I am working on the first Hunter Star. I have everything cut out and it seems to be becoming together easily. The last technique looks easy too. Thanks for showing 3 different techniques for making the hunter star. It is one of my favorite stars.

Oh wow! I'm sitting here reading how to do this in my mag ANPT. Went along fine till I got to the instruction w "sew to wi a 1/4" here and then a 1/4" there . . ." I thought how can I do that when I haven't mastered the perfect snowball yet? Then I thought, maybe youtube? Thanks a mil! Love you for this. Certainly easy to follow and success is most likely. A thousand hugs to you.😙🤗☮❤🙋

I'm a new quilter and always had trouble with my points matching, your video is the answer to my Problem (question). Now I see that I need to move my ruler over 1/4 in. when marking while cutting to make points. I'v watched numerous videos and never seen it as easily shown as your video. Thank you for furthering my learning skills as a beginner that was very frustrated and has wasted numerous pieces of material in the past. I look forward to following you on you tube and seeing more of your videos. Sandy Swank Eddington on face book, can we be friends so that I don't miss any of your knowledgeable helpful hints?

Oh my goodness, I've een looking for a larger, 8 point star, no y seams and the star pieces all in one piece, not half square triangles. Impossible I thought, after much searching. And there you were, telling me how to do it. I was about to write to ask what size this was and how to make it an 18" or around there size. And it is 18"!!!! Thanks so much!

Hello i have 2 questions: 1) In minute 2.12 how do you place the fabrics? and 2) after Sew on first line & 1/4 inch from second line, in minute 2:35 where it comes from? we have to draw a line again, i mean we have to do exactly we just had do it again?

Gloria I put all four together to make another block. You can mix the two blocks together or use it as another quilt.

Hi Melissa. Fantastic tutorial!!! I made a perfect star! I would love to make it smaller but have no idea how to do the math to make the pieces smaller. I tried to reduce it by an inch on all the measurements expecting it not to work....and it didn't. Do you have measurements that would make it a 12" finished block? Help!
@klmueller8575
@klmueller8575 5 лет назад
McCall's has a video done by Erin Russek. It matches the design in one of their magazines from 2016, autumn I think. It should be an easy RU-vid search.
@Ronibearable
@Ronibearable 5 лет назад
So to make blocks half the size, you need cuts of 2x4 3/8, 2 inch squares and 2 3/4 by 4 3/8

Can this star pattern be enlarged to perhaps make a medallion in center of king bed?

so this will 18.5 by itself, and then 18" when I set it into a quilt?

I couldn't work out what she did in the middle of the tutorial at around 2:35 - I couldn't work out which way round she puts the two squares together before cutting across the middle. What I ended up with didn't work, so I obviously did it wrong, even after watching that bit of the tutorial dozens of times. Very frustrating.

I had exactly the same problem. I followed the video exactly (it was right in front of me while I was doing it) and just ended up with all triangles once I made the cut.

The part where you draw the two lines and then say to sew the first line (which is corner to corner) and 1/4" from the second line confused me. Can you explain that for a dummy, please? ; ) (around 2:20 in the video)
@gracebrtkrz5308
@gracebrtkrz5308 6 лет назад
To clarify: The second line is used as a guide-sew 1/4" to the right of that line and cut on second line. You can use the cut off section for your border piecing if you wish. Hope that helps!
