There is a spot between south America and Africa. Very weak. The things floating around up there like satellites could be there and loose malfunctions. The poles have been slowly moving as well. At solar maximum there are many solar storms. But the effect on society is microscopic. This is the strongest storm since 2003, and nothing is broken. My HF radio is more or less dead today, but that is perfectly normal after a strong Kp9 disturbance.

This event may consist of multiple strikes that beat down the shield before it can recover. The Earth's magnetosphere is undergoing a polarity switch thus lowering its strength. Also, everything now relies on a much higher level of technology.
