Just checked the cost of a creme egg, was 4.5P in 1957 and is now 50p (when bought in a box of 5). By inflation the creme egg should be 91p and by all account seems to be sold as singles for ~75p. it seems that certain items are at inflationary loss relative to historical prices. others are just climbing. (inflation since 1957 is 20x). i note this is an unbranded creme egg, i cant find the price for a 1971 release creme egg

It is all part of the big shops' plans to not have shops and deliver everything, keeping shops open, staff wages, electricity, heating, rates, rents, water charges, waste disposal. business taxes etc etc is very very expensive, a cheaply built steel and concrete out-of-town industrial unit with none English-speaking foreign workers packing and delivering everything for low wages is more than 50% cheaper than a conventional high street shop, in 15 - 20 years you won't be able to buy your weeks shopping at a shop, there will be garages selling stuff but ASDA and TESCO etc want to deliver everything in the future, sounds OK until you have to wait for the driver all day and your eggs are broken, their goal is for people to do a huge shop once a month. one massive delivery for free, These are the jobs the new immigrants will do, hidden from the public, living in converted army barracks and being bused to out-of-town food factories,

Bigvern, my local Tesco in East Belfast, has security tags on a lot of the higher priced items, steaks and obviously bottles of alcohol. Every time I venture in to it, it appears more items are tagged somehow. Not in cases as yet though.
