So you bought an implant kit or are thinking of buying one soon. Good for you!
If you're anything like I was when I first bought my kit, you might be confused and maybe overwhelmed by the number of parts and pieces that come in the kit.
In this video, I will explain each piece that comes in the Nobel Biocare Dental Implant Surgical Kit.
The basic kit includes:
- Implant drivers: for a 3.0, NP, and a RP implant
- Osteotomy drills labeled 1-7
- drill extention
- direction indicators
- drill taps
- torque wrench
- depth probe
- unigrip driver
I will explain how all of these parts are used during dental implant surgery.
I hope this video is useful for you! As always, feel free to leave a comment if you have a question. If you liked this video, Give me a thumbs up!

Very Nice Job. When I had my implants done (Nobel Biocare, 7 on top, and 5 on bottom), I was so fascinated by the tools that my dentist used that he took the time to do a quick explanation of the whole set, and your video was a bit more in depth, VERY COOL.

+dt thewolf hmm, I'll consider that. I might start using Snapchat. I've been a little hesitant because of patient comfort. I don't want them to feel like i am broadcasting everything and make them uncomfortable. I'll think about it! Thanks for the comments dt thewolf!

Hi Ivan, I am looking into understanding more of the implant world. I have assisted in a couple of implant procedures but wanting to understand from ordering the implant parts to placing the implant. Can you lead me in the right direction? This video was great!!

Sure thing Taylors! Ask any questions you want, I'll be happy to provide some insight. I understand the buying process can be overwhelming. Deciding what implant system to use can be a big decision! what can I help with? Also, where do you practice?

The first thing that I would recommend is to gain some familiarity with the general procedures. Check out this link and observe how the procedures are done: implantninja.com/dental_implant_video_library/ Also, a good dental implant book would be a wonderful reference for you. A good, comprehensive guide is Contemporary Implant Dentistry by Carl Misch. It is a big book, but you can skip around to understand the different procedures and concepts you come across. Then, it would be great to assist a few different docs with their implant procedures. See what implant system they use and what their protocol as far as surgical room set up, antibiotic regimen, anesthesia, case management. This will help you to see what you are most comfortable with. After this, you should seek hands-on training. This can be a little expensive and, depending on the course, may be a little disappointing. Many classes only offer training with laboratory models. After placing one implant in a lab model, you will get the general idea. It would be very valuable to gain live-patient surgical experience supervised by a dentist with significant experience in dental implantology. You may find yourself paying anywhere from $3k to $20k for live-patient training depending on the length and quality of the programs. (For dentists with a California dental license, I can arrange 1-2 days at my office where I can give hands-on instruction. ) After this, you will have a much better idea of what implant systems you like and you will have some friends to continue to guide you along the way. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions you have :)
