you said, people like to hate popular things and ALSO because genshin is not everyones cup of tea, the concept could appeal to you but the story, events and character design may not appeal to you, meanwhile something like tower of fantasy could be more up your alley BECAUSE you enjoy the aesthetic or character writing and dialogue a lot more than genshin and what it provides in terms of entertainment. I feel like people take either a very defensive take on this topic of no nothing can ever top my favourite game or a very upset and angry stance of genshin is trash and it WILL die which I don't understand because its not that black and white, its a game and at the end of the day games are subjective and what you love another person will utterly despise, its a very stupid topic

@@oyshikaadi9631 Plenty of ways to improve combat in the game. For example, even just a simple UI, adding a small indicator when a cool down is done on a character off field would do wonders. That's just the UI. Although genshin combat is already good, it will be dated one day. I won't get in combat too much because it's basically spread sheets of numbers but I'm sure there's room for improvement there to keep it fresh. As for mobility, I can think of plenty of ways. During 1.0 we had the stamina upgrade. Mobility in game didn't really get any updates after that. Such as the Fontaine dolphin jump that is exclusive to Fontaine units only which for me is a bad decision, that's like saying jump climbing should be exclusive to Liyue units or gliding should be exclusive to Mondstadt units only. It's very restrictive. Gadgets should be equipped intelligently kinda like the fishing line stabilizer, gadgets like red feather fan should always be automatically equipped and can be used during gliding. Mechanics like sorush shouldn't be exclusive to its specific area and should be treated as a reward you can take and use anywhere once you finish its world quests. Having sorush help you get on top quicker would be awesome. Making this an island content that is temporary isn't very rewarding. Physics and momentum is also a good addition, being able to slide on slopes such as desert or snow while conserving momentum on your way down to maintain a speed faster than normal sprint really feels good whenever a game implements these kinds of mobility. Getting a quest that teaches you the ability to wall run would be a fun addition too. As for mounts, vehicles, jetpacks or whatever that is game breaking, they can still add this in the game but can only be enabled in areas that you already 100%. That means there's an incentive in completing areas. I'd take any mobility. It would be fun to get around rather than forcing/incentivising us to fast travel because moving around is just too sluggish doesn't really give the beautiful land of Teyvat any justice.

Even the surprise events of Epic7 is better or the half anniversary of Arknights, or the worst comparison is the version reward of HSR. Damn bro 10 free pulls every new version in HSR ?? HSR take my money !

I don't know about Kurogame creating a 'Genshin Killer' but many company when Genshin Impact did not exist try to imitate Honkai Impact 3 Success but only Kurogame in my opinion that successfully made a well made game like Punishing Grey Raven, they Imitate and made the game play unique and honestly I hope Wuthering wave will become a well made game

The real question is though: Does Genshin NEED a killer? Why can't people enjoy multiple games of the same genre at once? Genshin can exist on its own, and other games can grow and improve as well

haha honestly I'm tired every time a new gacha game that looks promising enters the frame they're called "genshin killer" there doesn't need to be ONE single answer, we can enjoy more than one game, after all the more the better! and putting this pressure on a game that hasn't even gone out by calling it "genshin killer" is unfair though i do agree having a GOOD gacha game with different looks, different characters, different world will feel fresh. I do feel for the people who have burnt out and gotten tired of Genshin. so far i've been good at pacing myself and not forcing myself to play until i don't want to, taking things slow and having fun is the way to go. ...ok thats a lie i play every single day but hey if i dont feel like playing i just do the dailies and use up my resin and leave! that still counts!!

No kingdom lasts forever. People tastes change, evolve, and even if they don't, people grow up, play less, and you can't guarantee the new generation will have the same tastes as the preceding generation. World of Warcraft has been one of most successful games to ever exist, and people in this new generation don't really like MMORPGs at all. Also, management can change, and nothing kills a game faster than their own creators. Genshin will die, eventually, but it will not be killed by any game entitled "Genshin killer". I've never, ever seen a game that calls itself a "killer" of another game actually manage to fulfill their promise. They are, most of the time, low effort games trying to ride on that game sucess. Also, games can just copy a sucessful game and focus on a different market. I know a lot of friends who think Genshin is a very good game, but don't play it because they don't like the oversexualization of every character, the loli underage characters, the excessive anime style, or just don't want to be involved with the community that they find weird. A game with more adult characters, with a Breath of the Wild graphics, less "husbandos" and "waifus" would be a success with people that like open world aRPGs but don't like Genshin in special.

Just like you said it need competition to fix it! Those who do study and knows whats business is can understand this simple thing completion makes things better! Do you know the word Kizen? The company will continously try to make there game perfect but genshin doesn't have a competition just Imagine how far ahead Hoyoverse is weather waves, project mugen is just being realised! As someone who loves pgr’s combat system and some of the sickest boss fights I’ve got to experience through a gacha game, I’m hyped af for WuWa. Doesn’t mean I would consider it as a “genshin killer” cuz the atmosphere of these two games are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FFS. The only similarity between these two games is the open world aspect tbh, WuWa has a completely different and post apocalyptic/dystopian atmosphere for its world compared to genshin’s. Calling WuWa a “genshin killer” is complete bs considering all this. ALSO I FRIGGIN LOVE PGR SO FINGERS CROSSED WUWA IS JUST AS SICK IF NOT MORE 😆😆

As a genshin player, the main reason I want hard competition from another game is so MHY can start feeling the heat and stop getting away with doing the bare minimum every chance they get (anniversary anyone?) Players have their limits, and having a game that starts 1-uping Genshin while taking both current and potential new players away only then will MHY wake up and defend their castle, they won't be pleased to hear "why play Genshin when you could play X instead" become a popular take everywhere.

Not to mention the fact that their updating schedule is an insane every 6 weeks across three different major games, they constantly fix bugs and invest in QoL features all the time. Honestly, they could do far faaaar less than what they’re doing right now but they’re still at this neck-breaking pace of updates and characters and stories and events and music and lore etc. Anniversary is less so of Genshin doing the bare minimum and more so Genshin devs not caring about Anniversary in general. Expecting high rewards and then being disappointed when those expectations arent met is just a child throwing a tantrum at something insignificant which the bombings of other apps kind of prove. Even if a competitor came up, the amount of investment and work would need to be matched and thats very very unlikely.
@TrentMkw
@TrentMkw 11 месяцев назад
MHY is a big enough company to where the "neck breaking" 6 week updates are almost nothing to them. It's been shown they can even do 5 week cycles if they wanted to; they have a big team that prepares content in advance. A competitor doesn't need the same update cycle to pose a challenge. Genshin is a gacha at its core, so players have every right to want an actual celebration of the playerbase, because no matter how good the game is, the players are the ones keeping the game profitable, so yes, the anniversary rewards should reflect that. When CN started complaining during the 1st anniversary they had to give a little bit more. Now that it seems that most are fine with what we got, they will continue to give the same "bare minimum" until the uproar stars actually threatening the game's playerbase and income from said players. A competitor, even if it's nowhere as big a company as MHY, can produce the same result by getting players invested in their new game over Genshin.

I can understand the knee-jerk hate-popular-thing side, because if I hadn't got on the Genshin train very early, I'd probably hate it too. If something you aren't involved in is overwhelmingly popular, you're stuck hearing about it all the time, which might draw you into the fandom... but can just as easily make you double down on avoiding it and start hating it out of pure annoyance. But, realistically, the only thing that could kill Genshin now is Genshin itself. If the next region is an absolute disaster, or the ending is Game of Thrones level of bad writing, that could do it. Otherwise, it's going to continue dominating the gacha genre for the foreseeable future--at least until the end of the main story. None of its "killers" have made much of a dent, except the one made by the same company.

This just reminds me of the whole idea of a World of Warcraft Killer. It just simply will not happen. Even when there is massive community backlash and an exodus of players like with what happened in 9.1 for WoW, the game will simply not die unless the company in charge decides to just shut the servers off.

First of all, I have to say this. I didn't play ww as genshin killer. I experienced it as a pgr player. And i'm satisfied. Because genshin is not for me. If I liked genshin, ww might be a disappointment because its atmosphere is quite different compared to genshin. Lore is very important to me. Most players play pgr for combat, but I play pgr for the story. I must say ww has a different target audience. It is a more ideal game for players like me who like a more serious atmosphere. The lore is interesting and the characters are not good or bad. they're just trying to survive. Most of them have traumatic pasts, some of them are gray type characters. And most importantly, the gameplay is very different. I don't think players who like elemental reactions like in Genshin will have fun. That's why it's not right to call WW a killer. To say killer, the cores of the game must be similar.

i feel the profound lore/plot... and by extension comfort/fav characters are a key factor in the games popularity. the ability of mihoyo to craft so many varied, unique, and dynamic characters with multifaceted personalities (with a few exceptions... cough workaholic women trope) and character growth within the plot line is something i haven't seen a lot of other games accomplish. it just makes you want to root for certain characters, thus getting attached to them and wanting to follow where they go in the storyline. sometimes the desire to see how the story ends and enjoy my favorite characters being featured in events is the only thing that keeps me playing even as i'm completely burnt out.

I can see your point, in my case it's the exact oposite. I played in the beginning and the fact that you have characters from 1.0 that aren't part of the main story is baffling to me, they weren't even introduced or mentioned ! A lot of the characters aren't relevant to the main plot and you can know about them only in time gated events. The story is filled with so much useless back and forth quest it takes away my pleasure on discovering the story. And lastly, what's the point of having a bland main character and an annoying mascot with very little character development ? You have to put too much into this game for it to give something back to you and the waiting time between each part is too long.

While I agree Genshin won't die, I don't believe its success can't be recreated in some form. I don't think Genshin will hold the title of the top gacha game forever. Forever is a long, LONG time. Nothing holds the throne of anything forever. Also, why do you speak like that, an AI voice would be more tolerable than whatever your voice is. You took the deadpan delivery and dialed it up to 11, and it does not work.

A lot of Genshin-lover here in the comments, in the end it all depends on how the developers handle it. Honestly in a few years I don't see Genshin being as relevant as these last years, and I hope it is so, currently everything related to Genshin I can't describe with a better word than "plague", ignorant people who have never played a good game in their life and ignore the enormous amount of problems that the game itself has, justifying everything with they only argument: "It's a free-to-play game"

There are some types of gacha gamers who want a Genshin Killer: Haters: generally comprised of Honkai Impact fans with their interplay of inferiority/superiority complex (something Star Rail also inherited to an extent) and Arknights/Path to Nowhere/Limbus Company fans as they're a bunch of smug elitists who think their games are 'not like other games'. Blue Archive fans are stating to join category 2, when back when before it became popular - it was closer to the FGO / Azur Lane fanbase where they were just a bunch of degenerates who kept to themselves and just love their game. Then we have the wildly insecure Tower of Fantasy fans, who in their bravado decided to market themselves as a Genshin killer only to step on a rake, then slip into banana and get their nose broken after crashing onto a pavement. "Well-meaning players who want Genshin to do better": these people are the type to think that Genshin are resting on their laurels and coasting off their success (which I can agree on SOME aspects but not all), they are the ones who want to see Genshin for what THEY want it to be, projecting their imaginations of a perfect game (lol, predatory monetization immediately eliminates Genshin from that), some want Genshin to be more generous in pulling currency - we're just going to have to wait until a game that has the level of Genshin's production value in terms of gameplay depth, storytelling, and audio visuals come along ---- and ACTUALLY SUCCEED, Good Luck Wuthering Waves, PGR could barely win against their main competitor in HI3, and there is a possibility that Blue Protocol becomes dead on arrival! Project Mugen has SO MUCH miHoYo in it that it kinda feels like they're trying emulate it. Help us Endfield, you're the Promised Savior.

There is no Genshin Killer except maybe itself but I do wonder if it will have the Marvel avengers endgame effect once the game actually finishes its main story. Disney's Marvel MCU movies used to be seen as too big to fail but looking at its current state now says otherwise. Part of why thats the case (besides disney corporate pandering lol) is because Endgame was.. Well the endgame. It was the finale that the movies were building on and there was really no need to continue a complete story but they did anyway

Yeah, In terms or regions, ww isn't gonna be as big as genshin. But that can be seen as a blessing as well as a curse, since lower storage means that more people on mobile can play the game. There's no denial that genshin has lost some of it's players on mobile due to storage reasons, so ww seems like it'll be fresh alternative for them. And considering that ww is a newer game, that means they'll have access to more optimization tools, which genshin didin't have during it's initial development.

Agreed through and through. Genshin is a great game for several reasons and it will always be. It's just that Genshin could be so much more but the devs decide to only milk from it for other projects. It's such a waste. Maybe when there's more competition, they would have to come up with different ways to improve, but then it could also be too late of a change that has already lost them the right timing.

I really love the insights of this video, I used to be those people who wants a "Genshin Killer" back then (and technically still now but idc anymore) because i played the game for a Year Straight and loved the hell out of it, until i see the flaws of the game and how the Devs Treat the Player and how Anniversary was gave me a whole reality check of where this game is just not Improving at all... and after playing PGR didnt help at all during the time, as i was very much into Hack n' Slash with smooth Switch Transitions and great Animations.... Like tbh, i still like Genshin for its Characters, Designs, World, and OST which are the Highlights of the game and i will not lie... its the best thing about the game. The gameplay and System like Elemental Reaction is very new and in-depth atleast but its a Slog the more u play it, especially Artifact grinding! and the gacha was getting annoying to me, i just really hate how when Genshin came out... that whole 50/50 system on banners is so BS, AND THERE WHOLE WEAPON BANNER IS GODDAMN HORRIBLE! like , if u fail twice, you have to roll another 90 for it.... But yes, like in PGR, (in this case) 5* Weapons are not needed since u can go F2P... Its a matter of spending money or anything that i look into gacha games, which is why i play Arknights and Punishing Gray Raven with thier generous gacha system on making people happy for getting the character atleast In general, i just want Wuthering Waves to atleast scratch a part of what Genshin needs, even though Star Rail Exist for the purpose (but its a different game)... i just really hope they can strive to be successful, it doesnt need to be like how Genshin began... just stable enough to keep challenging each other Content-Wise. But TBF, im not going to go back to Genshin anyways because im already Obsessed with PGR Gameplay and needing more games like it... Because Fast Action Gameplay with Cool Boss Battles that also includes Parrying are really COOL! If Genshin had Attack Switch Transitiions, i would be stoked on that type of stuff because it makes combat alot more free-flowing, but it'll change it to more of a Hack n' Slash than RPG type game (If u know what i mean that is)
