@@timg1246 The waste of public money by all governments is absolutely astronomical on a Global basis, in many cases politicians or their families benefit directly or indirectly from this and that is why it is widespread, civil services are also complicit, but bringing this home I just wished a government would sit down and a PM bash heads together and say I want spending to return to pre Covid levels and foreign aid tied to domestic exports and fully accountable to ensure it is not ending up in foreign politicians Swiss bank accounts. Stopping illegal immigration would also save Billions, almost 1% of the British population today is here illegally and that is a disgrace that politicians will not address for their own political reasons. It's more like investment tax. Problem is to invest you need to take on risk. A 40~% tax on any profit is going to rocket the risk equation in the "it's not worth it" category. Sadly the most innovative projects are also usually the most risky. This will just kill innovation and rich people will put all their money in shit like low risk treasury bonds

I doubt that will be the case, respectfully. The force of inflation and debasement of the pound will never accommodate any material drop in property values. Plus as the gentleman in the video said, people simply won't sell when they can just sit and wait, earning passive income. People will just go non-resident for at least 5-years, dispose of assets and remain non-res and not be required to pay CGT. Financial freedom always wins over draconian tax legislation. Isle of Man, Malta, Dubai, Gibraltar etc etc etc People will just leave and Britain's finances will worsen as a consequence. Property and land values will only ever go up and to the right over a logarithmic chart, mainly as a consequence of debasement of the pound.
