My theory about the smoke muzan had when walking in the ubuyashiki mansion is that its smoke produced from him burning out to the wisteria tree protection the ubuyashiki state has , but since he's simply beyond your usual demon he just walks thru it like its nothing , thats why the smoke stops once hes out of the range of the wisteria
Another theory is that this is a ambush. The master knew Muzan had infiltrated and was coming soon so they led the eye straight to the master place and removed all the wisteria from the area.
The smoke/mist around Muzan is actually like a wisteria barrier. So the moment he went through those doors he was just tanking it or totally immune to it. Any ordinary demon would have just melted the moment they went into that place.
19:53 For me as non manga reader the walk is actually felt necessary. First, the way they did that was cool but I feel terrified at the same time. Second, the walk is not just a walk, it was very poetic almost like LoTR Rohan's army crest the hill 5 minutes scene only this time it was the villain arriving. It marked a very important point of what they called final lift or sudden rise in writing before catastrophe or climax, basically saying 'yes, this is real. It's really happening'.
I feel like a slow walk helps to establish and build up a couple of things. It shows the different positions that both Muzan and Kagaya are in. Muzan has all the time in the world, so he doesn't need to rush; he can just take his time, unlike Kagaya, who is dying and doesn't even know how much time he has left. Which already can be psychologically draining. In this situation, Muzan is the one who dictates everything. This already builds up the tension/atmosphere and highlights the difference in their character dynamics, and the power dynamic in this meeting. It also shows how confident Muzan is, that he doesn't care that he gives more time for the Hashiras to arrive. You can think of it as "status manipulation". An example of this would be your interviewer making you sit on an uncomfortable chair, as opposed to the better one he sits on. It's a psychological manipulation reminding you that the other person is in the position of power, not you. It's a great way to establish the positions they are in for the conversation between the two leaders of the opposing forces and to see if Kagaya will be able to change this dynamic.
Have you guys noticed how Tanjiro’s scar has not turned back to its normal scar look but now it’s there permanently? I’m not sure if that stays that way though, but it’s one thing I think people missed. I will get ready because the next season is gonna be one hell of a trilogy.
muzan is currently not only strongest being in that world but also he is stronger than whole slayer corps and hashiras .So expect heavy bloodshed in the future.
I disagree with what you (Nico) said about the extra time they spent on the Muzan walk. It was very cinematic, dramatic, and built up tension on the impact of this moment. I think this is the difference between an anime-only viewer and someone who has read the manga. Maybe because you knew this was going to happen, the time spent on him walking wasn’t important for you, but for me, it was like, “omg, what’s he doing here? Where are the Hashira? Is he alone? Someone ring the alarm,” etc. It gave me time to think about all the implications and raw danger of his presence. TBH, if you’re talking about pacing, I wish they had shortened this entire arc… I’m really not into training arcs… I like the plot moving forward.
Isn't the point of anime adaptation of a manga is that it doesn't HAVE to be as quick as the Manga it's based on as long as it's faithful to the core of the Manga? Yes there are things that the Manga CAN do better than the Anime version(for example Animes are unlikely to explain narration moments when extra details are presented ands its possible some things will be cut from the Manga in the anime) But there's also things the anime does that is superior to the Manga which the biggest source is looking SO MUCH more visually pleasing and have more life to them.
One of them has read the manga that being the guy and I do completely disagree on the guys take on the muzan part since the anime is not trying to cater to manga readers but is converting the manga into a cinematic piece for first time viewers to enjoy the story through the more slower pace that an anime will have. Honestly prefer the slower pace of the anime here because it builds up the tension to the important moment, that being muzans interaction with kagaya. Of course I do understand that if you know whats going to happen you may impatiently be waiting for bigger moments or would hope for more substantial substance but honestly here the extra time for muzan is actually beneficial because of how big this moment is story wise.
