The entry snippet made me smile. I hadn’t heard that for a while! ‘The Flintstones’ was a classic show. Ten toes to make their motor go! The Noble moved upon a dolly. Whilst the rest of this film was less jolly! The 80’s funk of Shakatan. Another memory for this man. We found poor Ricky, (who looked cream crackered), amongst a chassis which looked knackered! As bolts were beaten from their thread. I look in awe and scratch my head. What next, will this car show to us? If it were mine, I’d surely cuss! I’m confident that it will sort. Please Ricky push on, don’t abort. The effort that you have applied. Whilst others would have simply cried. You have the skills - and some spare time. I’m glad this Noble isn’t mine. Some Cosworth pistons in a block. Is much improved from what is stock. This gift keeps giving, that is true. But what we’re learning watching you. The cam lift and the valves guide issues. I’m welling up, oh where my tissues. The valve seats that are pretty manky. I dab more tears with a wet hankie. Valve collets that are triple groove, A smack with mallet made them move. Inspection of the closest kind. More issues you are sure to find. But undeterred, perhaps with dread. You look more closely at the head. High pressure water in a tank The Aquablast cleaned off the mank! It raised a smile upon your face. And left you in a happy place! I hope subscriptions now increase. And progress comes to give you peace. The Noble quest is proving tricky. But never give up- crack on Ricky. RE Performance - work your magic. Upon this car - that’s frankly tragic. Some elbow grease and fairy dust. Will change this steaming pile of rust! From what it is into a gem. RE Performance supermen! I think the content is just great. I’d better mention your wife Kate. Her patience is above sky high. For putting up with such a guy. The Noble quest - the worst car yet? On balance we agree, you bet! 🥹🫣🙄😩🤪😳😉😉👏👏
@@REPerformanceUK love the channel and I keep coming back to this Noble series. It’s like a scab you can’t stop picking!! 🤪🤣😉 (Also chuffed to see Karl in other uploads back at the coal face!) 👍👍👍
Had a "ah of course that's it" moment. I have heard the phrase high lift cams for a mod for most of my life. And I now have a visual representation of it now.
The fuel injection is on the one port because that intake runner is always open whereas the other side only opens up at a certain rpm. I don't think a fabricator would have a problem with creating a new section of tubing by cutting out the old and using it to make a new section. I would imagine the reduced metal would compromise the torsional rigidity of the car a bit.
Add temporary bracing bars to prevent dimensional change, cut out rusty sections and weld in new stuff it is not a big job and won't take long. At the same time add stiffener plates if you want to make the thing stiffer, remove temporary bracing and job done.
So many questions, mainly about the engine but I'll save em. Really impressed by your knowledge again! Really glad to see the noble moving forward, well so to speak, lol
I would be tempted to have the chassis painted rather than powder coated as powder coating doesn’t like sharp edges and one crack and the water is in causing the sort of mayhem you’ve just discovered.
I’ve watched a few guys working on cars in videos and without doubt you are one of the best ones around. The way you talk about what’s going on including issues etc while also joking around is quite great and why I look forward to your videos. Keep up the great work
Loving these vids, keep them coming. I don’t envy you taking on this project though, I guess it’s a case of pushing on until you reach the tipping point of where bad starts to become good…whenever that may be 😊. Thanks for videoing it.
Your friendly, engineer surveyor, ie the guy who looks at your ramps for the LOLER inspections, should have one when he does your compressors air receiver. So if he due in, ask him.
Look at the upgrades on that noble, it’s bloody fast, must be the lightweight version…❤ if you upgrade the trainers/runners as well it could be even quicker in the corners..😂😂😂
Having restored a TVR t350C I feel your pain with rusty chassis! Fix, Galv, Powdercoat, gold tape / DEI floor and tunnel heat shield the areas subject to high radiant heat. If you want an icnonic, british built engine to play with, have you considered a TVR S6 ?
Not sure how you could get accurate measurements from the valve gear when it's got hydraulic tappets. Surely with no oil pressure the tappets would move, or they would be so loose the valve wouldn't get maximum lift?
'This is the worst car I've ever bought' pretty much what I said the last time it was featured in your vids. At the time, you replied ..... 'it's a nice car! 😂 I have faith in you, you WILL make a silk purse out of it.
On your digital vernier calipers can re-zero them to measure the lift rather than subtract? By measuring base circle, reset to zero then measure lift? Only down side have to remember recalibrate true zero after
Really interested in what you are going to do head and cam wise as that’s what I have left to do to my engine. By the way ST200 and ST220 Cams have different lifts.
Eeeewwwww ye ol noble has seen better days . Defo acid dip and galv chassis but before that junk that nasty servo and replace with a tilton pedal box .
If you need any help with measurements or anything, drop me a line, I've had my GTO 3R for about 14 years and have had custom Pistons and rings (made exclusively to my spec by Omega Pistons). I altered the base circle with a regrind on my cams and it's still in the process of a (very long) Upgrade project including making it a fastback. changing pretty much every single element of the car. :)
I’m doing a Copart Yamaha xt125x motorbike that was ‘stolen recovered-minimal damage’ now turned into a full rebuild! Needed lots of TLC. Full bottom end strip, full gasket and oil seal replacement set, new crank bearings, new starter clutch, new ignition barrel, new brake and clutch levers, plus all the cycle parts, front and rear wheel bearings, brake discs, fork seals, chain and sprockets. Fuel tap, carb clean, and it’s not running yet!. It’s endless.🥹🥹😂😂😂
AJ30 engine, there's a guy on pistonheads who's used the heads, possibly the whole engine. It'll give you the opportunity to go silly power if you want to. (Silly power being a relative term)
Will you're new inlet manifold solve the intake valve carbon build up? I.e. it has injectors for both of the valves?? Or are you planning to mod it to sort that out?? Or will it not make enough of a difference to bother!? Just thinking surely you're attention to detail (OCD) won't allow you to run the motor knowing you're going to get dirty valves 🤣🤣👍👍🙈🙈🔥
Had to stop watching at 22 mins because of focus. Love this channel but sometimes the focus and constant camera movements make the episode unwatchable. Re Noble if it was me, I’d have it shot blasted or acid dipped then asses. You’d be surprised at how obvious things become then. I’d say based on 20+ years of welding/fabricating that the section wrapped in tape will need cutting out and replacing. It did make me chuckle when Matt gave it a little squeeze at 13 mins 12secs and said “I reckon it’ll clean up well.” Just chop it out and replace it. Not worth the risk.
That Noble is made of Twigs nothing to the frame Wow Skeletor or what. cheers Rikki and STOP measuring stuff with a Vernier please use Mics they are so in accurate just saying ex RR
I do have a large array of very accurate Mitutoyo mics but for measuring to nearest .1mm no point putting them at risk! It’s only to give a rough idea of sizes.
Love this channel. But the production values are going down not up. Watched this on my big screen and the rubbish focus, jerky moves etc made me nauseous. Quality of content is going up, so why is the experience going down? You're great, much love, apart from camera berk.
@@EvoraGT430I don’t think that’s what he was eluding too. There are plenty of Nobles nowhere near as rusty as this, not even close. Plenty rust free, clean and see no rain. Yes wrap and wrap wire is standard, doesn’t mean you’ll find a bunch of rust behind it. Heatwrap doesn’t last 20years, unfortunately awkward to get to, and not many owners are hobbiests, so wrap usually stays a bit tatty around those areas.
