Review of the 4K disc release for the 2021 James Bond spectacular No Time To Die - Daniel Craig's last outing in the title role. Shot in a combination of 15/70mm IMAX, Super Panavision 65mm and anamorphic 35mm this film has naturally transferred extremely well to 4K Blu-ray disc. Picture aspect ratio is the standard Panavision 'Scope frame (approx. 2.40:1) so expect there to be some evident cropping occasionally owing to how it was shot because genuine IMAX is 1.43:1 and 65mm is 2.20:1 but this film did not get a film print release and was just video projected everywhere upon general release owing to all the delays and costs incurred owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. Sound is Dolby Atmos.

Finally someone who recognises Tim Dalton as Bond - he was closest to bond in the books and the living daylights is a great movie - if he had a early Connery script I think he would’ve been the definitive incarnation

THANK YOU John for your comments on "Skyfall", a film I have always been underwhelmed with (much to my shame). Glad to know I'm not the only one. I'll give "No Time to Die" another go (I actually have no problem with the ending), but it's a 007 entry I still have many problems with. Thanks for a brilliant review!. Michael - South Africa.

I was blown away by this disc. The film was great and I really enjoyed the characters. I thought the CIA agent played by Ana de Armas in Cuba was a lot of fun. It’s always exciting day when one of your reviews pop up.

Great review as always! I watched the Blu Ray in my home theater and was blown away by the sound and picture. And I'm glad Timothy Dalton got some recognition, as I feel he's a criminally underrated Bond with two solid outings.

Always great to hear your perspective! I'll try to rewatch this one someday with an open mind. Thought it was undeniably gorgeous to watch though. Cinema is looking fantastic already.

Great to see you back in the chair John. I enjoyed No Time To Die, although some of it didn’t quite feel as ‘Bondish’ as the previous Daniel Craig movies. I really enjoyed Quantum of Solace, which for some reason gets a lot of criticism. It’ll be fascinating to see how they reboot the franchise in the next couple of years.

I think the Dolby Vision is excellent on this release, especially with the scenes with the DB5 and it was a better picture that at the Cinema (Vue in Southport on one of the smaller screens).

Craigs Bonds are so well photographed. Interesting take on 007. Dalton was incredible.

Great review John 👌 I'm still a bit conflicted about the ending but there was some great action set pieces. Glad you're a fan of Dalton, he's my favourite alongside Connery. Pity we didn't get more films from him but at least the two he did are classics in my eyes.

Good to see u back in the reviewing saddle again John 👍 Enjoyed your review. Like u i also enjoyed the ending and It’s a brilliant 4k disc. The highlight for me being the opening sequence in the DB5. The imax shots with DV and the atmos when the rounds are pinging off the windows in the courtyard is just demo through and through. Also nice to hear some love getting thrown Timothy Dalton’s way 👍Very under appreciated as bond. IMO he basically did what Craig did 20 years earlier but audiences just weren’t ready for it!

Thanks for your great review I will get the Blu-ray version since I don’t own a 4K Blu-ray player, but my Sony Blu-ray player is pretty good at scaling up the Blu-ray to near 4K & HDR contents .

Watched the 4K the other night and was impressed by the picture and sound quality. I got great separation through my 7.1.4 set up. The Atmos was decent with the missiles at the end going right overhead 👍 . Watched this at the cinema and came away with mixed thoughts but on a second rewatch and viewing it as a 5 film story arc it works well. Love the documentary Being Bond exclusive to the 4K disc great send off to a fantastic Bond 👍.

Fantastic review John, I've just subbed after Keith from Euphoria Pictures recommended your channel. I was mixed at first but after second viewings I enjoyed it a lot, some brilliant action, great moments and plenty of references to On Her Majesty's Secret Service one of my favourite Bonds. I have the Blu-ray and it looks great, but I can imagine the 4K looks incredible.
