I will have to watch again. I understand the “face down,” but the “head down” part of the message doesn’t convey meaning to me.

Thanks very much Chris, really insightful! Another aha moment for me! One question: does it apply in the same way to a driver swing or is this something to cover in another video?

Thanks and yes same thing with the driver swing

Hey Chris. Great device for showing clients what their wrist are doing in the down swing. Also you can put on your trail wrist to monitor what it's doing in the down swing as well. The Pro version allows you to compare with your favorite professional golfers. Blessings and peace Chris. You're doing a phenomenal job in teaching and training. Best regards, Mak

Would love to see you provide the equivalent information with the focus on the right wrist. I always make this point.😊

Fantastic video! This should be the tutorial with Hack Motion. I stopped using mine because the feedback it was providing encouraged me to hold the wrist cup at impact and it made things worse...slow and slicing. I love the info on the sequencing of the wrist release and how the timing of the release matters versus just trying to hold on to the lauded 'cupped' position. Thanks, Chris!

@@ChrisRyanGolf Is the sequence similar with longer clubs (e.g., driver), as you are trying to release earlier, versus a wedge when you may hold it off a bit longer to flight the ball? That might be an awesome follow-up video! Thanks, Chris!
@ChrisRyanGolf
@ChrisRyanGolf 3 месяца назад
Great topic and yes definitely one for a future video. Would be similar with driver, bay change a little as you get done to those wedges but would really all depend on the intended shot, flight etc but the wrists are key to hitting those various shots

Great video Chris, so helpful. Is this called supination of the wrist?
@ChrisRyanGolf
@ChrisRyanGolf 3 месяца назад
Thanks John, very similar, that term refers to the forearm rather than the wrist, but very similar moves yes

I got hack motion .. I have a perfect wrist set in the back swing but I definitely flip at impact and can’t fix it! I will try some of these drills

Great! A comment with a question mark...If youre one (me) with excessively strong grip (lead hand) you will have difficulties doing this. I´m working on this as I simultaneously moving towards a neutral grip, but I think many higher hcps are tought early on to have a that strong grip and need to unlearn that later and incorporate this wrist move in order achieve a closed/squared clubface. Am I right?
@ChrisRyanGolf
@ChrisRyanGolf 3 месяца назад
Great question, definitely try to that a stronger grip would change this a little, the movements should still be the same but the wrist will probably never get to a bowed or arched position with a strong grip. I’d probably agree that this move with a neutral hold is a better option, but for some with jobs, family etc it’s just simply not feasible to change this grip and then the wrist movement to match, so they are probably better keeping the slightly stronger grip

This is literally the famous “No turn cast drill” by Monte Sheinbloom. The first cast throws the club down and the second flaps the wrist through the impact area. It is the secret, but still a skill. Also check out Mike Malaska’s swing philosophy on wrist angles. Pretty similar.

Two great coaches there! Love both of their teaching styles Definitely a part of the swing that I think needs more attention

I've experimented with this move and I find I get extremely in to out doing it to the point where I can't do anything but hit big blocks or hooks even at half speed
@ChrisRyanGolf
@ChrisRyanGolf 3 месяца назад
It’s definitely a move which is more likely to shift the path to the right, so that would maybe explain that a little. Maybe it’s the release aspect rather than the initial flex on the wrist

Wrist cups after impact into the finish. You’d spray balls all over with timing that flip lol 🎉 Unless your playing a cut it holds to finish:::😵‍💫
@ChrisRyanGolf
@ChrisRyanGolf 3 месяца назад
Yeah that’s what I said in the video, flat at impact moving towards extension into the follow through
@Dkrin28
@Dkrin28 3 месяца назад
Thanks for this. It’s not a flip! Look at Hovlands right wrist post impact, extremely flexed he is moving the right wrist aggressively through impact
@ChrisRyanGolf
@ChrisRyanGolf 3 месяца назад
Yeah agreed, as to most, seems as though over the years it’s become a move that many are trying avoid, yet it’s key to great golf, when and where it happens is key
@Dkrin28

Yes! All in order to “keep the club face stable through impact”. It made me drag the handle, got golf elbow, and lost distance. I’m retraining my pattern and I love how I’m getting consistent center strikes and better distance

I have a Hack Motion and I don't think they want you cupped at impact.
@ChrisRyanGolf
@ChrisRyanGolf 3 месяца назад
Hey Robert, no they don’t, ideally pretty flat but will depend on the grip style, the key message here was that the wrist isn’t constant through impact, yes ideally glad but in the process of moving from arched to cupped
